Borderlands 4 — Her Flaming Vision mission walkthrough and fixes
Borderlands 4Clear objectives, boss strategy, and known fixes for bugs that can stall progress.

Her Flaming Vision is Borderlands 4’s tenth main mission. It asks you to crack open a crater crossing, raid the Gunworks for a key component, and take the fight to Callis, the Ripper Queen, inside her fortress. Expect a sharp difficulty jump in the back half; Level 14 is the recommended baseline, and rushing the campaign without side content will leave you underpowered.

Mission setup and recommended level
Prerequisite: complete Unpaid Tab (Main Quest 9). The mission starts in Carcadia (Carcadia Burn). Speak with Levaine near the plaza to begin.
Rewards on completion include XP, money, Eridium, an Epic-tier Assault Rifle, the Rip It Out Vault Hunter head, and the Punchy Whoopster vehicle option.
Open the route across the crater (talk to Levaine, meet Zane)
- Follow Levaine a short distance, then head to the cliffside to meet Zane.

- Take the bomb from Zane and plant it on the rock wall blocking the boost ramp, then shoot it.

- Get in your vehicle and drive through the weakened wall using the boost pad.

Steal the Spatial Accelerator at the Gunworks
Follow the objective to the Gunworks and manually open the entrance. Clear the Rippers inside. Zane will steer you toward a massive gate; when it opens, the Drilldozer Deluxe rumbles out.

- Board the Drilldozer from behind by double-jumping and mantling from nearby structures. Destroy the two mounted turrets.

- Use the red “maintenance access” button on top. You’ll be told it’s locked.

- Head to the nearby crawler (a separate, broken-down vehicle) and climb to the top deck. Clear the crew to spawn Holey Moley. Eliminate him and pick up the access override key.

- Return to the Drilldozer. Insert the key at the slot next to the red button, then hit the button again to open access below.

- Drop into the engine room. Interact with the two valves to overheat the dozer, then pull the lever to eject the Spatial Accelerator.

- Pick up the Spatial Accelerator.

If you encounter a missing floor or similar loading issue after a crash or restart, try fully closing and reopening the game or forcing a respawn/fast travel loop. If the problem persists, report it to Borderlands Support.
Install the accelerator and make the crater jump
- Return to Zane and install the Spatial Accelerator next to him.

- Start the two nearby generators (one after the other).

- Summon your vehicle, back up for runway, then boost across the crater on the launch pads to reach the far side.

Assault Callis’s fortress (Moon-Called Throne)
- Push through the outer zone to the fortress. You can sprint past some encounters, but you’ll need to clear the courtyard.

- Clear the Rippers, then defeat Mudmouth and his group at the main gate. The entrance will unlock.

- Inside, follow the linear route. If a door remains closed after Callis’s taunt, clear nearby Rippers to prompt it to open.

- At an upper walkway, interact with the console to hack a locked door while holding off hostiles.

- Proceed to the chamber with two vending machines and the oversized grinder. Stock up, then jump into the grinder to drop into the boss arena.

Boss guide: Callis, the Ripper Queen
The fight opens with three suicidal Rippers rushing your position—eliminate them quickly to keep the arena clear. Callis’s first health bar is Armor (yellow), then Flesh (red). Elemental matchups matter: Corrosive or Cryo chews through Armor; Incendiary burns Flesh effectively.

Key patterns to learn:
- Fire orbs/stomp waves: Callis slams her mechanized limbs and sends waves of fireballs outward (then back). Double-jump to avoid ground-level sweeps and don’t stand in the return path a few seconds later.

- Mobility dashes and slashes: When she drops to all fours, she becomes harder to track and can close distance for tail slams or upward slashes. Lateral dashes and keeping medium range help avoid chip damage.

- Proximity bombs and mortar fire: Bombs spawn in rings or clusters; shoot them from a distance. Mortars telegraph impact zones—commit to a straight sprint to exit the pattern.

Phase shift: at mid-health, Callis becomes invulnerable and climbs into a webbed perch. Laser/web nets spawn around the arena and will slow or pin you if entered. Use this downtime to clear adds and reshape the battlefield; when she drops, resume pressure on the remaining health.

Underleveled approach: if everything is over your head, play at range. A semi-auto rifle and a sniper built for headshots will let you chip safely, albeit slowly. Prioritize survival; second winds are easier if you leave a bomb or low-health add in view.
After the kill, loot the Command Bolt. A grapple route opens at the back of the arena for a red chest. Then return to Carcadia to turn in with Levaine.

Turn-in and rewards
- Return to Levaine in Carcadia to complete the mission.

- Rewards: XP, money, Eridium, an Epic Assault Rifle, Rip It Out (Vault Hunter head), and Punchy Whoopster (vehicle option).
Known issues and reliable workarounds
- Drilldozer area missing floor or objects after a crash: Fully restart the game and force a respawn or fast travel. Avoid quitting before picking up the Spatial Accelerator in the Gunworks segment. If it persists, file a support ticket.
- Even More Ultimater Vault Hunter challenge incorrectly flags Her Flaming Vision: Change your UVH Rank to UVH 3 and re-do the Wildcard mission at Moxxi’s Bottoms Up. This clears the tracking bug for the challenge requirement.
- Ramp “test” costs cash: Skipping the test via dialogue with Zane prevents the forced death and fee.
- Difficulty spike in the crater and fortress: Temporarily swap to Easy, or detour for side missions and Contracts. The story lets you progress other arcs (for example, the Terminus Range chain starting with “Shadow of the Mountain”) and come back stronger.
With the Command Bolt back in hand, the path to the next arc opens up. If you stepped away to level, this is a clean point to rejoin the main thread and keep the pressure on the Timekeeper’s lieutenants.
