Banyue teams in Zenless Zone Zero – best partners, cores, and rotations

Banyue is a Fire Rupture DPS who converts his Max HP into Sheer Force and frontloads almost all of his damage during Stun windows. His strongest teams are built around two things: Rupture-focused buffs that scale with his HP-based Sheer DMG, and reliable Stun uptime so he can run his long, fighting-game-style combos inside a single break.

How Banyue wants his team to function

Banyue’s Core Passive turns all of his Fire damage into Sheer DMG that ignores enemy DEF and scales from Sheer Force, which in turn scales heavily from his Max HP. When he uses EX Special Attacks or Assist Follow-Ups, he gains a large, long-lasting self-buff to Sheer Force, Fire DMG, and CRIT DMG. His unique resource, Wrathful Fires, lets him enter the Visage of Wrath state and spend four free EX Specials before ending the state with a finisher such as Basic Attack: Toppling Mountain or Basic Attack: Crushing Peaks.

His Additional Ability, Mountain’s Zenith, only switches on if at least one teammate is a Support or Stun agent. While he is in Visage of Wrath and spends Mountain’s Might on EX Specials through branches or manual inputs, he gains Vidyaraja stacks that increase Fire DMG further. Teams that do not field a Support or Stun unit lose that extra Fire DMG layer and leave damage on the table.

Because Banyue’s optimal sequences chain multiple EX Specials into Crushing Peaks and Toppling Mountain, he does most of his meaningful damage during the short Stun window. That makes a strong Stun agent and some form of Stun extension extremely valuable; without them, parts of his combo drop outside Stun, and overall damage falls off.

Core Banyue teammates: who he wants around him

Two roles matter most for Banyue: a Rupture-focused Support who scales his Sheer Force and HP, and a Stun agent who can both break toughness reliably and give him enough time to run his full or near-full Visage of Wrath combo.

Lucia (Support). Lucia is the standout Support for Rupture teams and the best long-term partner for Banyue. She increases Max HP, Sheer Force, CRIT DMG, and more, all of which translate directly into larger Sheer DMG hits. Within the current roster she is “way ahead” of other Supports when the on-field carry is a Rupture agent, and her buffs line up cleanly with Banyue’s need to frontload damage during Stun.

Dialyn (Stun). Dialyn is effectively his premier Stun partner. She extends the Stun window so Banyue can fit his full EX chain into a single break and can convert Chain Attacks into Ultimates, giving the team multiple powerful AoE hits without extra Decibel generation. With proper execution, she can even enable sequences like two Chains and two Ultimates inside one extended Stun, while also boosting Banyue’s CRIT DMG.

Other Stun options. Ju Fufu and Trigger both work well when Dialyn is unavailable or assigned to another squad. Ju Fufu provides CRIT DMG and buffs Chain Attack and Ultimate damage, but lacks any Stun extension, which makes Banyue’s longer combos harder to complete before enemies recover. Trigger functions mostly off-field and can maintain Stun pressure, although her overall performance with Banyue trails Dialyn and Ju Fufu. Pulchra is a strong A-rank alternative who can build Daze from range, apply After Shock, and, at high Mindscape levels, provide meaningful team support.

Other Support options. If Lucia is missing, Pan Yinhu is the next-best Support for Banyue. He buffs Sheer DMG directly and can also heal, and his Quick Assist entry increases Banyue’s Sheer Force damage. Astra Yao can serve as a more generic Support with CRIT DMG buffs and healing, and Lucy or other ATK buffers are serviceable but noticeably weaker for Rupture teams because their buffs do not interact with Sheer Force as well.

Best Bangboo choices for Banyue

Banyue wants Bangboo that either interact with his Krampus affiliation or increase damage during his big Stun windows.

Birkblick. Birkblick is the Krampus-specific Bangboo and the first choice in most Banyue teams. At Level 3, it only needs one Krampus agent in the squad to activate its faction effect, which is easy to meet given Banyue himself and frequent pairing with Dialyn. This keeps its damage and utility bonuses active without forcing awkward additional Krampus picks.

Other viable Bangboo. When Birkblick is not available, Rocketboo and Snap both fit well. They provide broadly useful offensive effects that line up with Banyue’s burst windows, and they do not depend on specific attributes or factions, making them flexible across different lineups.

Premium Banyue team: Banyue / Dialyn / Lucia

This trio is the reference point for Banyue’s performance and is capable of clearing current endgame content when played with clean rotations.

