Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive Pet guide – How to unlock, equip, and use every companion

Pets in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive are small, non-combat companions that trail your team and quietly clean up the battlefield. They do not attack or tank hits, but they save time by scooping up loot and materials while you focus on fighting.

When pets unlock in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive

Pet functionality is not available from the opening minutes of the game. It unlocks shortly after the first story arc.

  • Play through the main story until you finish Chapter One: Train to Become a Formidable Combatant.
  • After this chapter, Sung Jinwoo arrives at the Hunters Association, the central player hub.
  • From this point, pet-related menus become available:
    • A Team or Team Formation option for equipping a pet into your party.
    • A dedicated Pets submenu in the main hub UI where you can view all current and locked pets.

If you do not see any pet options yet, you are almost certainly still before the end of Chapter One.

How to equip and summon a pet

Once the feature is unlocked, summoning a pet is just a matter of assigning it to the correct slot before or during a mission.

  • From the hub or mission prep screen, open the Team or Team Formation menu (bottom-left of the UI).
  • Look for the small paw icon with a plus sign in the bottom-left area of the formation screen.
  • Select the paw icon to open the pet slot.
  • Choose any pet you’ve already unlocked (for example, Apex Predator Tank from the Deluxe Bundle).
  • Confirm the selection to lock that pet into your formation.

Once equipped, the pet automatically appears alongside Jinwoo and your Hunters when you load into a mission, including story quests. There is no separate summon button to press mid-combat: equipping the pet in the menu is effectively the “summon” step.

Note: You can change your pet at any time outside combat by reopening the Team menu and selecting a different pet in the same slot.

What pets actually do in missions

Pets in Overdrive are utility companions only. They do not change your damage output or defensive stats directly.

  • No combat role: Pets do not attack enemies, provide crowd control, or draw aggro. Your DPS and survivability still come entirely from Jinwoo and your Hunters.
  • Automatic loot pickup: During missions, the pet runs behind your team and collects dropped loot and resources from defeated monsters and destructible objects.
  • Off-formation scavenging: Pets may briefly leave your formation to grab nearby items, then return to following your party.
  • Persistent summoning: The pet remains active for all runs as long as it stays equipped in the Team menu.

Tip: The pickup speed is intentionally modest. In cluttered arenas or after big pulls, the pet may take a few seconds to finish sweeping the area. If you’re rushing objectives, you may still want to manually grab high-value drops within arm’s reach.

How to view and manage all pets

The hub includes a dedicated Pets menu where you can inspect unlocked and locked companions.

  • In the Hunters Association hub, open the Main Menu.
  • Select the Pets option near the bottom of the screen.
  • Browse each pet card to see:
    • Name and visual model
    • Rank (S or D in the current roster)
    • Short flavor description
    • Unlock method (Deluxe Bundle, challenges, Exchange Shop, Monarch Road, etc.)

This submenu is also where new pets appear once you meet their unlock conditions, such as completing a challenge or buying one from the Exchange Shop with Hunter Coins.

How to get pets: Editions, challenges, and shops

Overdrive currently includes a small but distinct roster of pets. They are obtained in different ways: through the Deluxe Bundle, world map challenges, in-game currency, and progression choices.

Pet name Rank Short description How to unlock
Apex Predator Tank S Rank Miniature version of the ice bear boss, reworked as a loyal companion that scoops up loot. Included with the Deluxe Bundle / Deluxe edition of Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive. Once purchased, claim it via in-game rewards/mail and it will appear in the Pets menu.
Wild Cerbie D Rank Three-headed guard dog that follows Jinwoo, collecting items with all three mouths. Earned by completing Challenges on the world map. More challenges unlock as you advance through the story.
Igris the Squire D Rank A smaller, knightly version of Igris that marches behind you and tidies up drops. Purchased in the Exchange Shop for 7,000 Hunter Coins under the special section.
Clumsy Baby Tusk D Rank A tiny caster-in-training that dreams of serving at Jinwoo’s side. Unlocked via Monarch Road by speccing into the relevant node during Chapter Five.
Reckless Iron D Rank A miniature version of Iron that looks more threatening than it behaves in pet form. Available as a pet in the roster; its acquisition is tied to progression and events within the current build.

All of these pets share the same core function: they automatically pick up scattered loot and resources so you don’t leave items behind when moving quickly between fights.

Common pet issues and quick checks

A few simple checks solve most pet-related problems:

  • Team tab missing: If you cannot see the Team or Team Formation tab, finish Chapter One; the feature is story-gated.
  • No pet slot visible: Make sure you’re on the formation screen that shows your Hunters. The pet slot is the small paw icon in the lower-left corner.
  • Deluxe pet not appearing:
    • Open your in-game mailbox or rewards section and claim the Deluxe pet reward.
    • Restart the game if it still doesn’t show in the Pets menu after claiming.
  • Pet not showing in missions: Confirm that a pet is actively selected in the pet slot of your Team menu; if the slot is empty, nothing will spawn.

With a pet consistently assigned in your formation, Overdrive’s dungeons become slightly less about running circles around glowing item orbs and a bit more about staying locked into the fight in front of you. The impact is quiet but noticeable, especially during longer farming sessions.
