Absolum co‑op on PC — how online and couch play work
AbsolumTwo-player co-op is supported locally and online; here’s what you need and how to start a session on Steam.

Absolum is a roguelite beat ’em up built for playing with a partner. On PC, it supports two-player co-op both locally (shared/split screen) and online. LAN play isn’t available, and you can’t mix local and online players in the same session. The campaign is playable in co-op, and drop-in/drop-out is supported. You can buy or install the game from its Steam product page at store.steampowered.com/app/1904480/Absolum/.

Start online co-op on Steam (two copies)
- Install and launch the game on both PCs from the Steam library.
- From the main menu, switch to the online co-op option.
- One player hosts an online room from the lobby.
- The second player joins that room from the online co-op menu.
Tip: If your friend can’t see your room, have the host back out and create a new room, then rejoin the online menu. Ensure both of you are on the same game version and logged into Steam.
Play together with one copy (Steam Remote Play Together)
If only one of you owns the game, you can still play co-op via Steam’s Remote Play Together. The host launches the game, starts a local co-op session, then invites a friend through the Steam overlay. The guest streams the game and their inputs to the host machine.
- Only the host’s copy is needed; the guest doesn’t install the game.
- Progression and saves are tied to the host’s profile.
- The guest can’t carry progression to single-player on their account.
Try co-op for free with the Steam demo
The Steam demo includes the full cast and supports both local and online co-op. You can install it from the demo page at store.steampowered.com/app/3713610/Absolum_Demo/.
Quick answers
- Is there online co-op? Yes, for two players.
- Is there couch co-op? Yes, for two players on one PC.
- Is there LAN play? No.
- Can you mix local and online players in the same session? No.
- Does co-op support drop-in/drop-out? Yes.
If you want the easiest setup, each player owning a copy and joining an online room is the most straightforward path. Remote Play Together is a practical fallback when only one copy is available, as long as you’re okay with the host retaining progression and handling the game installation.
