Battlefield 6 dev says weapon bloom is bugged, fix in the works
NewsFlorian Le Bihan confirms two dispersion issues and says the team is working on a patch.

Battlefield 6’s weapon bloom has been bugged since launch, and a fix is being developed.
Players have spent the opening weeks flagging inconsistent bullet spread that makes shots drift even when aimed correctly. A widely shared clip pointed to bloom not resetting as expected, and now a principal designer has acknowledged multiple issues driving the problem.
What the Battlefield 6 bloom bug does
The bug increases random dispersion beyond intended values, so bullets are more likely to veer off target. In some cases, spread appears not to reset properly between shots, compounding inaccuracy during sustained fire or follow-up taps. That behavior has fueled complaints that gunfights feel inconsistent and less responsive than expected.
Community reports have centered on scenarios where “spread/bloom is not resetting correctly,” with players noting misses that don’t match on-screen aim. The result is a broader debate about how much randomness Battlefield 6 should layer on top of recoil and player control.

Fix status and tuning plans
Principal game designer Florian Le Bihan addressed the issue publicly, stating that the team has identified two separate problems impacting dispersion and is working on a fix. He also said a previous beta-related bug was resolved, but new issues are at play now.
“The Beta bug was actually fixed but we’ve identified another issue (two in fact) that impacts dispersion/bloom in an unintended way and will cause you to have more dispersion at times.
The team is working on this and we’re looking at general balance/tuning of dispersion too.”
Le Bihan shared the update in a post on X, noting the investigation and planned tuning are underway. You can read his full statement on his X post.
Balance considerations for weapon bloom
Beyond bug fixes, the team is evaluating overall dispersion values. Weapon bloom is divisive by design: some players appreciate the added challenge and variance, while others argue it makes outcomes feel arbitrary. Le Bihan’s comment signals potential adjustments to baseline bloom once the bugs are resolved, though no specific changes have been confirmed.

Availability and rollout
There’s no timeline for the patch, but the developer says the fix is in progress. Expect the update to address both identified issues and include any initial balance tweaks the team is comfortable shipping.
The studio’s immediate focus is restoring predictable weapon behavior; broader tuning will follow if needed. Until then, players should anticipate further updates as the fix moves through testing.
