“Last Wish” becomes available after completing the main quest “Some Like it Dark.” You can pick it up from Amelia in the Exiles’ Cave. Expect a couple of long runs between the farm and Old Town; having a car handy cuts down travel time.

Find Iris’ husband’s grave in the backyard

The grave is easy to miss because it’s set into a tree plaque rather than a headstone. Use these landmarks to get oriented around the old house:

  • Stand behind the house facing the basketball hoop.
  • From the hoop, turn left and enter the garden.
  • Look for a tree with orange leaves; a small plaque marks Henry’s grave.
  • Walk close to trigger the objective marker, then place the flower.

Tip: Don’t waste time clearing every biter in the yard; you only need a brief window to interact with the plaque.

Enter the house and investigate the upstairs

With the grave done, return to the basketball hoop. On the right side of the house, a ladder leads up to a boarded window. Climb the ladder, break the planks, and climb inside.

Layout from this entry point:

  • You enter via the upstairs bathroom. The bedroom is straight ahead; the kitchen is just outside to the side.
  • Interact with the bedroom safe to progress the quest. This flags you to search Henry’s shop for the code.
  • Grab the note addressed to Iris in the lounge to keep story beats moving.
  • Optional pickups: Iris’s Quince Liquor is in the kitchen; a key downstairs unlocks the front door for an easier exit.

Optional loot paths:

  • Several locked doors can be opened with lockpicks for extra materials.
  • A basement room with heavier loot can be reached through a vent in the adjacent room.

Get Iris’ safe code at Henry’s shop (Nate Market)

Head to Old Town and locate Henry’s store, Nate Market. The building functions like a Dark Zone: expect multiple undead in tight aisles.

  • Enter through the small gap at the front.
  • Stick to a crouch and thin the herd with ranged throws if you want to avoid being swarmed.
  • Behind the counter is a locked door; pick it open. Two more biters often wait inside.
  • On the table in this back room is a notebook with the safe combination.

Safe code for Iris’ safe: 20-07-06

Optional: There’s a locked vault in the basement reachable via a vent next door. Dark Zone containers refresh over time, so it’s a reliable stop for repeat looting if you’re short on supplies.

Return to the farm and deal with the missing safe

Back in the bedroom, you’ll find the safe has been removed. Use Survivor’s Sense to pick up the footprints leaving the room and follow the trail along the road heading east.

  • The footprints lead to a storage building. The front door is locked.
  • Circle to the back and climb in through a window.
  • Inside you’ll find multiple safes. Identify Iris’ safe and use the code 20-07-06.

Note: If the trail becomes crowded, break it into segments—clear or bypass clusters, then reacquire the footprints with Survivor’s Sense.

What this gets you in “Last Wish”

These steps cover the two most common sticking points: pinpointing Henry’s backyard grave and resolving the safe-code detour that turns into a brief chase sequence. With the safe opened, continue the objective chain to secure Iris’s requested keepsake and wrap the side quest on your own time.
