Kraken quest requirements in Abyss (Roblox)

Kraken’s questline in Abyss is the backbone of early progression in the Forgotten Deep. It walks you through fishing, selling, gear upgrades, Geodes, Treasure Chests, and finally the tools needed to reach the next area. The structure and objectives are fixed, which makes it easy to check whether you are on track or have missed a requirement.

Quick answer: Kraken gives three automatic tutorial quests, one race-reroll tutorial, then six main quests. Each quest completes as soon as every listed objective (specific fish, purchases, Geodes, or Treasure Chests) is satisfied and you speak to Kraken again, at which point you receive the fixed money, Star Shards, items, and the next quest.

Kraken tutorial quests (Forgotten Deep)

Kraken’s tutorial chain starts when you first load into Abyss and watch the opening cutscene. These quests run before the numbered main quests and must be cleared to unlock free roam and other NPC quests.

Tutorial quest Objective set Completion trigger
Catch 3 fish Equip the starting gun, leave the dome edge, follow the white marker, and complete the fishing minigame three times. All three fish caught, then talk to Kraken.
Sell your fish Return to Kraken after the first quest and confirm the sell interaction. Fish sold through Kraken’s prompt.
Buy basic gear Purchase the marked tube at the Tubes shop and a gun from the Harpoon shop. Both purchases made, then talk to Kraken.
Reroll race Open the Races menu from the top of the screen and use the Reroll button, consuming Star Shards. At least one race reroll completed.

Once the race reroll objective is done and you speak to Kraken, his main quest options become available under the “Do you have any quests for me?” dialogue choice.

Kraken Quest 1 – First Breath

First Breath is Kraken’s first numbered quest and establishes basic fishing requirements with beginner fish close to the dome.

Requirement type Exact requirement Verification condition
Fish 1 × Clownfish Clownfish present in your inventory when you speak to Kraken.
Fish 2 × Blue Tang Two Blue Tang in your inventory.
Fish 2 × Tang Two Tang in your inventory.

These fish spawn in abundance just outside the dome, so no additional gear beyond the tutorial purchases is required.

Quest Reward
First Breath $150, 5 Star Shards

You know First Breath is complete when the quest prompt disappears and Kraken offers the second quest in the same dialogue slot.

Kraken Quest 2 – Spines and Steel

Spines and Steel introduces your first paid weapon upgrade and a more erratic fish type.

Requirement type Exact requirement Verification condition
Purchase Buy the Beginner's Gun from the Harpoon Shop for $350 Beginner's Gun appears in your inventory and is no longer purchasable.
Fish 1 × Pufferfish One Pufferfish in your inventory.
Fish 3 × Clownfish Three Clownfish in your inventory.

Pufferfish are yellow and inflate when close; they damage you at short range and their fishing bar cursor moves unpredictably. The quest does not require selling these fish, only holding them when you report to Kraken.

Quest Reward
Spines and Steel $350, 5 Star Shards, 1 × Small Oxygen Tank

Completion is confirmed when Kraken grants the oxygen tank and moves you to the third quest.

Kraken Quest 3 – Crack that Rock

Crack that Rock layers in weight management (new fish type), tube progression, and the Geode mechanic.

Requirement type Exact requirement Verification condition
Purchase Buy a Normal Tube from the Tubes shop Normal Tube present in your inventory and equipped option list.
Fish 1 × Salmon One Salmon in your inventory.
Fish 2 × Pufferfish Two Pufferfish in your inventory.
Geode Find 1 × Geode At least one Geode in your artifacts inventory.
Geode Crack 1 × Geode via Virelia One Geode changed into a cracked state and counted by the quest.

Geodes are obtained as bonus rewards during the fishing minigame when a treasure chest icon appears in the bar and is successfully “caught” along with the fish. Blue Tang are a reliable target for triggering these chests near the dome.

How Geode cracking works for the quest

Step 1: With at least one Geode in your inventory, go to Virelia, the Artefact NPC next to the Tubes shop in the Forgotten Deep. Her stall has a distinct purple glow.

