Battlefield 6 will let you pull down the full install a week ahead of launch. Preloading starts October 3 at 8AM PT (11AM ET / 4PM BST), and you’ll need an active pre-order on your account to see the preload option. There’s no early access period tied to preloads — this simply gets the files on your drive before the October 10 release.

Battlefield 6 preload time and storage needs

Expect a total install of roughly 76GB, with modular components you can choose to include or skip. The base game is mandatory; the rest appear optional.

Component Size Required
Base Game 48.88 GB Yes
Multiplayer 5 GB No
Multiplayer HD (cutscenes) 423 MB No
Single Player 15 GB No
Single Player HD (cutscenes) 7 GB No

Preload start: October 3 at 8AM PT / 11AM ET / 4PM BST.

How selective installs work

Battlefield 6 supports component-based installs, so you can prioritize what you’ll actually play. The base package is required. From there you can add Multiplayer, Single Player, and their HD cutscene packs to hit your preferred footprint. You can change this mix later without reinstalling the whole game.

Preloading does not grant early access. You’ll be able to launch into the game on October 10 when it goes live.

Preload on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA app)

  • Open Steam, Epic Games Store, or the EA app and go to the Battlefield 6 store page on your account.
  • Complete your pre-order if you haven’t already.
  • When preload opens at the times above, a Preload or Pre-download button will appear on the game page or in your library.
  • Start the download and, if prompted, select the components you want installed on day one.

Preload on PS5

  • Find Battlefield 6 on PlayStation Store and pre-order it on your PSN account.
  • Go to Library. Select Battlefield 6 and choose Download when the preload window opens.
  • If presented with content choices, pick which components to include now; you can add the rest later.

Preload on Xbox Series X|S

  • Open the Microsoft Store on your console, search for Battlefield 6, and pre-order it on your Xbox account.
  • When the preload period begins, use the Pre-install/Preload option on the game page or in My games & apps.
  • Select any optional modules you want included in the initial download.

Plan your install (examples)

  • Multiplayer-focused: Base + Multiplayer + Multiplayer HD ≈ 54.3 GB
  • Campaign-focused: Base + Single Player + Single Player HD ≈ 70.9 GB
  • Everything installed: ≈ 76 GB

Sizes are approximate and may vary slightly by platform.

Quick answers

  • Do I need to pre-order to preload? Yes.
  • Is there early access with a pre-order? No — preloading only downloads files ahead of release.
  • When does Battlefield 6 launch? October 10.

If you don’t see the preload option right at the start time, check the game page again from your library. Once the download begins, you can leave your system in rest mode to finish pulling down the files before launch day.
