Arc Raiders isn’t doing traditional, forced progression wipes. Instead, it uses a voluntary reset system called the Expedition Project. You opt in, on your schedule, in exchange for account-wide rewards and quality-of-life perks—without giving yourself a combat power edge over players who don’t reset.

Are there wipes in Arc Raiders?

No mandatory, global wipes. Progress only resets if you choose to complete an Expedition Project. That project unlocks at level 20 and, once finished, lets you trigger a full character reset. You can repeat this in later cycles by completing the project again.

How Expedition Project resets work (timeline and cadence)

Expeditions run on a repeating cycle of roughly eight weeks. You work on multi-step objectives throughout the cycle. At the start of week eight, a limited window opens to finalize the Expedition and perform your reset. If you aren’t ready, your in-progress work carries forward to the next cycle—nothing is lost by waiting.

Stage When What you do What happens
Unlock Level 20 Gain access to the Expedition Project under Projects. The reset option becomes available only after project completion.
Progress Weeks 1–7 (approx.) Complete the project’s long-form objectives at your pace. Partial progress is saved across cycles.
Finalize Week 8 window Commit to completing the Expedition. Your character is reset; account-level rewards are granted.
Repeat Future cycles Start a new Expedition Project when the next cycle begins. Subsequent completions can increase certain temporary buffs (to a cap).

First window timing lines up shortly after launch; the initial finalization period is slated for December 15–21, 2025. Timing may shift because the cadence is described as “roughly” eight weeks.

What you lose and what carries over

Expeditions reset character-bound progress but preserve account-level and cosmetic items. Think of it as a prestige-style start-over, not a full account wipe.

Resets (lost on Expedition) Persists (kept through Expedition)
Character level and skills All cosmetics (earned or purchased)
All items and inventory Awards and achievements
Workshop progress and crafting capabilities Rankings and other metagame records
Any other gameplay-tied progression Anything associated with real-money purchases

After a reset, you can skip most onboarding and early tutorials. Core features and maps that normally unlock early will be available immediately to streamline your return.

Why opt in: Expedition rewards and limits

Expeditions are incentivized, but not with raw combat power. The goal is to make starting fresh appealing without disadvantaging players who don’t reset.

  • Permanent account unlocks for each completed Expedition
  • Unique cosmetic rewards per Expedition
  • Account buffs that last for the following Expedition cycle

Sequential completions can increase the magnitude of those temporary buffs up to a defined cap. The studio is explicit: completing a reset should not grant a power or combat advantage over those who sit out. Expect cosmetics, bragging rights, quality-of-life benefits, and smoother progression paths—not stat boosts that skew PvE or PvP balance.

Who should reset (and who shouldn’t)

If you enjoy early-game loops, testing new builds, or racing seasonal goals, the Expedition cadence gives you a structured way to relive that progression arc with persistent rewards. If you have limited time and prefer steady, uninterrupted advancement, you can ignore Expeditions entirely and keep moving forward at your own pace. There is no penalty for opting out.

Practical notes before you commit

  • You must finish the Expedition Project’s objectives before the finalization window opens to reset that cycle. If you miss it, your progress rolls over.
  • After resetting, you can immediately begin the next cycle’s Expedition once it’s available and repeat the process.
  • Other Projects may appear over time, including event-driven variants with different scales and rewards.

That’s the structure: an eight-week rhythm, a one-week finalize window, and a clean character reset that respects cosmetic and account-level investment. It delivers the “fresh start” many extraction fans like, without forcing everyone else to zero out on a timer.
