Battlefield 6 crossplay off — PS5 and Xbox steps, PC limitations
Battlefield 6Find the Cross-Play toggle, understand console‑preferred matchmaking, and know when the option won’t appear.

Crossplay is on by default. You can disable it directly from the in‑game settings:
- From the title screen, open Settings (cog icon, top right).
- Go to the System tab.
- In Setup, set Cross‑Play to Off.
Note: you cannot change this setting while you’re in a party, during matchmaking, or after joining a server. Fully back out to the title screen before adjusting it.
How matchmaking behaves with crossplay on or off
With Cross‑Play On:
- Matchmaking is console‑preferred: if you’re on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, the game will try to place you with other console players first, then fall back to full mixed lobbies (including PC) only if needed.
- Input-based considerations are prioritized for consoles.
With Cross‑Play Off:
- You match only within your platform. PS5 with PS5, Xbox with Xbox, and — where available — PC with PC across supported storefronts.
Platform differences and current limitations
Platform | Toggle availability | Matchmaking behavior |
---|---|---|
PS5 | Available under Settings → System → Cross‑Play | On: console‑preferred; Off: PS5‑only lobbies |
Xbox Series X|S | Available under Settings → System → Cross‑Play | On: console‑preferred; Off: Xbox‑only lobbies |
PC | May vary by build; the Cross‑Play toggle can be absent | If the toggle is present and Off: PC‑only lobbies across Steam/Epic/EA App; if absent: no supported in‑game way to disable |
If the Cross‑Play option is missing or greyed out
- Leave your party, exit any server, and cancel matchmaking — the toggle cannot be changed mid‑queue or in a session.
- Return to the title screen and recheck Settings → System.
- If you’re on PC and the option never appears, there isn’t a supported in‑game method to turn crossplay off yet.
Why you might turn it off
Some players prefer single‑platform lobbies to avoid mixed input pools and the perception of uneven accuracy or aim assist. Others keep crossplay on for faster queue times and fuller matches. You can switch the setting at any time from the same menu when you’re not queued or in a server.
If you’re sensitive to mixed‑input lobbies on console, turn crossplay off and let console‑preferred matchmaking do the rest when you switch it back on.
