Reach the hallowed grounds by the Scrap Yard Move into the quest area; look for yellow-glow interaction points.

Item locations: compass, tape, and rations (same area)

The three pickups sit within a tight cluster around the scrap yard “hallowed grounds.” You don’t need to roam far—just sweep the immediate area for yellow-highlighted containers and interact prompts.

  • Compass — by the broken-down vehicles. Look for a small triangle of cars; the interactable box sits in the middle.
  • Video tape — beside the cylindrical containers (large tanks or drums). The yellow-marked box is adjacent.
  • Old field rations — inside the Raider camp’s lone hut/structure; check the single building for the container.
Tip: the quest uses glowing yellow interaction points. If you don’t see the glow, shift your angle or step a few meters; it’s easy to miss in clutter.

How to get credit: pick up the spawned item, then extract alive

This task trips people up because opening the box is not the final step. After you search a container, the actual quest item spawns in the world. You must manually pick it up. Each of the three items occupies inventory space.

  • Open the yellow container.
  • Watch for the physical item to pop out.
  • Pick it up so it sits in your inventory.
  • Repeat for all three in the same raid, then extract alive.

If you extract without the items in your inventory, progress will not update, and it can appear to reset. Make sure you see the items in your bag before heading to the extract.

Once you extract all three, the delivery steps for Tian Wen will be complete. There’s no mid-raid handoff; extraction with the items is the requirement.

Quick checklist before you exfil

  • Inventory space for three quest items.
  • All three items visibly picked up after opening their containers.
  • All objectives completed in the same raid (the “In One Round” requirement).
  • A clear path to extraction; losing the items on death means redoing pickups.
Note: in some squads, only one player can loot a given quest item per raid instance. If every teammate needs the quest, plan for multiple runs or have different players pick up different items in the same round.

Common pitfalls and fixes

  • Progress “reset” after extraction — this happens if you opened the boxes but didn’t pick up the spawned items. Re-run, pick them up, and extract.
  • Can’t find the compass — look for a cluster/triangle of cars; the yellow box is centered in that formation.
  • Tape location confusion — it’s next to the cylindrical tanks/drums, not inside the camp structure.
  • Rations not appearing — check the single hut in the Raider camp; scan for the yellow glow and interact prompt.

Finish all three pickups in one raid, extract with the items in your inventory, and the delivery steps for Tian Wen will register. If you’re doing this with friends and each person needs the items, coordinate pickups or plan for repeat runs.
