Aureate Pavilion faction in Where Winds Meet: locations, enemies, and key rewards

The Aureate Pavilion is one of the most visible hostile factions in Where Winds Meet. Its troops turn up early in Qinghe’s Moonveil Mountain and continue to appear deep into Kaifeng’s Granary of Plenty and the Buddhist strongholds of Sundara Land. For players, the faction is both a narrative antagonist and a reliable source of crafting materials, cooking dishes, and tiered gear.

Aureate Pavilion presence across regions

Aureate Pavilion enemies are spread across several major regions:

  • Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) – Heaven's Pier, Peace Bell Tower, Twinbeast Ridge, Sage's Knoll, Encircling Lake, Witherwilds, Palace of Annals, Kilnfire Ridge, Crimson Cliff, and the Mysterious Outpost.
  • Verdant Wilds (Qinghe) – Bamboo Abode and Stonewash Strand.
  • Sundara Land (Qinghe) – Bodhi Sea, Flower Expanse, and Mercyheart Monastery.
  • Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) – Stillheart Grove, Abandoned Mercy Hall, Mistveil Forest, Aureate Pavilion itself, Howling Sand Outpost, Kaifeng Suburbs - East, and the Palace of Supreme Oneness.

That spread means you run into the faction repeatedly as the story moves from Qinghe into Kaifeng and onward. Some of these locations are open-world areas, some are Outposts with their own reward ladders, and a few double as campaign quest arenas.

Aureate Pavilion Archer: locations and drops

Aureate Pavilion Archers are the faction’s standard ranged troops. They appear alongside other guards in many patrol and outpost setups, and they are an efficient way to farm basic combat supplies.

Region Area Count of Archers
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Crimson Cliff 3
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Twinbeast Ridge 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Sage's Knoll 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Encircling Lake 3
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Heaven's Pier 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Peace Bell Tower 2
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Palace of Annals 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Witherwilds 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Mysterious Outpost 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Kilnfire Ridge 1
Verdant Wilds (Qinghe) Bamboo Abode 4
Verdant Wilds (Qinghe) Stonewash Strand 1
Sundara Land (Qinghe) Bodhi Sea 1
Sundara Land (Qinghe) Mercyheart Monastery 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Stillheart Grove 2
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Howling Sand Outpost 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Abandoned Mercy Hall 4
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Aureate Pavilion 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Kaifeng Suburbs - East 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Palace of Supreme Oneness 1

Across loot tiers, Aureate Pavilion Archers focus on basic combat consumables, coins, and generic gear:

  • Shared across all tiers – Oscillating Jade, Wooden Arrow, Zhou Coin Bag, Zhou Coin, Beef Tendon, Tiered Gear.
  • Healing item per tier:
    • Beginner: Hemostatic Powder
    • Emerging / Observe / Roaming: Wound Balm
    • Dreamscape / Clarity / Understanding: Ying-Yang Ointment
    • Untouched / Nature's Way / Unbound / Beyond Mortal: Ten Wonders Powder

That makes archers a practical source of arrows and low-to-mid tier healing in the early and midgame, especially if you sweep through clustered spots like Encircling Lake, Bamboo Abode, or Abandoned Mercy Hall.

Aureate Pavilion Elite: locations and drops

Aureate Pavilion Elites are tougher melee specialists and officers. They show up in smaller numbers but drop more varied loot, including cooking dishes and crafting parts.

Region Area Count of Elites
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Heaven's Pier 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Peace Bell Tower 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Twinbeast Ridge 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Sage's Knoll 1
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Encircling Lake 2
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Witherwilds 2
Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Palace of Annals 2
Verdant Wilds (Qinghe) Bamboo Abode 2
Sundara Land (Qinghe) Bodhi Sea 1
Sundara Land (Qinghe) Flower Expanse 1
Sundara Land (Qinghe) Mercyheart Monastery 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Mistveil Forest (Vistveil Forest) 4
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Aureate Pavilion 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Kaifeng Suburbs - East 1
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Stillheart Grove 2
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Abandoned Mercy Hall 6
Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Palace of Supreme Oneness 1

The drop table for Elites scales with difficulty, but the structure stays consistent:

