How to farm Demonite in The Forge’s Volcanic Depths

Demonite sits near the very top of The Forge’s ore ladder. It’s a Mythic ore with a 5.5x value multiplier and a powerful burn trait, but it only drops from a single rock type deep inside the Forgotten Kingdom – and at extremely low odds. Efficient Demonite farming is less about raw damage and more about routing, luck stacking, and smart use of Volcanic Rock behavior.

Where Demonite comes from in The Forge

Demonite is a Mythic rarity ore that only drops in the Forgotten Kingdom. It has:

  • Rarity: Mythic / Mythical
  • Drop chance: 1 in 3,666 per Volcanic Rock
  • Value multiplier: 5.5x
  • Sell price: about $82.5–83
  • Source rock: Volcanic Rock only
  • Region: Volcanic Depths, inside the Forgotten Kingdom

In the Forgotten Kingdom’s ore table, Demonite is one of the rarest pulls from Volcanic Rock, alongside Darkryte. Every Volcanic Rock roll in the Volcanic Depths has a tiny chance to contain Demonite, which is why your setup and routing matter so much.

How to reach Volcanic Depths in the Forgotten Kingdom

Accessing Demonite starts with unlocking the Forgotten Kingdom and pushing through to the Volcanic Depths.

Step 1: Unlock the Forgotten Kingdom. Progress your account until you can access the Portal Tool and open the portal that leads to the Forgotten Kingdom hub.

Step 2: From the Forgotten Kingdom spawn, use the cannon near the hub to launch yourself to Captain Rowan’s camp. This puts you next to the Ruined Caves entrance.

Step 3: Enter the Ruined Caves and follow the right-hand path. This corridor becomes the Ashen Passage, marked by a “DANGER” warning banner on your screen.

Step 4: Push through Ashen Passage until you see a Magma Pickaxe on a pedestal on your right. Beside it are two Basalt Veins blocking the way toward Volcanic Depths.

Step 5: Break the Basalt Veins. You need a pickaxe with at least 78 damage to crack them reliably. If your damage is lower, upgrade your pickaxe or progress the pickaxe line before attempting this.

Step 6: Use dashes in the small openings by the Basalt Veins. A few well-timed dashes will slide you through the gaps and drop you into the Volcanic Depths.

The Volcanic Depths are a hostile lava zone. Expect frequent damage sources and tough enemies such as Elite Rogue Skeletons and random Reaper spawns. Enter with solid armor, a strong weapon, and some healing if you plan to grind Demonite for a long session.

Pickaxe requirements for mining Demonite

Demonite is gated behind Mining Power, not just location. You need at least 100 Mining Power on your pickaxe to successfully mine Demonite from Volcanic Rock.

Key breakpoints:

  • Below 78 damage: You cannot break the Basalt Veins at Ashen Passage and won’t reach Volcanic Depths via that route.
  • 78+ damage: Enough to break the Basalt Veins and physically enter Volcanic Depths.
  • 100+ Mining Power: Required to mine Demonite and other high-tier ores inside Volcanic Rock.

Common pickaxe options around the Demonite tier include:

  • Lightite Pickaxe – Earliest pickaxe that hits 100 Mining Power.
  • Magma Pickaxe – A strong alternative with good stats for Volcanic Depths.
  • Arcane Pickaxe – A late-game choice that comfortably exceeds the Mining Power requirement.
  • Demonic Pickaxe – Another viable high-power option once unlocked.

Some players also carry the lower-tier purple pickaxe specifically to break Basalt Veins on the way down, then switch to their 100+ Mining Power pickaxe once they’re actually mining Volcanic Rock.

Luck and drop odds for Demonite

Each Volcanic Rock roll has roughly a 1/3,666 chance to contain Demonite. That’s extremely low, and there is no way to “force” the game to spawn Demonite. What you can do is stack every available luck modifier to squeeze more rare drops out of your time in the Volcanic Depths.

The main luck tools are:

  • Luck Potions – Buyable from Maria’s Potion Shop. These temporarily boost your luck while active.

  • Dedicated Player achievement skill – In your bag, open Achievements and equip the Dedicated Player skill. It scales with your total playtime and can provide roughly 8–40% extra luck.
  • Miner Shard rune (Luck trait) – Socket a Miner Shard rune with a Luck trait into your pickaxe to give your tool a permanent luck bonus.
  • Luck-focused races – Certain races (for example Angel) add flat luck bonuses. You can reroll your race using reroll items and redemption codes.

  • Luck Totems – Place a Luck Totem in the area for a temporary 25% luck buff. These cost Robux or can be obtained via code redemptions.

All of these stack with each other. A high-luck race, Dedicated Player, Luck Potion, Miner Shard, and a Luck Totem running at once dramatically increases how often you see Legendary and Mythic ores from Volcanic Rock – including Demonite, Fireite, Magmaite, and Darkryte.

