List of NPCs in Roblox Abyss – Locations, Roles, and Services

Abyss on Roblox features a cast of NPCs spread across three distinct biomes. Each one serves a specific purpose, whether that's selling gear, cracking open Geodes, storing your fish, or handing out quests. Knowing who does what and where to find them saves you time and helps you progress faster through the ocean depths.

Quick answer: There are at least 14 known NPCs in Abyss, with the majority located inside the Forgotten Deep hub (the Forgotten Dome), two in the Ancient Sands, and at least one out in the open Ocean.

Forgotten Deep NPCs

The Forgotten Deep is the main hub area, protected by a large bubble where you don't need Oxygen to survive. Most of the core vendor and service NPCs are clustered here, making it the first place you'll interact with after the Kraken drags you underwater.

NPCRoleWhat They Do
HenryHarpoon SellerRuns the Harpoon shop and sells guns. Found next to the Kraken inside the Forgotten Dome. A former Deep Diver who lost his crew to the sea, he now passes his knowledge and weaponry to newcomers.
Crab???Henry's silent companion. Communicates only in clicks and clacks, though there may be intention behind those sounds worth investigating.
RichardBestiary KeeperTracks your fishing progress through the Bestiary. He rewards you with Shards for each new fish species you show him. Located near the leaderboard in the Forgotten Dome. Buy his Radar item early — it's only $250 and displays stats for every nearby fish.
VireliaGeode NPCKnown as the Good Witch, Virelia cracks Geodes to reveal the Artifacts inside. Her stall glows purple and sits near the Kraken. Cracking takes some time, but you're free to explore while you wait.
ScientistQuick Travel (Teleporter)Claims to have built a working teleportation machine. Complete his "Fix the Toilet" quest — which involves finding toilet paper, a toilet, a door, and power relays — to unlock fast travel between biomes. He's stationed next to a portable restroom near Henry's shop.
Mr. BlackOxygen SellerA mysterious figure who sells Oxygen Pods at a fair price but refuses any small talk. Essential for extending your time outside the bubble.
DavidTube SellerA cheerful vendor who sells Tubes, the equipment that governs your Oxygen capacity, carry Weight, and Max Depth. Upgrading Tubes is one of the most important progression steps in the game.
BillyStorage NPCLets you store fish and items in his blue containers. Useful when your inventory Weight limit is reached and you want to keep valuable catches safe before selling.
KrakenMain Quest Giver / Fish BuyerThe ancient being who pulled you into the Abyss. Despite his fearsome reputation, he needs your help catching fish. He buys your catch for cash and XP, and his quests drive the main storyline forward.

Tip: Prioritize visiting David and Henry early. Better Tubes let you survive longer outside the bubble, and stronger guns reduce the number of shots needed to start catching fish.

Ancient Sands NPCs

The Ancient Sands is a deeper biome you'll reach as your gear improves. It contains its own teleportation site and a pair of NPCs with distinct offerings.

NPCRoleWhat They Do
MarcusArchaeologist / MerchantThe discoverer of the Ancient Shark remains — a creature once thought to be legend. Marcus sells the Crossbow Gun and the Boat Tube, both strong mid-game upgrades. He's found near the Ancient Sands teleportation site.
Grumpy HankQuest NPCA half-man, half-crab hybrid after a freak accident. He's completely done with everything and spends his time asking passing explorers to fetch him burgers.

Ocean NPCs

Several NPCs are scattered throughout the open Ocean, outside the safety of any dome. You'll encounter them while swimming between biomes or exploring off the beaten path.

NPCRoleWhat They Do
Oliver (The Diver)Delivery Quest GiverA seasoned explorer camped on a sunken submarine along the route toward the Ancient Sands. He assigns delivery quests that push you to upgrade your carry capacity. Completing his questline rewards legendary Tubes, including the Zeline Tube and Plane Tube.

Hidden Quest NPCs in the Open Sea

Beyond the standard vendors and quest givers, Abyss hides additional NPCs behind secret doors, shipwrecks, and caves. These characters offer some of the most rewarding questlines in the game.

The Duck Collector is concealed behind a secret door. You'll need to knock persistently until he opens up. Once inside, he tasks you with finding Rubber Ducks hidden throughout the ocean — a collectible hunt that spans multiple biomes.

The Lost Captain is a ghostly figure found near a shipwreck at the ocean floor. His questline is notably difficult, but finishing it opens a portal-like door leading to the Lightkeeper NPC, who currently sells the best gun and tube in the game. The area around the Lightkeeper also holds some of the rarest fish and additional Rubber Ducks.

Morveth hides in a cave behind a waterfall. His quest involves powering nearby statues using red crystals scattered through the environment. Completing it unlocks Morveth's Treasure Gun for purchase.

Note: Start these hidden questlines as soon as you can access their locations. The rewards — including powerful gear, XP, and achievement progress — significantly accelerate mid-game progression.

NPC Interaction Controls

To interact with any NPC, walk up to them and press F. This opens their shop interface, quest dialogue, or service menu. You can also press G to open your backpack and check inventory before making purchases or turning in fish.

Abyss continues to receive updates, and additional NPCs may appear in future patches. For now, making the rounds through the Forgotten Deep vendors, pushing into the Ancient Sands for Marcus's gear, and tackling the hidden questlines in the open Ocean covers the full NPC roster and sets you up for endgame exploration.
