Field Depots in Arc Raiders are easy to miss until you know their silhouette. You’re looking for a large, rectangular metal building that resembles a retro RV, topped with a radar tower/dish and a small patch of blue tarpaulin. These structures exist across all maps, but the Dam Battlegrounds is the easiest place to complete Shani’s early quest, Off the Radar.

Field Depot map behavior and how to identify them

  • Shape: long, boxy “RV” with a radar dish on the roof and a bit of blue tarp.
  • Map visibility: the icon only appears when you’re close; otherwise, plan your route by scanning for rectangular building shapes on the map.
  • Availability: present on every map; Dam Battlegrounds is the most forgiving run for this task.

Dam Battlegrounds Field Depot locations

These six spots are reliable places to find a Field Depot on Dam Battlegrounds. Pick whichever is closest to your spawn and route in with cover.

Location (Dam Battlegrounds) Nearby landmarks Notes
Between Water Towers and Electrical Substation Water Towers, Electrical Substation Good first stop; usually less contested than major loot hubs.
Between Water Treatment Control and Research & Administration/Control Tower Water Treatment Control, R&A/Control Tower Expect more traffic due to nearby high‑value areas.
At Red Lakes Balcony between Testing Annex and Research & Administration/Control Tower Red Lakes Balcony, Testing Annex, R&A/Control Tower Plan a cautious roof approach; elevation can expose you.
South Swamp Outpost (west of Water Treatment, south of Old Battleground) South Swamp Outpost, Old Battleground Lower density than the Dome/Power Gen corridor.
Center of Hydroponic Dome Complex Hydroponic Dome Complex High‑tier loot hotspot; expect players and patrols.
East of Power Generation Complex (just south of Raider Outpost East) Power Generation Complex, Raider Outpost East Heavily trafficked; avoid during peak activity if possible.
Tip: If you want to minimize PvP risk, steer clear of Hydroponic Dome Complex, Power Generation, and Research & Administration/Control Tower routes. These zones pull the most players early.

Off the Radar quest: quick summary

Shani’s Off the Radar has two objectives:

  • Visit a Field Depot.
  • Repair the antenna on the roof.

Open your map after you spawn, choose the closest depot from the list above, and head there. Climb to the roof and interact with the radar dish to repair it. The channel takes a few seconds and leaves you exposed, so clear nearby threats first or post a lookout.

Progress is granted the moment the dish is repaired. You do not need to extract for the quest to count. For accepting the quest, you receive two Remote Raider Flares, and completing it unlocks the black color for the hiker backpack.

What Field Depots do after Off the Radar

Outside of Off the Radar, the rooftop radar isn’t interactable. The depot’s real utility starts later: inside, you’ll find a machine that accepts a Field Crate for a loot payout. This becomes the focus of a follow‑up task and is a repeatable activity—find a crate, carry it to the machine, deposit, and get rewards.

Notes for that run:

  • Field Crates often spawn in the same general areas as depots, and carrying one slows you and disables other actions.
  • Picking less contested depots on Dam Battlegrounds makes the walk‑in and exit safer.
  • Completing the “Down to Earth” crate delivery awards a Combat Mk. 1 augment and a Medium Shield.

Routing and survival basics

  • Scan the map for long rectangular structures. Even before the icon appears, the depot’s footprint usually stands out against surrounding buildings.
  • Prioritize cover on the final approach. The climb and repair animation are the riskiest parts.
  • If your path runs past Hydroponic Dome, Power Generation, or R&A/Control Tower, reroute unless you’re geared for a fight.
  • Once the dish is repaired, your objective is complete—extract if you want to bank loot, but it isn’t required for quest credit.

Once you’ve tagged a depot and learned its look, future runs get much faster. Use Dam Battlegrounds to complete Off the Radar cleanly, memorize two or three safe depots on your preferred routes, and you’ll be ready for the crate deliveries that come next.
