Anime Reversal on Roblox throws waves of enemies at you while you summon, evolve, and position anime-inspired units. With no flying enemies in the game right now, the meta heavily favors Ground and Hybrid DPS units, while Hill-type units sit at the bottom of the roster. Knowing which units deserve your Gems, Gold, and EVO materials — and which ones to bench — makes the difference between clearing late-game content and stalling out mid-run.
Quick answer: RedHair (Awaken) and Ruda (Fist) are the two strongest units in the game. Prioritize obtaining and evolving both, then fill your lineup with IceQueen (Empress), Rio (Dancer), and Kirita in either EVO form.

Meta-tier units
RedHair (Awaken) sits at the absolute top. This evolved form of RedHair (Emperor) combines massive full-area damage with a Stun ability that freezes enemy waves in place, giving every other unit on your team extra time to deal damage. Getting to the Awaken EVO requires a specific process — more on that below —, but the payoff is enormous. No other unit offers both elite DPS and crowd control in a single package.
Ruda (Fist) is the best pure Ground attacker. High base DPS, full AOE attacks, and a self-buff passive that stacks percentage-based damage increases as the match progresses make Ruda scale harder than almost anything else. Pair Ruda with the Elite trait for the best results.

Sub-meta picks worth investing in
IceQueen (Empress) fills a similar role to RedHair (Awaken) but trades raw burst for consistent freeze-based crowd control. Her attacks slow and stall enemies, buying time for your main damage dealers. SPA-boosting traits work best on her since faster attacks mean more frequent freezes.
Rio (Dancer) is classified as a Hybrid unit, which currently functions identically to Ground since there are no flying enemies. That label doesn't hold her back — Rio delivers impressive circular AOE damage and has a passive that increases damage against enemies below 30% HP. Set her attack priority to target the lowest-HP enemies so she can clean up weakened mobs and bosses efficiently.
Kirita comes in two EVO paths. The Dual version edges ahead because its passive triggers more reliably, translating into higher sustained DPS. The Order version is close behind and pairs well with the Zodiac trait. Either path is worth building depending on which EVO materials you have available, but Dual is the stronger default choice.

Strong alternatives in the S and A tiers
| Unit | Role | Key Strength | Best Trait |
|---|---|---|---|
| Song Woo (Assassin) | Ground DPS | Scaling passive; synergy with Igres | — |
| Igres (Elite) | Ground DPS | Boss damage; combo buff from Song Woo | — |
| FireFist (Captain) | Ground DPS | Burn DOT stacks fast in crowds | Doom |
| Bacchi (Rockstar) | Ground DPS | AOE damage; guaranteed via battle pass | Luna or Silence |
Song Woo and Igres form a powerful duo. Song Woo's passive scales his damage as rounds progress, and Igres receives a combo buff when paired with Song Woo. Always run them together once you have both — skip Cha-In's Link buff, which isn't worth the roster slot. Igres also excels against bosses specifically, making the pair valuable in longer runs.
FireFist (Captain) doesn't match the raw numbers of the units above, but Burn damage accumulates quickly when enemies cluster. You also deal bonus damage to Burn-afflicted targets, which compounds nicely. Bacchi (Rockstar) is a reliable AOE option and especially appealing because you're guaranteed to get him through the battle pass. Luna or Silence traits reduce his SPA, letting his passive proc more often.

B-tier and beginner units
Enjo (Golden) is a serviceable off-DPS unit for early progression, but doesn't bring anything special to a developed roster. Use him while you farm for Mythics, then replace him.
Cha-In (Sword Dancer) has low DPS and falls off hard in mid-to-late game. Her Link with Song Woo makes her passable for brand-new players, but she should be swapped out as soon as better options become available.
Legendary-rarity units in general don't have any hidden standouts. Use them to farm currency for your first Mythic pulls, then phase them out entirely.

Hill units — skip them for now
Hill-type units can only be placed on elevated terrain, which severely limits their positioning. Since there are no flying enemies in the current version of the game, Hill units function as strictly worse Ground units that can't reach optimal spots on the map.
Jang-In (Flame Master) is the better of the two Hill options thanks to higher DPS and a Burn passive that synergizes with FireFist. Goko (Super) is a weaker version of Jang-In and is currently the least effective unit in the entire game. Neither is worth running until flying enemies are added in a future update.

Support and Farm units
Ame (Curse) occupies a niche support role. She can execute enemies at or below 10% HP, instantly removing them from the field. Place her near your main DPS units and set her attack priority to lowest HP so she finishes off weakened targets, freeing your damage dealers to move on. She's not mandatory, but a few copies of Ame can smooth out wave clears noticeably.
SpeedCEO is a farming unit. He generates gold passively in the background and doesn't contribute to combat in a meaningful way. Keep one running for income but don't expect him to help you push content.
BlackHair rounds out the support/farm category without offering anything essential for progression.

How to unlock RedHair (Awaken)
Step 1: Obtain and evolve RedHair into his Emperor form first. This is the base requirement before the Awaken EVO becomes available.
Step 2: Look for the Shanks/RedHair NPC somewhere in the lobby. This NPC spawns randomly once every hour and disappears after five minutes, so timing matters. The Traveller NPC will give you hints about whether the RedHair NPC has spawned on your server and where to look.
Step 3: Purchase the Haki Hat EVO item from the NPC. The cost is 10,000 Gems, 10 RR, and 15,000 Gold. Once purchased, you can evolve RedHair (Emperor) into RedHair (Awaken), unlocking the Stun ability that makes him the best unit in the game.
The spawn window is tight, so check in with the Traveller NPC regularly and be ready to move fast when the RedHair NPC appears.

Update 0.5 — new units pending ranking
The most recent update (Update 0.5, themed around Record of Ragnarok) added three new units: Hadas (Emperor), Saka (Savant), and QinSha (Emperor). These units have not yet been fully tested and ranked within the meta. Expect their positions to become clearer as players get more time with them and balance data settles.
Rankings in Anime Reversal are subjective and will shift as the developers add flying enemies, new units, and balance patches. For now, building around RedHair (Awaken), Ruda, and IceQueen gives you the strongest foundation, with Song Woo and Igres filling out a competitive roster. Avoid Hill units until the game gives them a reason to exist, and don't hesitate to replace Legendary-rarity units the moment you pull your first Mythics.