  • Core materials (all tiers) – Oscillating Jade, Bluestone Lock, Wolframite Weight, Hemostatic Powder, Pine Resin Ointment, Zhou Coin Bag, Zhou Coin, Tiered Gear, Droplet-Shaped Mortise.
  • Tier-specific healing
    • Beginner: Scarlet Flame Ointment
    • Emerging / Observe / Roaming: Wound Balm
    • Dreamscape / Clarity / Understanding: Ying-Yang Ointment
    • Untouched / Nature's Way / Unbound / Beyond Mortal: Ten Wonders Powder
  • Tier-specific dishes
    • Beginner: Veggie Mix, Divine Stuffed Fish
    • Emerging / Observe / Roaming: Fish-Stuffed Lotus Pods, Foo Young Clams
    • Dreamscape / Clarity / Understanding: Steamed Pork, Mushroom-Steamed Fish
    • Untouched / Nature's Way / Unbound / Beyond Mortal: Egg Custard Soup, Braised Fish Head

For players levelling cooking or stocking up on high-quality food buffs, Abandoned Mercy Hall and Mistveil Forest are especially dense Elite farming spots. At higher difficulty tiers, the mix of Ten Wonders Powder, high-grade dishes, and Droplet-Shaped Mortise makes these enemies valuable even late in the game.

Aureate Pavilion Outposts and their rewards

Several Outposts are directly controlled by the Aureate Pavilion, each with its own rule set and reward ladder. They work like other Outposts in the game: you spend Energy, clear all enemies (and sometimes side objectives), then repeat them at higher difficulty tiers for better loot.

Outpost Region Occupied by Key first-clear rewards
Aureate Pavilion Granary of Plenty (Kaifeng) Aureate Pavilion 5 Constitution, 1 Medicinal Tales, 2 Oscillating Jade, 10 Echo Jade, 20 Kaifeng Exploration
Mysterious Outpost Moonveil Mountain (Qinghe) Aureate Pavilion 5 Constitution, 1 Safe Mighty Drop, 1 Wandering Soul Avatar, 1 Medicinal Tales, 2 Oscillating Jade, 20 Qinghe Exploration
Mercyheart Monastery Sundara Land Aureate Pavilion 5 Constitution, 1 Thunderous Bloom: Tome, 1 Huiyao's Notes, 1 Change of Heart Avatar, 1 Medicinal Tales, 2 Oscillating Jade, 50 Qinghe Exploration, 20 Echo Jade

Beyond the first clear, each Outpost shares the same tier ladder pattern:

  • Tier scaling (Beginner → Beyond Mortal) – Higher tiers increase Tiered Gear levels, Ebon Iron quality and count, Oscillating Jade, and Character EXP.
  • Attunement Stones and Gear Echoes – Middle and upper tiers introduce Attunement Stones such as Doom, Rhapsody, Gold Inlay, and at the top Gear Echo: Fieryheart and matching Attunement Stone: Fieryheart.
  • Internal Art Note: Custom Chest – From Roaming upward, runs start paying out Internal Art Note chests, which are essential for optimizing internal arts.

Because the Aureate Pavilion Outposts are split across Qinghe and Kaifeng, they also double as a soft gear check: clearing the Mysterious Outpost in Moonveil Mountain is manageable with early gear, while Mercyheart Monastery expects significantly higher Healing Mastery and offers correspondingly better rewards.

Aureate Pavilion in the main story

Story-wise, the Aureate Pavilion is not just a roaming faction. It plays a central role in one of the early emotional spikes: after a major confrontation with Aureate Pavilion forces that ends with an entire village burning, the protagonist is left on the brink of death. The game briefly switches perspective to the protagonist’s horse, then pulls back to reveal that the player has survived. That sequence frames the faction as a long-term threat rather than a disposable early-game enemy.

Main scenario quests in Qinghe’s Moonveil Mountain, including the Sweetwine Tower siege and the ruined temple sequences, stack Aureate Pavilion troops alongside other hostile groups. By the time the story pushes into Kaifeng, the Outposts at Aureate Pavilion and Palace of Supreme Oneness position the faction as one of the anchors of late-Qinghe and Kaifeng combat.

Treat Aureate Pavilion troops as both a narrative through-line and a practical farming target. Archers fill your pockets with arrows, basic healing, and coins; Elites layer in rare ointments, cooked dishes, and structural materials like Droplet-Shaped Mortise; and the faction’s Outposts hand out some of the most important Internal Art Notes and Attunement Stones in the early and midgame. When a quest objective calls for eliminating Aureate Pavilion guards or tracking down an “Aureate Pavilion Expert,” it is usually pointing back into this network of shared locations and Outposts spread across Qinghe and Kaifeng.
