Lore-wise, Ashveil was introduced in the Myriad Celestia trailer as a hunter for hire who turned down a request to track a vanished Aeon, claiming the client couldn't afford his price. In Version 4.1's story, he investigates a murder case in Planarcadia's Dovebrook District alongside the Astral Express crew.
How Ashveil's kit works — Bait, Charge, and Gluttony
Ashveil's entire combat loop centers on a mechanic called Bait. His Skill deals Lightning DMG to a single enemy and marks that target as Bait. While any enemy carries the Bait mark, all enemies on the field suffer reduced DEF. If you use his Skill on a target that's already marked as Bait, Ashveil deals bonus Lightning DMG and recovers a Skill Point for the team — making him surprisingly Skill Point–positive in extended fights.
Talent — Follow-Up Attacks via Charge: Every time an ally attacks the Bait target, Ashveil accumulates Charge stacks. When Charge is consumed, he launches a Follow-Up Attack against the Bait, regenerates Energy, and gains stacks of a buff called Gluttony.
Ultimate — Burst damage and chain kills: Ashveil's Ultimate marks an enemy as Bait (or refreshes the mark), deals heavy Lightning DMG, and immediately triggers a Follow-Up Attack while granting additional Charge stacks. The real payoff comes from Gluttony: every 4 stacks consumed deal an extra instance of Lightning DMG during Follow-Up Attacks. If the Bait target dies mid-chain, Ashveil automatically shifts to the next enemy and keeps attacking until Gluttony drops below 4 stacks.
Technique — Overworld utility: Using Ashveil's Technique on the map dazes nearby enemies and grants him a point of Charge before combat even begins. He also passively increases CRIT DMG for all allies after entering battle.

Version 4.1 brings more than just Ashveil
The broader Version 4.1 update, "Unraveled for Daybreak," introduces Star Rail FEST — a large in-game festival with three themed zones recreating Belobog, Xianzhou Luofu, and Penacony. There's also a new tactical event called Wispae War Saga, where you command squads of wispae soldiers using strategy and spell cards inside Graphia Academy.
Players who log in after the update goes live will receive 10 free Warps. Double-reward events like Planar Fissure and Garden of Plenty also return during this version cycle, and the Divergent Universe enters a new Arcadian Chronicles phase with exploration routes unlocked via Waypoint Pass cards.
Ashveil looks like a strong single-target DPS with built-in Skill Point economy and a chain-kill mechanic that could make him devastating in both boss fights and multi-wave content. His full kit numbers, best Relic sets, Light Cone rankings, and optimal team compositions will become clearer once players get hands-on time after the March 25 launch.
