Arc Raiders: Locate The Toxic Plant At The Baron Husk

The quest “A New Type of Plant” in Arc Raiders asks you to track down a possibly toxic plant in Dam Battlegrounds, extract with it, and bring it back to Lance in Speranza. The task is simple on paper, but you only complete it if you leave the map alive with the plant in your inventory.

Quest basics and requirements

Quest detail Information
Quest name A New Type of Plant
Quest giver Lance (medical trader in Speranza)
Map Dam Battlegrounds
Key location Old Battleground (around the Baron Husk)
Main objective Search for the new plant near the Baron Husk, then deliver the Possibly Toxic Plant to Lance
Completion condition You must extract from Dam Battlegrounds with the plant in your inventory
Recommended gear Comfortable combat loadout, safe pocket augment, ammo, healing items
Rewards EXP, Vita Shot, several Antiseptics

You receive the quest from Lance once you are in the mid-game and have already been running errands for traders. Unlike more combat-heavy missions, the focus here is on navigating Dam Battlegrounds efficiently, grabbing the plant, and surviving extraction.

Where to find the Baron Husk in Dam Battlegrounds

The plant only appears on the Dam Battlegrounds map, specifically at the Old Battleground point of interest on the western side. Your first task is to reach the Baron Husk there.

Step Action at Dam Battlegrounds
1 Deploy into the Dam Battlegrounds map.
2 Open your tactical map and locate the “Old Battleground” label in the western swamp region.
3 Look for the Baron Husk icon next to the Old Battleground text.
4 Move toward this icon; you are aiming for a large, fallen ARC machine dominating the area.

The Baron Husk is hard to miss: it is a huge, ruined ARC machine lying among debris. The area is usually not the busiest part of the map for other raiders, but you should still assume you can run into players or ARC patrols.

While you are there, you can breach the Baron’s main body for loot like ARC Alloys and ARC Flex Rubber. When you do, step back immediately—the husk detonates and ignites before it becomes safely lootable, and the resulting fire can shred your health.

How to identify the toxic plant

The target item is the Possibly Toxic Plant growing around the Baron Husk. You only need one to complete the quest, but multiple plants can spawn in the area.

Feature Plant description
Height Roughly knee-high
Structure Single stalk with several leaf clusters
Flower color Red-orange or bright orange blooms
Cluster pattern Usually three distinct flower clusters at the top
Spawn zone Very close to the Baron Husk, especially beneath or next to the main body

Move around the Baron’s central body and scan the ground. You will see several plants of this type; the important one for the quest is directly under or just beneath the main hull. The interaction prompt on these plants allows you to gather a “Possibly Toxic Plant” or similar wording.

Note: There are several similar-looking plants around the wreck. If you do not see the quest update, check your inventory to confirm you actually picked up the quest item and not just a random harvestable.

Collecting the plant safely

Once you are next to the correct plant, collecting it is straightforward:

Action What to do
Interact Stand next to the plant and hold your interact button to harvest it.
Confirm pickup Check that a Possibly Toxic Plant item appears in your loot window or inventory.
Store securely Move the plant to your safe pocket if you have a safe pocket augment equipped.

Storing the plant in a safe pocket is highly recommended. If you are downed and looted by other players, items in regular inventory are at risk, while safe pocket items are protected.

Extraction route and avoiding common risks

With the plant collected, the quest shifts from scavenging to survival. The mission only counts as complete when you successfully extract with the plant.

Stage Extraction advice
Plan a route From Old Battleground, plan a path toward your nearest extraction, often the Central Swamp Lift to the east.
Manage threats Expect ARC enemies and possible raider ambushes near lifts and high-traffic paths.
Play the terrain Use cover, move between debris, and avoid sprinting across open swamp where you are easy to spot.
Protect the plant Keep the plant in your safe pocket so a single ambush does not wipe quest progress.

The Central Swamp Lift is a common extraction choice from the Baron Husk since it lies roughly east of the Old Battleground area. That also makes it a natural choke point, so slow down as you approach, listen for gunfire or ARC activity, and be ready to disengage if another squad is camping the lift.

Tip: If another team clearly controls the extraction, waiting a short time or rotating to an alternate extraction point often costs less than a direct fight when you are holding a key quest item.

Turning the plant in to Lance

After extraction, you return automatically to Speranza with your inventory intact. The final step is to hand the plant to Lance.

Final step What happens
Speak to Lance Visit Lance at his medical clinic in Speranza and interact to complete “A New Type of Plant”.
Quest completion The plant is removed from your inventory and the quest objectives are marked as complete.
Rewards You receive experience, one Vita Shot, and multiple Antiseptics.
Use of rewards Antiseptics are used for Medical Lab upgrades and for crafting various healing items.

Once you turn the item in, the quest chain continues, and you add more medical supplies to your long-term infrastructure. Despite the low combat requirements, failing to extract forces you to repeat the entire loop in a new raid, so treating this as a high-value run pays off.

Handled cleanly, the mission is effectively a quick visit to the Baron Husk: in, pick a plant, and out before the rest of Dam Battlegrounds notices you were there.
