Borderlands 4 now lets console players adjust their field of view, part of a September 25 update focused on performance, stability, and a wave of fixes and refinements detailed in the official update notes.

The patch is rolling out on PS5 and Xbox and includes new weekly activities alongside changes across UI, audio, visuals, and gear. The game, which launched on September 12, 2025, received its first major post‑launch tune-up less than two weeks after release; Gearbox announced the date earlier this year in its launch timing update. If you’re playing on PS5, the patch applies to the current build of Borderlands 4.

New features on PS5 and Xbox

The headline addition is a Field of View slider on consoles. Gearbox notes that increasing FOV beyond the default can impact performance, so expect potential framerate dips at wider settings. Vehicle FOV can now be adjusted for both players in splitscreen, aligning co-op viewpoints.

The update also adds controller haptics for the Exo-Soldier’s Unmissable Missiles augment and includes general refinements across UI, audio, visuals, and gear.

Stability and performance improvements

Gearbox describes broad stability and performance improvements, addressing crash scenarios and hitching and tightening up background systems that affect loading and responsiveness. The studio also calls out fixes for rare issues where incorrect or deleted characters could appear in menus or lobbies, and it has made behind‑the‑scenes adjustments such as enabling the Tab key in the SHiFT UI and updating credits.

Rewards and progression adjustments

Alongside technical fixes, the patch includes adjustments to rewards and progression systems. While Gearbox doesn’t itemize every change in its summary, the update is positioned to resolve edge cases around unlocks and progression tracking and improve clarity around rewards and related content.

Availability and rollout

The update is available now. Gearbox advises players to restart the game after downloading the patch to ensure the update applies correctly and to avoid matchmaking errors noted in the patch summary on the official notes page. For troubleshooting, players can contact 2K Support.

With FOV controls finally on console and a slate of fixes in place, Gearbox is continuing the early post‑launch cadence that should help stabilize the experience for PS5 and Xbox players.