Efficient Demonite farming with Volcanic Rock behavior

Volcanic Rock has a quirk that lets you “reroll” the ores inside it without consuming the rock. Used correctly, this turns a single rock spawn into dozens or hundreds of rare ore attempts over a session.

How Volcanic Rock regen works

  • Each rock has a visible HP bar.
  • At a certain HP threshold (roughly around the middle of the bar), the rock cracks and reveals all ore drops sitting on its surface.
  • If you leave the rock alive and simply walk away, it will regenerate after a short time, restoring full HP and rerolling every ore inside.
  • Breaking the rock completely consumes that spawn until it respawns naturally.

This lets you preview the drop table and discard bad rolls by forcing the rock to reset, instead of smashing every Volcanic Rock to zero HP.

Two-rock Demonite farm loop

Step 1: In Volcanic Depths, identify two Volcanic Rocks close to each other with safe ground to stand on. Clear nearby enemies so they don’t interrupt your mining.

Step 2: At Rock A, mine until the HP bar is around the mid-range threshold and the ore drops visually appear on top. Check what’s visible: if you don’t see anything valuable (Eye Ore, Fireite, Magmaite, Demonite, Darkryte, Lightite, etc.), stop mining before the rock breaks.

Step 3: Leave Rock A alive and move over to Rock B. Repeat the same partial-mine process until its drop preview also appears.

Step 4: If Rock B’s preview is poor as well, leave it and return toward Rock A. By the time you walk back, Rock A will often have fully regenerated, including a fresh internal ore roll.

Step 5: Loop between Rock A and Rock B, repeatedly previewing and only fully breaking a rock when its preview shows high-value ores. This turns two Volcanic Rocks into a continuous stream of rerolls, heavily increasing the number of rare-roll attempts per minute.

Tip: If the area is crowded, keep this loop to two rocks. Taking over three or four Volcanic Rocks in a busy server locks spawns away from other players and tends to cause friction; most players treat two-rock loops as the acceptable norm.

Alternative multi-rock and multi-hitbox strategies

In some layouts you can reach more than one rock’s hitbox at once. If two or three rocks sit close together, free-camera and positioning tweaks let your pickaxe swing hit multiple rocks in the same animation.

That gives you:

  • More mid-bar previews per second.
  • More total ore rolls without moving between rocks.
  • Better use of short-duration boosts such as Luck Potions and Totems.

Combined with the regen trick, multi-hitbox mining compresses a large number of 1/3,666 Demonite chances into a shorter time window. Just be mindful of enemy pathing and lava; losing your buffs to a death mid-session is an easy way to waste consumables.

Combat and survival in Volcanic Depths

While you’re focused on Demonite, the Volcanic Depths are trying to kill you. The area mixes environmental damage with enemies that punish greed.

  • Lava – Constantly monitor your footing; a small slip can stack with enemy hits and delete your HP bar.
  • Elite Rogue Skeletons – These hit hard and can interrupt mining. Clear them before committing to longer mining loops.
  • Reaper spawns – Random Reapers can spawn and quickly end a poorly geared player’s run.

Bring your strongest available armor and weapon loadouts into the Volcanic Depths. High-defense armor, mobility skills, and burst damage weapons all help you maintain control over the area and keep your luck buffs active for longer.

Demonite stats, traits, and best uses

Demonite is more than just a high-value sale item. Its multiplier and trait make it a cornerstone ore for endgame builds.

  • Rarity tier: Mythic / Mythical
  • Ore multiplier: 5.5x
  • Sale price: around $82.5–83 per ore

On armor, Demonite provides a burn-oriented defensive trait commonly described as Demon Backfire:

  • When you take damage, there is roughly a 25% chance to apply a burning status effect to the attacker.
  • Burning inflicts damage over time for a short window, shaving off a chunk of enemy HP.
  • The passive trait only applies when Demonite is used in armor pieces, not on every random use.

On the offensive side, Demonite’s 5.5x multiplier makes it an excellent component for high-end weapons such as heavy armor-crushing builds or late-game katanas. It competes directly with other top ores like Magmaite and Darkryte, which is why many players choose to keep Demonite for forging rather than selling it for gold.

Typical uses include:

  • High-defense armor sets that punish enemies for hitting you by constantly proccing burn.
  • Endgame melee weapons built for boss fights or elite enemy farming, where every multiplier point matters.
  • Hybrid builds that combine Demonite with other trait ores like Fireite or Darkryte to layer DoT, dodge, and explosion effects.

Note: Demonite’s raw sale price is tempting, but its long-term value in endgame armor and weapons is usually much higher than the gold you’d gain from selling it outright.

Demonite is designed to be punishingly rare, but once you understand how Volcanic Rocks regenerate, how luck stacking works, and how to safely loop Volcanic Depths, it becomes a realistic – if grind-heavy – target. Treat each session as a way to roll for multiple top-tier ores, not just Demonite, and the grind feels far more rewarding.
