Where Winds Meet face codes (February 2026) — Best presets and how to import them

Character appearance in Where Winds Meet is defined by “face codes” that store full preset data for your facial features, makeup, and sometimes hairstyle. Entering a code instantly swaps your character to that preset, and different regions (Global and Chinese) use different formats.

Working Where Winds Meet face codes (Global short codes)

The short presets below work on the Global version once imported through the Appearance menu. They cover a mix of realistic faces and stylised recreations.

How face code formats work (Global vs Chinese)

Where Winds Meet uses two main code formats for appearance data:

  • Short Global presets such as ARTaE13QJuFZm62gJp6. These are what you usually paste in from community lists.
  • Full-format server codes that start with a prefix and carry version and plan information, for example:
    • Global: wwm_facedata_R37_6940dd5e906719bcf348031e723xz1o303
    • Chinese: yysls_facedata_R37_6940dd5ed4ffeecdfe065fb1PsKLK0Pq07

Both formats encode the same preset data. The difference is the header: the Chinese client uses the yysls_facedata prefix, while the Global client uses wwm_facedata. Short codes such as the ARTa strings are mapped to these internal full codes when you import them.

How to import a face code in character creation

Face codes can be used immediately when you create a new character, which lets you skip manual slider editing.

Step 1: Start or continue character creation until you reach the appearance editor. Select the option to customise your character rather than using the default look.

Step 2: Switch to the customization options for your face and look for the button to import customization data. On keyboard this is bound to the V key and appears in the lower part of the screen.

Step 3: Copy the entire face code you want to use, including all characters, and paste it into the customization code field. Confirm and back out of the input screen. Your character’s face updates instantly to match the preset.

Instead of a text code, you can also import designs by uploading an image that contains the preset’s QR code. In that case you choose the QR option on the same import screen and select the image from your system.

How to import a face code after starting the game

Once the game has begun, appearance changes move into the main menu and use specific items.

Step 1: Open the main menu and go to the Appearance or Cosmetic Appearance section. This is also reachable from your profile menu.

Step 2: Enter the Wardrobe tab, then the option that edits your facial appearance. This is where sliders for face, makeup, and hairstyle live.

Step 3: Use the import/share option in this menu. Again, you can either paste a code into the text field or use a QR image.

Step 4: Confirm the import. If you are already in the world, the game checks your inventory for a Water Lady Script. This consumable is required for face changes during normal play and can be bought for Echo Jade in the Jianghu Treasures Shop. If you have one, the new face applies and the script is consumed.

When the import succeeds, the preview model in the Appearance menu changes immediately, and your in-world character will match as soon as you exit the menu.

Free face changes via Evercare Clinic

There is also a way to change facial features for free by progressing the story.

Step 1: Play through the main quest until you unlock the Evercare Clinic location and the Still Shore campaign segment.

Step 2: Teleport to Evercare Clinic and head into the underground catacombs of the Faceless Ones.

Step 3: Find Cheng Xin and choose the Change Disguise option. This opens a face-edit interface that lets you apply new facial presets without spending a Water Lady Script.

Note: this method only affects facial features. It does not allow you to change gender or body type.

How to change gender and body type

Gender and body type are controlled separately from face data and require premium items.

Step 1: Open the Appearance or Cosmetic Appearance menu and look for body type or Transformation options. These controls sit alongside your wardrobe and face options.

Step 2: Use a Transformation Pill to change gender or swap body type. Transformation Pills are bought with Echo Beads, a premium currency, and each pill allows a single change.

When you browse the in-game gallery, you only see designs that match your current gender. Changing gender with a Transformation Pill lets you apply codes and gallery presets that were previously hidden.

How to convert Chinese face codes to Global format

Chinese server face codes cannot be pasted directly into the Global client because of the different prefixes and encoding. To use a Chinese preset on Global, the code must be converted.

Step 1: Identify which format you have. Chinese codes use the yysls_facedata prefix, for example:
yysls_facedata_R37_67f28d0a92bf 8818d4433faeHyj5qoJq06

Step 2: Use a dedicated converter that supports both formats. These tools take either a short ARTa code or a full Chinese string and return a Global-format code that starts with wwm_facedata. For example, one converted result is:
wwm_facedata_R37_69823308e67daa8e7a5e62236YPjBKKF03

Step 3: Paste the converted wwm_facedata string into the Global client using the same import steps described earlier. After confirmation, your character updates to match the Chinese preset.

Tip: always copy the entire converted code, including the prefix and all trailing characters, as missing even one symbol will cause the import to fail.

Common reasons a face code fails

If a face code does not apply, it is usually for one of a handful of reasons:

  • Wrong region format – using a Chinese yysls_facedata code on Global or a Global wwm_facedata code on Chinese. Convert it first.
  • Incomplete copy – missing the first characters, the suffix, or the plus sign in ARTa-style short codes.
  • Gender mismatch in gallery – when browsing the in-game gallery, only designs matching your current gender appear. Change gender if you need access to other presets.
  • No Water Lady Script available – after starting the game, a face change without going through Cheng Xin consumes this item. If you do not have one, the import will not complete.

Once the technical format matches your client and any required item is available, face codes reliably reproduce the exact look defined by the original creator.