Step 2: Interact with Virelia and choose the option to open an artefact. Select the Geode you want to crack and confirm. The game shows a cost in money and a cracking timer per Geode.

Step 3: Wait until the cracking timer finishes and reclaim the cracked Geode from Virelia’s interface. The Kraken quest counts this as one cracked Geode once the process is complete.

Quest Reward
Crack that Rock $600, 10 Star Shards, 3 × Small Oxygen Pods, 1 × Speed Potion

You can verify completion when the objective list for Geodes is cleared and Kraken immediately offers the fourth quest.

Kraken Quest 4 – Risk and Fortune

Risk and Fortune is where early combat difficulty spikes, with Lionfish added to the list and a more expensive weapon requirement.

Requirement type Exact requirement Verification condition
Purchase Buy the Advanced Gun from the Harpoon shop for $1,050 Advanced Gun is in your inventory and the price prompt is gone.
Fish 1 × Lionfish One Lionfish in your inventory.
Fish 3 × Salmon Three Salmon in your inventory.
Fish 2 × Pufferfish Two Pufferfish in your inventory.

Lionfish will attack when you close in, so keeping some distance before initiating the fishing shot is the intended behavior. The Advanced Gun is necessary for efficiency but does not change the quest counting; only the fish counts matter.

Quest Reward
Risk and Fortune $850, 10 Star Shards, 2 × Mossy Geodes, 1 × Basic Oxygen Pod

Once you return to Kraken with the required fish and the Advanced Gun purchased, the quest turns in and you unlock Quest 5.

Kraken Quest 5 – The Forgotten Gate

The Forgotten Gate mixes combat, exploration outside the dome, and Geode management. It also introduces Treasure Chests as a tracked objective.

Requirement type Exact requirement Verification condition
Treasure Chests Find 3 × tier-1 Treasure Chests Three tier-1 Chest pickups registered in the quest log.
Fish 2 × Mahi Mahi Two Mahi Mahi in your inventory.
Fish 4 × Lionfish Four Lionfish in your inventory.
Geodes Crack 2 × Geodes Two Geodes fully cracked via Virelia.

Two of the three required tier-1 Treasure Chests are on land near the starting area (on a rock beside the Harpoon shop and behind an NPC shop). Additional chests are scattered outside the dome; the minimap can highlight nearby chest icons once you step into open water.

Quest Reward
The Forgotten Gate $1,150, 20 Star Shards, 3 × Mossy Geodes, 1 × Forgotten Key

The Forgotten Key arrives in your inventory immediately on turn-in and is the clear indicator that Quest 5 is fully complete.

Kraken Quest 6 – Path to the Second Isle

Path to the Second Isle is Kraken’s final main quest in the Forgotten Deep and sets you up with the Pufferfish Tube and enough exploration practice to move toward Ancient Sands.

Requirement type Exact requirement Verification condition
Treasure Chests Find 5 × tier-1 Treasure Chests Five separate tier-1 Chest pickups counted in the quest.
Purchase Buy the Pufferfish Tube from the Tubes shop for $2,850 Pufferfish Tube appears in your tube list and is equipable.
Fish 1 × Barracuda One Barracuda in your inventory.
Fish 3 × Mahi Mahi Three Mahi Mahi in your inventory.
Geodes Crack 3 × Geodes Three Geodes finished through Virelia’s cracking process.

The Pufferfish Tube is the most expensive requirement in Kraken’s line at $2,850 but is also the critical tube for leaving the Forgotten Deep safely. Some of the tracked Treasure Chests for this quest are underwater, and reaching them comfortably is expected to use this tube’s improved depth handling.

Once every objective is fulfilled and you report to Kraken, the questline ends. At this point you have:

  • Advanced Gun as your primary harpoon.
  • Normal Tube and Pufferfish Tube for movement in Forgotten Deep.
  • Access to Geodes, cracked Geodes, and early artifacts through Virelia.
  • Multiple oxygen consumables and a Forgotten Key tied into progression beyond the starting area.

There is no additional Kraken quest after Path to the Second Isle, and progress toward Ancient Sands is handled through the teleporter Scientist and the area objective marker once you own the Pufferfish Tube.
