In 2XKO’s Early Access, you can use the full roster in Training and Offline play, but online modes and Ranked require you to unlock specific champions on your account. Champion Tokens are the most direct way to do it—one token unlocks one champion bundle.

What Champion Tokens do and where to find them

Champion Tokens appear as small pink icons inside the Champions tab. Spending one token on a champion’s bundle grants the character plus a small set of extras (a chroma and a taunt). You unlock from the Champions tab: select a character and use the on‑screen Unlock button.

Tip: If you want to try a new character before committing, you can lab them in Training and Offline modes even if you haven’t unlocked them for online play.

All confirmed ways to get Champion Tokens

Method Tokens Notes
Complete First Steps missions 1 Beginner mission track; complete all objectives to receive the reward.
Finish “First Fight” tutorial 1 Found in the Learn tab; completing it grants a token.
Starter Edition (Standard) 4 Real‑money bundle available in the in‑game Store.
Starter Edition (Deluxe or Ultra) 8 Higher‑tier bundles; Ultra includes Deluxe contents. Available through Dec 31, 2026.
Tip: The First Steps mission list has multiple pages. In the Progression tab, select “View all missions” and page over—this is easy to miss.

Unlocking champions without tokens (Credits and KO Points)

Tokens are the shortcut, but you can unlock champions with other currencies:

  • 10,000 Credits earned from playing and completing missions.
  • 1,000 KO Points (premium currency purchased with real money).

For the first three weeks of a new season, the newest champion is available via KO Points, a Champion Token, or bundled with the Ultra Battle Pass. After that window, the 10,000‑Credit option is added alongside KO Points and Tokens. Seasonal Recruitment Events (starting in Season 1) also let you redeem Battle Pass XP for the new champion at no additional cost during the event window.

Which champions are locked at Early Access launch

Five characters start locked for online play at the beginning of Early Access. You’ll need five tokens to unlock the entire set if you go the token route:

  • Blitzcrank
  • Jinx
  • Teemo
  • Vi
  • Warwick

Each unlock consumes one token and includes the champion’s bundle content.

Fastest path: do the tutorial + First Steps, then decide on bundles

If you want immediate online viability without spending, knock out the Learn tab’s “First Fight” tutorial and finish the First Steps mission track to secure two tokens. From there, choose between:

  • Grinding Credits to reach 10,000 per remaining champion.
  • Using KO Points for direct unlocks.
  • Buying a Starter Edition bundle to add 4 or 8 tokens in one shot.

Starter Editions are time‑limited but not rushed—they’re available through December 31, 2026.

New champions each season: when to save tokens

2XKO adds one new champion every season. Because tokens unlock any champion, they’re a good hedge for future releases. If you already have your mains, consider holding extra tokens for the next seasonal addition rather than converting Credits or KO Points later.

Process to claim the two free tokens

Use this quick sequence to secure the two no‑cost tokens from onboarding content:

  • Open the Learn tab and complete “First Fight” to earn 1 token.
  • Go to Progression → “View all missions.” Find the First Steps mission set and complete every objective to earn 1 token.

Now head to Champions, pick your first unlock, and confirm with the Unlock button. Repeat as you earn more tokens or reach 10,000 Credits per character.

The bottom line: two quick onboarding rewards get you started, Starter Editions cover the rest if you want speed, and Credits or KO Points fill any gaps. With a new character every season and Training/Offline access for all, you can test widely and spend unlocks only where they matter for your team.
