REDSEC, the new battle royale for Battlefield 6, launches alongside Season 1. You can get it two ways: as part of the Battlefield 6 update (patch 1.1.1.0) at no extra cost, or as a free standalone download on PC, PS5, and Xbox. Here’s how to check if you already have it and how to install it on every platform.

Check if you already have REDSEC (Battlefield 6 owners)

If you own Battlefield 6, REDSEC is included with update 1.1.1.0. Update the game and it should appear on the main menu.

  • Steam: Open your Library, select Battlefield 6, and look for the blue Update button. Install it to enable REDSEC.
  • EA App (Windows): Open the Download Manager (bottom-left icon) and ensure Auto-update is enabled. Battlefield 6 will update automatically.
  • Epic Games Store (PC): In your Library, click the three dots on Battlefield 6, select Manage, and toggle Auto Update.
  • PS5: Highlight Battlefield 6 on the home screen, press Options, and choose Check for Update.
  • Xbox Series X|S: Launch the game from your library; the update will begin automatically if it’s available.

Once the update completes, REDSEC will be ready to play.

What you’re downloading

REDSEC is a free, Battlefield‑scale battle royale set around Fort Lyndon, a sprawling Southern California blacksite. It layers in large‑scale destruction, fast squad play, and a shrinking ring that punishes late rotations. Alongside the core BR mode, Gauntlet introduces a knockout race where squads complete missions to survive and advance. The entire experience ties into Battlefield’s Portal, giving every player tools to create and remix modes and rulesets.

Whether you’re updating Battlefield 6 or installing the free version, you’re a download away from the full Season 1 slate. Make room for the install, update your drivers and firmware if needed, and drop in.
