Sony is adding a new colorway to its PS5 lineup with the Icon Blue Special Edition DualSense, a blue-on-blue controller that goes on sale October 20 in the US and Canada, with a later rollout in Mexico and Chile. The company outlined the design and regional availability in a PlayStation Blog post.

Release date and price

The Icon Blue Special Edition launches with region-specific dates and pricing. Sony lists the following:

Region Availability date Price (RRP)
United States October 20 $84.99 USD
Canada October 20 $109.99 CAD
Mexico October 28 $1,899 MXN
Chile October 28 $93,490 CLP

Design and features

The controller pairs darker and lighter shades of blue with a glossy pattern of PlayStation shapes across the touchpad. On the back, Katakana characters spell out “Pureisutēshon” as a nod to the brand’s origins.

“From the moment the console powers on and the DualSense controller lights up, that signature blue glow signals the start of something special. It’s the spark that draws you into new worlds and immersive gameplay. Inspired by PlayStation’s iconic shades of blue, this design captures the feeling of anticipation and wonder every time you pick up the controller. As a nod to our origins, we added Katakana characters on the back that spell our name the Japanese way: Pureisutēshon.“

Functionally, this is a standard DualSense: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion controls, and a built-in microphone are all included.

Availability and rollout

Sales will run through Walmart stores in the listed regions as well as Walmart’s online storefront, matching Sony’s region-by-region timing.

Sony is also previewing additional PlayStation-branded merchandise tied to its heritage and characters, but for the controller itself, the rollout begins October 20.
