Every Hexerei character in Genshin Impact (and what their new passives do)

Hexerei is Genshin Impact’s first real attempt at retrofitting old characters with new power. Introduced in version 6.2 Luna III, it turns a small Mondstadt clique into a kind of faction: clear some bespoke side content, slot two of them into a team, and their kits quietly transform.

The system is simple on the surface – “run two Hexerei characters, get extra effects” – but each unit’s passive behaves very differently. Below is a breakdown of how Hexerei: Secret Rite works, which characters have access to it, and what those passives actually do in combat.

Hexerei: Secret Rite and Witch’s Homework, explained

Hexerei is a faction-style tag shared by eight Mondstadt characters tied to the Hexenzirkel mages: Durin, Venti, Albedo, Mona, Klee, Sucrose, Razor, and Fischl.

System What it does
Witch’s Homework Character‑specific task list given by Alice. Completing it flags that character as a Hexerei member.
Hexerei: Secret Rite Hidden passive unlocked after Homework, but only activates when your party includes at least two Hexerei characters.
Scope of buffs Alters ascension passives, adds new on‑field effects, and in several cases updates constellation behavior.

Once a character is flagged as Hexerei and is in a team with another Hexerei unit, their Secret Rite takes effect automatically. There’s no extra button to press and no limited resource to manage; the only condition is team composition.

All Hexerei characters and their Secret Rite passives

Character Role shift with Hexerei Core Secret Rite effect
Durin Elemental reaction driver with stronger Melt/Vaporize and shred Massively amplifies Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus (ascension talent) by 75%.
Venti Anemo on‑field DPS and Swirl damage booster Swirl‑triggering characters gain a large damage buff while his Burst’s Stormeye also hits harder.
Albedo DEF‑scaled off‑field DPS and team damage buffer Spawns Silver Isotomas that behave like backup fields and convert his DEF into partywide damage bonuses.
Mona Vaporize support and long‑uptime Omen enabler Builds Astral Glow stacks with attacks, then spends them to boost Vaporize damage and stretch Omen duration.
Klee More consistent on‑field Pyro DPS Collects Boom Badges that directly multiply the damage of her Boom‑Boom Strike Charged Attack.
Sucrose Broad, flat damage buffer on top of EM share/Viridescent After creating Wind Spirits, increases all major damage types for the team, especially other Hexerei members.
Razor Higher‑ceiling Electro brawler Supercharges Lightning Fang and converts Electro Sigil overflow into AoE Electro hits and Energy refund.
Fischl Off‑field Electro plus conditional team stat buffer While Oz is active, Overloaded grants ATK%, Electro‑ and Lunar‑Charged grant Elemental Mastery.

Durin: Hexerei buff to Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus

Durin arrives in Luna III as the first “native” Hexerei unit, so his Secret Rite doesn’t retrofit an old kit – it leans into his existing identity as a reaction‑centric DPS.

Durin ability Hexerei effect
Witch’s Eve Rite: Ode to Ascension (Passive) Increases all effects of the ascension talent Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus by 75%, except its duration.

Light Manifest already boosts his Vaporize and Melt output and lowers enemy elemental resistance depending on Durin’s form. Hexerei simply scales those numbers up dramatically, which means Durin gains the most when he’s paired with another Hexerei teammate.

Venti: From vacuum bot to Anemo carry

Venti’s Hexerei updates reshuffle him from pure crowd‑control into an on‑field Anemo driver who also buffs Swirl teams.

