Abyss on Roblox drops you into an underwater world where you hunt fish with a harpoon gun instead of a rod. Fish are the primary source of income, and their value depends on rarity, weight, star rating, and whether they carry a mutation. The game currently spans five biomes — Forgotten Deep, Ocean, Ancient Sands, Spirit Roots, and Angler Cave — each with its own pool of species ranging from Common to Mythical.
How Catching Works
Equip your harpoon gun and shoot a fish to begin the catch sequence. A meter appears on the right side of the screen with a green bar and a fish icon. Keep the green bar aligned with the fish icon until the meter fills completely. Better harpoon guns weaken fish faster, and upgraded tubes let you dive deeper where higher-rarity species spawn.
Once caught, fish go into your inventory. You sell them to the Kraken NPC at the main starting area by selecting a fish from your hotbar and choosing the sell option. A premium Sell Anywhere feature is also available for 369 Robux, letting you offload catches from any location.
All Fish in Forgotten Deep
Forgotten Deep is the starting biome and home to the most accessible catches. It shares several species with the Ocean zone.
| Fish | Rarity | Price/kg | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Tang | Common | $14 | Passive |
| Clownfish | Common | $12 | Passive |
| Tang | Common | $12 | Passive |
| Pufferfish | Uncommon | $13 | Passive |
| Salmon | Uncommon | $9 | Passive |
| Mahi Mahi | Rare | $8 | Passive |
| Lionfish | Rare | $20 | Aggressive |
| Barracuda | Epic | $20 | Aggressive |
The Lionfish applies damage over time when it attacks, so keep your distance until you're ready to harpoon it. The Pufferfish has both a normal and an inflated variant — you need to catch both for a complete bestiary entry.
All Fish in Ocean
The Ocean biome overlaps with Forgotten Deep for common and uncommon species but introduces several rare and epic fish of its own.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Tang | Common | Passive |
| Clownfish | Common | Passive |
| Pufferfish | Uncommon | Passive |
| Salmon | Uncommon | Passive |
| Sea Horse | Rare | Passive |
| Piranha | Rare | Aggressive |
| Blobfish | Rare | Passive |
| Sailfish | Epic | Aggressive |
| Shark | Epic | Aggressive |
| Bluefin Tuna | Legendary | Passive |
The Bluefin Tuna is the only Legendary fish exclusive to the Ocean zone. Piranha and Blobfish also appear in the Angler Cave, so you have two biomes to farm them.
All Fish in Ancient Sands
Ancient Sands sits deeper and introduces two Legendary species alongside a fresh set of common through epic catches.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Pompano | Common | Passive |
| Cod | Uncommon | Passive |
| Blackfin Tuna | Uncommon | Passive |
| Scorpionfish | Rare | Aggressive |
| Grouper | Rare | Passive |
| Shark | Epic | Aggressive |
| Cavefish | Epic | Passive |
| Bigmouthfish | Legendary | Passive |
| Ancient Shark | Legendary | Aggressive |
The Pompano sells for $15/kg, making it one of the better common fish for early gold farming. The Ancient Shark is aggressive and one of the hardest catches in this biome.
All Fish in Spirit Roots
Spirit Roots is the deepest standard biome and the only place where Mythical fish spawn naturally. It also shares the Sailfish with the Ocean zone.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Pacific Fanfish | Common | Passive |
| Jellyfish | Uncommon | Passive |
| Napoleon | Uncommon | Passive |
| Sunfish | Rare | Passive |
| Narwhal | Rare | Passive |
| Sailfish | Epic | Aggressive |
| Hammer Shark | Epic | Aggressive |
| Eyefish | Legendary | Passive |
| Whale | Legendary | Aggressive |
| Dragonfish | Mythical | Aggressive |
The Whale and Dragonfish cannot be caught with a harpoon. They must be killed through combat damage. The top three players by DPS receive drops — at least one meat drop is guaranteed, with a 15% chance for a head drop from each.
All Fish in Angler Cave
Angler Cave is a small, locked area accessible after completing the Lost Captain quest in the Ocean biome. The quest rewards a key that opens the cave entrance. Only four fish species live here.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Blobfish | Rare | Passive |
| Piranha | Rare | Aggressive |
| Anglerfish | Rare | Aggressive |
| King Anglerfish | Mythical | Aggressive |
Like the Whale and Dragonfish, the King Anglerfish is a kill-only target tied to the Lightkeeper quest. The top three DPS contributors get drops, with at least one King Anglerfish Meat guaranteed and a 15% chance for a King Anglerfish Head.
Fish Pricing — Stars and Weight
Every fish you catch has a base price per kilogram determined by its species. The final sell value scales with the fish's weight and its star rating, which ranges from one to three stars. Three-star fish sell at the full base multiplier, while lower ratings reduce the payout significantly.
| Star Rating | Money Multiplier |
|---|---|
| ★★★ | x1.0 |
| ★★ | x0.75 |
| ★ | x0.2 |
A one-star fish is worth only 20% of its base value, so star rating matters far more than raw weight for profit optimization.
All Fish Mutations and Value Multipliers
Any fish you catch has a random chance to spawn with a mutation. Mutations multiply the fish's sell price on top of its base value, star rating, and weight. Rarer mutations carry higher multipliers but appear far less frequently.
| Mutation | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Poop | 0.33x |
| Rock | 1x |
| Coral | 1.1x |
| Moss | 1.1x |
| Metal | 1.2x |
| Sand | 1.25x |
| Albino | 1.3x |
| Transparent | 1.4x |
| Cactus | 1.45x |
| Spirit | 1.6x |
| Fossil | 1.8x |
| Gold | 2x |
| Negative | 2x |
| Fairy | 2.3x |
| Invisible | 2.5x |
| Neon | 2.8x |
| Ultraviolet | 3.6x |
| Rooted | 4.5x |
| Shadow | 6.66x |
| Angelic | 7.77x |
| Abyssal | 8.5x |
The Poop mutation actually reduces a fish's value to a third of its normal price. At the other extreme, an Abyssal mutation multiplies the sell price by 8.5 times, making even a common fish worth a significant haul. A Legendary or Mythical fish with an Abyssal mutation is the single most valuable catch in the game.
Spirit Roots and Angler Cave hold the highest concentration of rare, Legendary, and Mythical species. Reaching them requires strong tube upgrades for deeper dives and better harpoon guns to handle aggressive fish. Upgrading your gear before pushing into these zones is the most reliable way to start landing the catches that actually matter for your gold balance.
