Following the launch of iOS 12 yesterday Apple is now rolling out updates for its iOS and Mac with new features that were demonstrated on stage at the WWDC 2018 event.

Apple News and GarageBand for iOS, and Pages and Numbers apps for iOS and Mac devices are receiving updates today with new great features.

Apple News iOS app update (version 4.0)

The Apple News app is getting a brand new design “to make it easier to discover new channels and topics.” The iPad version of the app now has a sidebar while the iPhone Apple News app gets a new Channels tab to quickly access your favorite news source.

GarageBand iOS app update (version 2.3.6)

The GarageBand app update for iPhone and iPad devices adds “collection of Touch Instrument and Drummer Apple Loops”, support for MIDI files and bug fixes.

GarageBand iOS v2.3.6 changelog:

  • Includes a collection of Touch Instrument and Drummer Apple Loops, which allow you to continue shaping their sound and performance after adding them to your project
  • Supports import and playback of MIDI files

Pages update for iOS (v4.2) and Mac (v7.2)

Apple’s word processing app Pages is receiving a big update on both iOS and Mac platforms. While the iOS app gets support for animated drawings in documents, Siri Shortcuts, and more; the macOS app gets support for Dark Mode, Continuity camera, and the ability record, edit and play audio directly in a document.

Pages iOS v4.2 changelog:

  • Animate your drawings and watch them come to life in a document or book.
  • When using Smart Annotation, lines connecting text to annotations in the side margins stretch and move with edits.