Slot Agent Role Key contribution
Main DPS Banyue Fire Rupture Visage of Wrath EX strings, Crushing Peaks, Toppling Mountain finisher
Flex Dialyn Stun Stun break + extension, CRIT DMG buff, multiple free Ultimates
Support Lucia Support HP and Sheer Force buffs, CRIT DMG, team healing

In combat, Banyue starts on-field to build Adrenaline and Wrathful Fires using his Basic and Special strings and EX Specials, while also taking advantage of his parry-style Dodge: Immovable Mountain and Defensive Assists to top up Wrathful Fires. Once the enemy’s toughness is nearly broken, Dialyn rotates in to finish the Stun, apply her buffs, and extend the Stun window.

Inside Stun, Banyue should be the last Chain Attack selection so that his Chain or Ultimate automatically pushes him into Visage of Wrath with enough Wrathful Fires and Mountain’s Might for a full EX sequence. The ideal burst pattern is a manual Visage combo: chaining EX Special Attacks such as Earth Shaker, Mountain Tremor (Wrath), One’s Path, and Lion’s Roar (Wrath), then using Crushing Peaks into Toppling Mountain. Dialyn’s Stun extension is precisely what allows this long string plus Banyue’s Ultimate to fit before Stun ends.

Lucia weaves in between Stuns to refresh HP and Sheer Force buffs, keep Banyue’s Max HP high for Rupture scaling, and top up the team’s health so Banyue can safely exploit mechanics like Basic Attack: Inflame in endgame modes, which consume his HP to jump directly into Visage of Wrath.

Alternative premium Banyue team: Banyue / Ju Fufu / Lucia

When Dialyn is not available, a double-S lineup with Ju Fufu and Lucia keeps Banyue’s damage very competitive.

Slot Agent Role Key contribution
Main DPS Banyue Fire Rupture EX combos and Visage of Wrath burst
Stun Ju Fufu Stun Stun, CRIT DMG buff, higher Decibel cap
Support Lucia Support HP, Sheer Force, CRIT DMG buffs, healing

Here, Ju Fufu opens fights and breaks toughness while building After Shock. Before entering a Stun rotation, Banyue briefly comes on-field to stack Adrenaline and Wrathful Fires so that Visage of Wrath is ready as soon as the break happens. Once enemies are Stunned, Banyue again takes the last Chain slot and runs a slightly shorter Visage string, since there is no Stun extension.

Ju Fufu’s CRIT DMG buff covers the entire team, and her improved Decibel cap lets Banyue cycle Ultimates more aggressively across long encounters. The tradeoff is tighter execution: with a shorter Stun window, it can be more practical to prioritize faster EX sequences, such as repeating One’s Path → Lion’s Roar chains, over the full Earth Shaker into Mountain Tremor line, so that Crushing Peaks and Toppling Mountain still resolve while the target is Stunned.

Double Rupture-support variant: Banyue / Dialyn / Pan Yinhu

This variant swaps Lucia for Pan Yinhu, trading some Max HP and Sheer Force buffing for a different style of support and more flexible team building.

Slot Agent Role Key contribution
Main DPS Banyue Fire Rupture Primary damage dealer
Stun Dialyn Stun Stun extension, CRIT DMG, extra Ultimates
Support Pan Yinhu Support Sheer DMG buffs, healing, Quick Assist entry buffs

Pan Yinhu’s kit emphasizes Sheer DMG and synergizes well with Banyue’s HP-scaling Sheer Force. His Quick Assist entry can directly increase Banyue’s Sheer Force damage when entering combat, and he can heal the team to patch up mistakes or support HP-sacrificing openings like Inflame.

Rotation-wise, this team plays similarly to the Lucia version but focuses more on keeping Pan Yinhu’s buffs active than on maximizing HP at all times. Dialyn still sets up extended Stun phases for Banyue to perform his full or near-full Visage combo. The damage ceiling is somewhat lower than with Lucia, but the team remains strong and more accessible for players without the Rupture specialist Support.

Other strong Banyue variants

Beyond the main trios, several other compositions work well and let you adapt Banyue to your roster and specific fights.

