The Vaporwalker boots are one of Crimson Desert's most entertaining pieces of equipment. They grant the Skipping Stones unique skill, which lets you slide across the surface of water at speed. The boots are tucked inside a hidden cave behind a waterfall in the Pailune region, and reaching them involves a couple of combat-ability tricks that aren't immediately obvious.
Quick answer: Travel to the Ancient Rift area southeast of the "P" in Pailune on the map, find the split waterfall, use the Stab skill (R1/RB + Triangle/Y) to dash through the water on the right side, break the wall behind it with Force Palm (R3/RS click), and open the chest inside Ancient's Heart Cave.
When you can pick up the Vaporwalker boots
The Vaporwalker boots are available at any point in the game — there's no quest prerequisite or level gate. If you want to grab them early, you simply need to travel to the correct spot in the Pailune region. Players who prefer to follow the main story naturally will reach the surrounding area during Chapter 7, when the narrative moves between Demeniss and Pailune. Either approach works; the chest will be waiting regardless.
Vaporwalker boots location on the map
The boots sit inside Ancient's Heart Cave, which is part of the Ancient Rift in northern Hernand. On the world map, look just southeast of the letter "P" in "Pailune" and slightly northeast of The Sage's Peak. The cave entrance is hidden behind a large waterfall along the rivers that run through the Ancient Rift. The waterfall itself is distinctive — it splits into two smaller falls with a gap in the center.

Reaching the waterfall entrance
Step 1: Head to the rivers near the Ancient Rift. If you're approaching from above, you can drop off the cliff and use your flight ability to glide toward the waterfall.
Step 2: Look for the large waterfall that divides into two streams. You need to reach the middle elevation on the right side (when facing the waterfall head-on). There's a faint glowing spot visible through the rushing water, hinting at a hidden passage.

Step 3: Use the Stab skill — press R1/RB + Triangle/Y on a controller — to drive your weapon forward and dash through the curtain of water. A normal walk or dodge roll won't get you through; the stab attack's forward momentum is required.

Inside Ancient's Heart Cave
Step 1: Once through the waterfall, you'll face a rock wall blocking further progress. Use Force Palm (R3/RS click) to smash it open. A Turning Slash also works if you prefer that ability.

Step 2: Walk through the passageway into a small cave chamber — this is Ancient's Heart Cave. A treasure chest sits in the center of the room.

Step 3: Open the chest. You'll receive the Vaporwalker boots and a Refined Palmar Pill.

How the Skipping Stones ability works
Equip the Vaporwalker boots, then activate the slide by pressing LS/L3 on a controller or C on keyboard. The key to making it work consistently is timing: start your slide just as you enter the water while running at full speed. If you hit the input too late, you'll wade in normally and lose momentum.
The ability has three charges. One charge regenerates every 20 seconds, so you'll rarely run out as long as you aren't spamming the skill back to back. In practice, this means you can cross a river, wait briefly, and be ready for the next one.
Shallow water vs. deep water
Skipping Stones is most effective on shallow water, where you'll glide smoothly across the entire surface. In deeper bodies of water the boots are less reliable — you'll sink if you don't have enough speed. That said, with strong momentum you can skim over short stretches of deeper water, which makes the boots surprisingly useful for bypassing wider rivers as long as you enter from the shallows and carry your speed through.
The Vaporwalker boots won't replace a boat for crossing oceans, but for everyday exploration across Pywel's many rivers and streams, they're one of the most practical (and fun) pieces of gear you can find. Grab them early, and you'll save yourself a lot of swimming.