Venti element Change with Hexerei and updated constellations
Witch’s Eve Rite: Temporal Wind’s Eulogy While Wind’s Grand Ode’s Stormeye is active, any nearby active character that triggers Swirl gains a 50% damage increase for 4 seconds, and the Stormeye itself deals 135% of its original damage.
Normal Attack: Divine Marksmanship During Stormeye, his Normal Attacks convert into piercing Anemo projectiles (Windsunder Arrows). Each hit extends Stormeye’s duration by 1 second and lengthens its cooldown by 0.5 seconds, up to twice per Burst.
C1 – Splitting Gales Aimed Shots fire two extra arrows at 33% damage; Windsunder Arrows also create two tracking arrows at 20% damage, on a short internal cooldown.
C2 – Breeze of Reminiscence Skyward Sonnet now shreds Anemo and Physical RES by 24% for 10 seconds. Triggering Burst resets his Skill cooldown and grants a “Wherever a Breeze Blows” state: the next tap Skill within 15 seconds deals 300% of its usual damage. Windsunder hits have a chance to re‑grant this effect.
C4 – Hurricane of Freedom After using Skill or Burst, Venti and the current active character gain a 25% Anemo damage bonus for 10 seconds.
C6 – Storm of Defiance Enemies damaged by Burst lose 20% Anemo RES, plus 20% RES to any absorbed element. Venti’s damage to those targets gains 100% Crit Damage.

The net effect is a Venti who can stay on the field, maintain a longer Burst, and feed a very large Swirl‑based damage buff to himself or another Anemo DPS in the same rotation.

Albedo: Silver Isotomas and DEF‑based team buffs

Albedo’s longstanding problem has always been Solar Isotoma’s vulnerability. Hexerei gives him a second, more resilient layer: Silver Isotomas that keep Transient Blossoms flowing and turn his high DEF into party damage.

Albedo component Hexerei or constellation change
Witch’s Eve Rite: Book of Blinding Light • When Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma hits an enemy within 20 seconds of skill use, Albedo spawns up to two nearby Silver Isotomas that last 10 seconds.
• If no Solar Isotoma exists and Albedo is not downed, one Silver Isotoma will functionally replace it by generating Transient Blossoms.
• After creating a Solar Isotoma, nearby party members gain 4% damage to Normal, Charged, Plunging, Skill, and Burst per 1,000 DEF Albedo has, up to 12%.
• After a Silver Isotoma appears, nearby Hexerei allies gain 10% damage to the same actions per 1,000 DEF, up to 30%.
Calcite Might (Passive) On top of its original bonus against low‑HP enemies, Transient Blossom damage gains an extra 240% of Albedo’s DEF when a Silver Isotoma is on the field.
C1 – Flower of Eden Each Transient Blossom returns 1.2 Energy to Albedo, and casting Skill raises his DEF by 50% for 20 seconds.
C2 – Opening of Phanerozoic Stacks of Fatal Reckoning from Blossoms increase Burst and Fatal Blossom damage by 30% of Albedo’s DEF per stack (up to four). If he reaches four stacks off‑field, they automatically detonate into three Fatal Blossoms for 300% DEF each as Burst damage, also triggering his Elemental Mastery buff when that passive is unlocked.
C4 – Descent of Divinity Characters inside Solar Isotoma’s field gain 30% Plunging Attack damage. Jumping near a Silver Isotoma destroys it, greatly raises jump height, and grants 30% extra Plunging impact damage for three seconds or until landing.
C6 – Dust of Purification Characters inside Solar Isotoma and protected by a Crystallize shield gain 17% damage. Casting Burst destroys all Silver Isotomas and consumes up to four Fatal Reckoning stacks per Silver Isotoma, each adding 250% of Albedo’s DEF to Fatal Blossom damage for 20 seconds.

With Hexerei, Albedo becomes both sturdier as an off‑field Geo damage source and a meaningful generalist buffer, especially for other Hexerei teammates who can benefit from his higher cap on DEF‑scaled damage boosts.

Klee: Boom Badges and smoother charged attacks

Klee’s kit has always hit hard but felt awkward. Hexerei leans into charged attacks and trims some of that friction.

