Battlefield 6 sliding — controls and settings (PC, PS5, Xbox)
Battlefield 6Learn the default input, how to remap slide, and common mistakes to avoid.
Sliding in Battlefield 6 lets you close distance or hit cover quickly, but the input is not the same as many other shooters. By default, you must be sprinting and then use a specific crouch input pattern to trigger a slide. You can also switch to a simpler single‑tap or a dedicated slide button in the settings.
Battlefield 6 slide (default controls)
Step 1: Start sprinting to build speed. Sliding only triggers from a sprint, not from a walk or standard run.
Step 2: Double‑tap your crouch button while sprinting to begin the slide. Typical defaults are Ctrl on PC, Circle on PlayStation, and B on Xbox.
Step 3: Expect reduced hip‑fire precision during the slide. If you choose to fire, keep engagements very close to offset the accuracy penalty.
| Platform | Default crouch button |
| PC. | Ctrl. |
| PlayStation. | Circle. |
| Xbox. | B. |
Change slide input in settings (PC and controller)
Step 1: Open Settings and choose the input tab you use: Controller or Mouse & Keyboard. This ensures you edit the correct control scheme.
Step 2: Go to Infantry Control Settings, then open the Movement section. All slide behavior options are grouped here.
Step 3: Toggle “Double Tap Crouch for Sprint Slide.” Set it to Off to slide with a single tap while sprinting. With Double Tap Off, a tap slides and a hold performs a dive.
Step 4: (PC) Bind the dedicated “Slide” action to a convenient key or mouse button. A single, explicit slide bind removes timing from the equation and makes execution consistent.
Step 5: Adjust “Crouch Slide” behavior (All/Toggle/Hold/Off) to match your preference. These modes change which crouch inputs can trigger a slide, giving you finer control over timing.
Fix slide not triggering (common mistakes)
Step 1: Confirm you are sprinting before you try to slide. Without sprint speed, crouch inputs will only crouch or walk.
Step 2: Avoid holding the crouch button while sprinting if you intend to slide. Holding crouch triggers a forward dive (prone), which exposes you in open areas.
Step 3: If double‑tap timing feels inconsistent, turn “Double Tap Crouch for Sprint Slide” Off or use a dedicated Slide bind. This removes timing sensitivity and speeds up your input.
Step 4: Check that your crouch button mapping matches what you’re pressing. If you remapped crouch, update your habits or rebind slide accordingly.
A quick settings tweak can make sliding far more reliable. Single‑tap slide or a dedicated bind keeps your movement crisp when fights get hectic.