  • Banyue / Trigger / Lucia. Trigger stays mostly off-field and keeps Stun pressure up while Banyue and Lucia handle DPS and Rupture buffs. This works well when Dialyn and Ju Fufu are assigned to a second squad but still want a Stun + Support backbone.
  • Banyue / Lighter / Lucia. Lighter provides Stun extension and Fire DMG buffs, but he demands more on-field time than Dialyn or Ju Fufu. Banyue’s own field time requirements are high, so this setup is playable but more awkward and often lower in total damage unless rotations are carefully managed.
  • Banyue / Ju Fufu / Pan Yinhu. This double damage-support team leans on Ju Fufu’s CRIT DMG and Pan Yinhu’s Sheer DMG and healing. Banyue stays on-field most of the time, with Ju Fufu handling Stun phases and Pan Yinhu cycling in for buffs and recovery.
  • Banyue / Dialyn / Astra Yao. Astra Yao brings CRIT DMG buffs and healing as a more generalist Support. The team has solid sustain and strong Stun windows, though its Rupture scaling is less sharp than with Lucia or Pan Yinhu.

Free-to-play Banyue team: Banyue / Pulchra / Pan Yinhu

For players without multiple S-rank Supports and Stun units, Banyue can still anchor a strong A-rank heavy team that clears most content.

Slot Agent Role Key contribution
Main DPS Banyue Fire Rupture Main carry, Wrathful Fires burst
Stun Pulchra Stun Stun from range, off-field Daze, After Shock
Support Pan Yinhu Support Sheer Force buffs, Quick Assist entry bonus, healing

Pulchra handles most of the Stun work and can stay relatively safe off-field by applying Daze and After Shock from mid- or long-range. Once enemies are close to Stunned, Banyue rotates in to build Wrathful Fires and be ready to enter Visage of Wrath the moment the break happens.

Pan Yinhu plays double duty as Support and healer, boosting Banyue’s Sheer Force when he joins via Quick Assist and topping up HP between phases. While this team lacks Lucia’s enormous HP buffs and Dialyn’s Stun extension, it still enables Banyue’s Additional Ability thanks to having both a Support and a Stun agent and gives enough uptime for Crushing Peaks and Toppling Mountain to land during many Stun windows if you keep EX strings slightly shorter.

How to structure Banyue’s rotations inside these teams

Because Banyue’s mechanics are unusually complex, a clear rotation makes a big difference in how these teams play.

Wrathful Fires setup. Outside Stun, Banyue spends most of his on-field time alternating his two Basic strings (Basic Attack: Towering Peaks and Basic Attack: Majestic Summit) with EX Specials such as Earth Shaker and One’s Path. Every point of Adrenaline spent generates Wrathful Fires, and defensive tools such as Dodge: Immovable Mountain, Defensive Assist, and Perfect Dodge add extra Wrathful Fires on successful parries or Perfect Blocks.

Visage of Wrath entry. Once Wrathful Fires reach at least 120, Banyue can enter the Visage of Wrath state with Basic Attack: Immolate or by triggering it automatically after a Chain Attack or Ultimate if his Wrathful Fires are high enough. In this state, he gains four Mountain’s Might stacks; EX Specials consume Mountain’s Might instead of Adrenaline and refund 10 (or more with Mindscapes) Adrenaline each, which is why teams try to align Visage of Wrath with Stun windows.

Manual EX strings. While Visage of Wrath is active, holding Special will auto-play a fixed EX sequence that ends in Toppling Mountain, but manual EX inputs are stronger and enable Vidyaraja stacks from his Additional Ability. Practical Stun rotations in his best teams often look like:

  • Chain Attack or Ultimate with Banyue to enter Visage of Wrath.
  • Manually perform EX Special chains (for example, Earth Shaker → Mountain Tremor (Wrath) → One’s Path → Lion’s Roar (Wrath)), triggering Perfect Cancels where possible.
  • Finish with Basic Attack: Crushing Peaks into Basic Attack: Toppling Mountain.
  • If time remains in Stun and Adrenaline allows, add another short EX chain or Ultimate.

Teammates are chosen to support exactly this pattern: Stun agents to create and stretch the Stun window so all of these hits land while enemies are vulnerable, and Supports to multiply damage through HP, Sheer Force, Fire DMG, and CRIT buffs while keeping Banyue healthy enough to leverage his parry-centric defensive kit.

Once you understand that structure, building Banyue’s teams becomes straightforward. Start with at least one dedicated Stun agent and one Support who cares about Rupture and Sheer DMG, then decide whether you value maximum ceiling (Dialyn + Lucia), more flexible utility (Pan Yinhu or Astra variants), or budget access (Pulchra + Pan Yinhu). The closer a lineup matches that template, the more Banyue’s otherwise demanding kit pays off.