Klee element Hexerei or constellation update
Witch’s Eve Rite: Sparkborne Magic Whenever Klee deals damage with a Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, or Burst, she gains one Boom Badge for 20 seconds from that attack type (each type can grant one badge). Having 1 / 2 / 3 badges increases Boom‑Boom Strike Charged Attack damage to 115% / 130% / 150% of its original value.
Pounding Surprise (Passive) While Sparks ‘n’ Splash is active, her Normal Attack chain no longer resets. If Klee holds an Explosive Spark while attacking, the third hit in the string consumes one Spark to fire an extra attack equivalent to Boom‑Boom Strike.
C1 – Chained Reactions Klee’s attacks and Skill can summon extra sparks that copy 120% of Sparks ‘n’ Splash’s damage, then boost her ATK by 60% for 12 seconds.
C2 – Explosive Frags Enemies hit by her Skill suffer a 23% DEF reduction for 10 seconds.
C4 – Sparkly Explosion Leaving the field during Burst or when Burst ends detonates a large AoE explosion worth 555% of ATK as Pyro. If Klee is on‑field, that explosion’s damage doubles.
C6 – Blazing Delight + Hexerei hook • While Burst is active, Klee restores 3 Energy to other party members every 3 seconds.
• For 25 seconds after casting Burst, other party members get 10% Pyro damage, while Klee herself gains 50% Pyro damage.
• Hexerei clause: using an Explosive Spark has a 50% chance not to consume it. During Burst, her first and second Normal Attacks can also consume Sparks to fire extra Boom‑Boom Strike–like hits.

The combination of Boom Badges and extra charged‑attack triggers turns Klee into a much more stable Pyro DPS, with significantly less downtime between meaningful hits.

Mona: Longer Omen windows and Vaporize stacking

Mona’s value has always hinged on Omen, the debuff from Stellaris Phantasm that amplifies incoming damage. Hexerei stretches that window and adds a reaction‑side bonus.

Mona element Hexerei or constellation update
Witch’s Eve Rite: Genesis of Starsigns • Each time Mona’s Normal or Charged Attacks hit, she gains one stack of Astral Glow of Mercury for 8 seconds (up to three stacks, with a short internal cooldown on gaining stacks).
• When another party member triggers a Vaporize on an enemy, all stacks are consumed; each stack adds 5% damage to that Vaporize instance, up to 15%.
• Each Normal or Charged hit also extends Omen on that enemy by 2 seconds, up to a total of 8 extra seconds, with a brief cooldown between extensions.
C1 – Prophecy of Submersion Attacking enemies under Omen buffs Hydro‑related reactions for 8 seconds: higher damage for Electro‑Charged, Lunar‑Charged, Vaporize, and Hydro Swirl, plus longer Freeze. When off‑field teammates trigger these, the reaction bonuses are further amplified.
C2 – Lunar Chain Normal Attacks have a chance to auto‑follow with a Charged Attack. Within 5 seconds of casting Burst, Mona’s next Normal Attack that hits will automatically convert into a Charged Attack. Charged Attacks that connect grant 80 Elemental Mastery to nearby allies for 12 seconds.
C4 – Prophecy of Oblivion Any party member attacking an Omen‑marked enemy gains 15% Crit Rate. Hexerei members also gain 15% Crit Damage against those targets.
C6 – Rhetorics of Calamitas While Mona is active, entering Illusory Torrent or fighting near Omen‑affected foes ramps up her next Charged Attack by 60% per second, up to 180% bonus over up to 8 seconds. Charged Attacks against Omen‑tagged enemies deal 200% of their original damage.

Attacking four times into an Omen target lets Mona push that debuff close to 13 seconds, which lines up cleanly with full rotations in Vaporize teams and gives her more time to feed Astral Glow stacks into a single, high‑value reaction.

Razor: More Lightning Fang damage and sigil overflow

Razor’s Secret Rite is straightforward: make his Burst hit harder and give him a way to convert his Electro Sigil mechanic into extra damage and Energy while Lightning Fang is active.

Razor element Hexerei or constellation update
Witch’s Eve Rite: Surge of Lightning Lightning Fang’s wolf spirit gains bonus damage equal to 70% of Razor’s ATK, permanently once the passive is unlocked.
• While Lightning Fang is active, if Electro Sigils from Claw and Thunder overflow, the wolf calls down a lightning strike that deals AoE Electro equal to 150% of Razor’s ATK and restores 7 Energy. This can occur once per second.
C6 – Lupus Fulguris Every 10 seconds Razor’s next Normal Attack fires extra Electro damage equal to 100% ATK. Outside of Lightning Fang, those lightning hits grant 3 Electro Sigils instead of 1; any use of Claw and Thunder now gives 3 Sigils. After Sigils are consumed, Razor gains 10% Crit Rate and 50% Crit Damage for 15 seconds.

