Key pointers for the trickier trophies
- From the Hip: Unlock the pistol via the “Guns and Consequences” tale, then purchase Standoff Streak and Standoff Unlock: Pistol at Altars of Reflection. During a Standoff, finish the third opponent with the pistol shot.
- The Owl’s Talon: Complete the Kusarigama questline to unlock the weapon, then buy Ferocious Whirlwind and Lethal Talons. In stealth, use the ranged kusarigama assassination prompt from a few steps away.
- Sayonara: Either perform a charged Yari heavy attack (Typhoon Kick) or unlock Shoulder Charge at an Altar of Reflection, then knock an enemy off a high ledge so the fall kills them.
- You Dropped This: Buy Disarm Counter or Onryō Strike. Disarm an enemy, pick up their weapon, and throw it back for the kill. Damaging them first makes this consistent.
- A Moment to Breathe: The archery flashback mini‑game demands six ring hits with six arrows. Aim at the center as the thrown ring peaks; do not lead it.
- Wolf Bait: After unlocking Wolf Howl and Wolf Strike Summon, hit an enemy with an empty Sake jar to trigger a wolf finisher. It’s chance‑based, so try a few times.
- Brush Fire: Buy and upgrade the medium bow to access Fire Arrows. Ignite tall, crouch‑high grass while an enemy stands in it and let the burn do the work.
- Charming: Only unique charms upgraded once count. Many upgradable charms come from activity chains and vendors; combine their challenges with camp clears.
- Like Father, Like Daughter: The Wolf Blade’s final tier needs high‑end materials (Metals, Oni Raider Mask Pieces, Shinobi Steel, Gun Parts, Rare Metals). Progress naturally through later regions and open camp reward chests.
Armor and weapons trophies (what “all” means)
You’ll need every armor set for For All Occasions, plus all melee, ranged, and quickfire weapons for Tools of a Warrior, Take Aim, and Quick Draw. Weapon unlocks tie heavily to sensei/side tales and vendors in regional hubs; doing the “Way of the …” chains early ensures you have the movesets required for several combat trophies and makes bounties easier.
Exploration trophies (plan an efficient loop)
- Body, Mind, and Spirit: Finish every Bamboo Strike, Shrine Climb, and Hot Spring across the six highlighted regions.
- Moments of Reflection: Only 30 Altars are required even though more exist.
- Speaking with the Land: Only 10 Special Places are needed; save them for a fast sweep near fast‑travel nodes.
- Guardian of Inari / Wolves of Ezo: Fox/Wolf Dens are fixed counts (11 and 10). Dens also set up companion Standoffs and materials/charms.
- Trickster Fox / An Artist’s Eye: The Nine Tails’ puzzle boxes (12) and sumi‑e paintings (15) fill in naturally as you clear the map; songs from tales help find more collectibles.
Bounty notes (for the Gold)
Bounties come from wanted posters at inns. New posters unlock after turning in completed ones. Each poster marks a search area; you still need to locate the specific target in the wild and finish the encounter. With 31 total, this line is long but straightforward once you’ve finished your weapon questlines and gathered a full toolkit.
If you follow the story, clear the three weapon questlines, and then sweep the map region by region, the Platinum falls into place with minimal backtracking. Save a manual slot before attempting any skill‑based trophy you want to retry quickly, and let the activity counts dictate your path when you’re down to the final few.
