Grab the elevator clearance during Recruitment Drive by taking a bolt from a body at the top of the broadcast tower. The prompt appears only at close range, so stand right on the spot described below.

Get clearance for the elevator (Recruitment Drive)

Step 1: Reach the top of the broadcast tower and face the elevator call panel. Do not leave the platform.

Step 2: Turn around and scan the balcony edge near the elevator for a corpse slumped against a crate or barrels beside the railing.

Step 3: Stand very close behind the body and look at the back of its neck until the interaction prompt appears. The icon can be small and won’t show up unless you’re practically on top of it.

Step 4: Interact to pull the clearance bolt/chip from the neck. The prompt will read something like Take when you’re aimed correctly.

Step 5: Return to the elevator panel and activate it to bring the lift up and reunite with Claptrap.

Activate the safehouse after the elevator

Step 1: When Claptrap reaches the top, break the marked door next to the elevator to enter the new safehouse.

Step 2: Inspect the highlighted datapad on the left side of the room to pull the access codes.

Step 3: Use the green-lit command console to capture the safehouse. This unlocks the fast-travel point and enables vending for buying and selling gear.

Fix: elevator won’t activate after taking clearance

Step 1: Save and reload your game to reset the mission state. Missing safehouse doors or an inactive panel after looting the bolt usually indicates a bugged state that a reload clears.

Step 2: Stand centered on the call panel and interact multiple times at close range. The button can be finicky if you’re off-angle.

Step 3: Restart your session or verify/repair game files on your platform if the panel remains unresponsive. This refresh can restore any flagged objectives.

Step 4: If you fell down the shaft, retrace the climb/glide route you used to reach the tower and get back to the top; the door inside won’t open until Claptrap rides up on the elevator.

Once the elevator is running and the safehouse is secured, you’ll have your first fast-travel point and access to vending—making early progression smoother and quicker.