With C6, sigil overflow becomes frequent, turning Razor into a much denser Electro damage dealer with lower effective Energy requirements.

Fischl: Oz as a trigger for team ATK and EM

Fischl already defined off‑field Electro application; Hexerei reframes her as a low‑maintenance stat battery for transformative reaction teams.

Fischl element Hexerei or constellation update
Witch’s Eve Rite: Phantasmal Nocturne While Oz is on the field:
• When a nearby party member triggers Overloaded, Fischl and the current active character gain 22.5% ATK for 10 seconds.
• When a nearby party member triggers Electro‑Charged or Lunar‑Charged, Fischl and the active character gain 90 Elemental Mastery for 10 seconds.
C6 – Evernight Raven Extends Oz’s duration by 2 seconds and lets him perform coordinated attacks with the active character at 30% of Fischl’s ATK as Electro. After such a coordinated attack, the ATK and EM bonuses from Phantasmal Nocturne are doubled for 10 seconds.

Because the buffs apply to Fischl and the active character simultaneously, she effectively doubles as both personal DPS and a flexible Overloaded / Electro‑Charged support.

Sucrose: Flat damage buffs on top of swirl support

Sucrose already brings Elemental Mastery sharing and Viridescent Venerer shred. Hexerei adds simple, generic damage bonuses for the entire party and a little extra for Hexerei partners.

Sucrose element Hexerei or constellation update
Witch’s Eve Rite: Sevenfold Transmutation • After creating a Small Wind Spirit with her Skill, nearby party members gain roughly 5.71% damage to Normal, Charged, Plunging, Skill, and Burst attacks for 15 seconds.
• After creating a Large Wind Spirit with her Burst, nearby Hexerei party members gain about 7.14% damage to the same actions for 20 seconds.
C6 – Chaotic Entropy If Forbidden Creation – Isomer 75 / Type II absorbs an element, all party members gain 20% damage for that element, and nearby Hexerei characters gain an additional ~8.57% elemental damage bonus for the absorbed element while the Burst lasts.

The numbers are modest, but they layer on top of her existing EM and resistance‑shred tools, turning Sucrose into a compact package of additive multipliers for reaction‑driven teams that also meet the Hexerei condition.

How Hexerei changes team building

Because Hexerei: Secret Rite only turns on when you bring two members of the faction, the system subtly nudges team building toward Mondstadt‑heavy cores. A few broad patterns emerge:

Team focus Hexerei synergies
Vaporize and Freeze‑style control Mona’s longer Omen and Astral Glow stacking combine neatly with Hydro‑centric carries, while Sucrose or Venti can handle Swirl and grouping.
Overloaded and Electro‑Charged Fischl’s stat buffs are keyed directly to these reactions, and Razor takes advantage of Overloaded‑friendly comps. Sucrose again offers generic damage bumps and Swirl setup.
Geo‑anchored teams Albedo’s Silver Isotomas keep his Geo damage online even when constructs are destroyed and convert his DEF into broad damage increases, particularly for fellow Hexerei units sharing the field.
Pyro carries Klee shifts into a stable Pyro main DPS, benefitting from Sucrose’s damage share, Fischl’s Overloaded ATK buff, or Albedo’s DEF‑based damage boosts when those characters are also Hexerei.
Reaction driver slots Durin’s 75% stronger ascension talent makes him a high‑impact reaction trigger in any team that can pair him with at least one more Hexerei member.

The important thread is that Hexerei doesn’t replace existing Elemental Resonances; it sits alongside them. You still build around core reactions, survivability, and rotation flow. The Hexerei label simply adds another conditional layer of passives that reward you for stacking these Mondstadt characters together.

For players sitting on early‑game five‑stars like Venti, Mona, Albedo, and Klee, or four‑stars like Sucrose, Razor, and Fischl, Hexerei: Secret Rite turns old gacha pulls into something closer to modern, multi‑passive kits – provided you’re willing to finish Alice’s Witch’s Homework and commit at least two roster slots to the coven.
