“Eyes in the Sky” asks you to place LiDAR scanners at three high points across the Rust Belt. The catch: the game doesn’t hand you waypoints for the precise spots, and the interaction often appears only when you’re standing in the exact place. Here’s where to go and how to reach each install point quickly.

Quest objectives and rewards

Given by Shani, the quest has three placements:

  • On Dam Battlegrounds, install a LiDAR scanner at the top of the Control Tower.
  • On Spaceport, install a LiDAR scanner at the Communications Tower.
  • On Buried City, install a LiDAR scanner on top of the Galleria sign.

You don’t need to bring a physical LiDAR item. The install prompt appears at the correct spot once you’re in position.

What to bring (and what you don’t)

  • Zipline: Essential. All three locations are high, and at least the Buried City placement requires reaching a tip-top perch only accessible with a zipline.
  • You do not need a separate LiDAR scanner in your inventory. The interaction handles the placement.
  • Ammo to taste: Expect to draw some attention while climbing or lingering on rooftops.

Buried City placement (Galleria)

Head to the Galleria and look up: the landmark is a tall antenna rising from the sign structure. You must reach the very top of that antenna. A roof-level perch isn’t enough; the interaction appears only at the apex.

  • Fire a zipline from a stable rooftop edge to the antenna’s upper segments.
  • Climb until you’re standing on the narrow top surface; turn slowly until the install prompt appears.
  • Place the scanner and immediately descend to cover if the area is hot.
Tip: If you’re on the roof and see no ladder or prompt, you’re not high enough. Place another zipline and keep climbing.

Dam Battlegrounds placement (Control Tower)

From the tower interior, step out to the roof and circle the perimeter. The scanner isn’t on the highest antenna spire. Instead, look for a small device on a tripod tucked in a roof corner. It’s easy to miss if you beeline for the mast.

  • Sweep the corners first; the interaction lights up when you face the tripod.
  • If you came at night on the Night Raid variant, back out and return to regular Dam Battlegrounds.
  • Zipline helps you reach awkward roof nooks if you fall or overshoot.
Note: Players often overlook the corner device after ziplining straight to the tower’s big antenna. Stay low on the roof and check corners methodically.

Spaceport placement (Communications Tower)

Make for the Communications Tower on the map’s east side. The interaction zone sits on the tower platform; it may require hugging railings and equipment until the prompt appears.

  • Climb or zip to the platform levels and circle the structure slowly.
  • If no prompt appears after a thorough sweep, leave the raid from the launch room and re-enter to refresh the objective, then return to the tower.
Tip: If you previously “lost” the scanners, revisiting the launch room before heading topside can resync the quest state.

Troubleshooting common misses

  • No prompt at the spot: You’re likely a few meters off or not high enough. Reposition, face outward, and rotate slowly.
  • Wrong map variant: The Dam objective doesn’t register on Night Raid. Switch back to Dam Battlegrounds.
  • Spawn quirks: Interactions can be picky about exact footing. Step onto adjacent ledges, climb a rung higher, or drop down one level and try again.
  • Bugged state: If an install point won’t trigger after multiple passes, return to the launch room and load into a new instance before revisiting.
