Darktide Bound by Duty update expands Mortis Trials, adds weapons
NewsFree update lands September 23 on PC, PS5, and Xbox, with a new enemy, weapons, and talent tree tweaks.

Fatshark is rolling out Bound by Duty, a free update for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide that deepens its roguelike mode and brings new gear, an enemy type, and quality-of-life changes.
The update goes live on September 23 across all supported platforms. Fatshark outlines the feature set in the official Bound by Duty update post.
Release date and availability
Bound by Duty is free and launches September 23.
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X
- Twitch Drops: September 23–October 13
New features in Darktide Bound by Duty
The update expands Mortis Trials, Darktide’s wave-based roguelike mode.
- New arena: Theatre of Rectitude
- New Indulgence archetypes to vary combat playstyles
- Additional Memory Echoes that flesh out NPC backstories and the Mourningstar’s history
New weapons and enemy type
For mission-based play, the Veteran gains the Power Falchion, which can be charged at the risk of overheating, echoing the Zealot’s Relic Blade behavior.
- New Mark variants for the Bolt Pistol and Boltgun, tuned for explosive damage
- New elite: Scab Plasma Gunner, wielding high-damage plasma fire that demands priority focus
Talent tree changes and UI updates
Fatshark is rebalancing class trees again after the 2023 overhaul. The Veteran, Zealot, and Psyker trees are reworked to be more open with greater player agency, while Ogryn and Arbites receive lighter adjustments.
UI and mode updates include a dodge counter that shows remaining dodge charges and a Smuggled Munitions event that pits players against squads of Plasma Gun enemies in low-visibility conditions.
Bound by Duty continues Fatshark’s steady push to broaden Darktide’s build diversity and replayability across both Mortis Trials and standard missions.
