Battlefield 6 Field Specs — every class option and how tiers unlock
Battlefield 6Pick a specialization, earn score in-match, and unlock stacked perks that culminate in an active ability.

Field Specs in Battlefield 6 are class-bound specializations that unlock in tiers as you score during a match. They sit on top of the always-on class passives and weapons, letting you lean harder into a role — whether that’s cracking armor, anchoring a push, triaging a squad, or turning recon into a true overwatch.

How Field Specs level up in a match
Each Field Spec progresses through a short ladder of perks during a round. You gain progress by doing the fundamentals: securing kills, capturing or defending objectives, reviving and healing, resupplying, repairing, spotting, and assisting teammates. As you rank the spec up, additional passives turn on, and the top tier adds an active ability you can trigger on demand for a short window.
- Progress is tied to the current match and resets when the round ends.
- You can change classes mid-round; progress on a Field Spec is kept for that class and resumes if you switch back.
- With enough contribution across roles, it’s possible to fully tier multiple class specs in a single game.
Note: Class passives and signature gear are separate and always active; Field Specs build on top of those baselines.
All Battlefield 6 Field Specs by class
Class | Field Spec | What it emphasizes |
---|---|---|
Assault | Breacher | More resilience to explosives and stronger performance with incendiary-shot shotguns and launcher-based breaching tools. |
Assault | Frontliner | Reduced fall damage and faster passive health regen; squadmates that spawn on you or your beacon get a temporary adrenaline boost. |
Engineer | Anti-Armor | Extra launcher ammo, quicker launcher reloads, and reduced enemy vehicle repair effectiveness after you land hits. |
Engineer | Combat Engineer | Significantly improved repairs on friendly vehicles and deployable equipment. |
Support | Combat Medic | Faster drag-and-revive and stronger defensive gadget performance. |
Support | Fire Support | Shorter cooldowns on ammo resupply and better handling of mounted weapons. |
Recon | Sniper | Better long-range utility with stronger auto-spotting and headshot downs that can’t be revived. |
Recon | Spec Ops | Stealth-focused perks that quiet footsteps and make you harder to detect. |
As of now, each class has two Field Specs. Secondary options unlock through account progression.

Tier progression examples (numeric effects)
These examples show how a spec ramps as you contribute in a round. The final tier adds an active ability with a short-duration power spike.
Field Spec | Perks by tier |
---|---|
Assault — Frontliner |
Tier 0: Remove movement speed penalty while moving in ADS. Tier 1: +1 charge to Adrenaline Injector. Tier 2: Passive health regen improves (+50% rate, −50% delay). Tier 3 (Active): Combat Stimulant — briefly highlights enemy audio and reveals nearby enemies (5s; extends on kills). |
Engineer — Anti-Armor |
Tier 0: Carry +2 rockets. Tier 1: Launchers reload 15% faster. Tier 2: Vehicle targets you damage repair 50% less effectively for 10s. Tier 3 (Active): Power Repair — Repair Tool fixes 50% faster for 10s. |
Support — Combat Medic |
Tier 0: Teammates can interact with you to receive health packs. Tier 1: Reviving starts your health regeneration. Tier 2: Defensive gadgets gain improved stats. Tier 3 (Active): Aid Station — you act as a mobile supply bag for 10s; revive time reduced to ~2.5s. |
Recon — Sniper |
Tier 0: Auto-spotting improves (+50% speed, +33% range, +10% angle, +3s mark time). Tier 1: Torso hits with sniper rifles reveal targets and slow their healing by 50%. Tier 2: Sniper rifle headshots create unrevivable downs. Tier 3 (Active): Call in a UAV that shadows you and helps spot enemies. |
Choosing the right Field Spec for the match
- Assault: Pick Breacher for breaching and objective pushes with explosives; Frontliner if you’re constantly trading damage and want faster regen plus spawn utility for your squad.
- Engineer: Use Anti-Armor on vehicle-heavy maps to strip sustain from tanks and reload faster; switch to Combat Engineer when your team needs high-output repairs.
- Support: Choose Combat Medic when revives and defensive holds decide the round; go Fire Support for sustained fights where ammunition and mounted positions matter.
- Recon: Run Sniper to dominate sightlines and information flow; pick Spec Ops to stay concealed while flanking and spotting.
Tip: If one lane of the map is stalling, swap to the class and spec that directly solves that problem — crack armor, accelerate revives, or expand intel — then swap back later without losing the progress you’ve already banked on other specs.
What to remember
- Field Specs are match-bound progressions; they don’t carry between rounds.
- They’re designed to reward playing your role. Lean into your class tasks to tier up faster.
- Account progression unlocks additional spec choices; loadout planning before the match still matters.
The system is simple: pick a focus, do the work that focus demands, and you’ll unlock small but meaningful boosts that add up — capped by a short, tactical button press that can swing a fight.
