Borderlands 4 Mob Justice — Detailed walkthrough and fixes
Borderlands 4Every objective from The Pit to Bruce’s rift, plus practical fixes for the stuck door and “Stick with Bruce” bugs.

Mob Justice is the Augers’ capstone faction mission in Borderlands 4. You’ll pull a drive for The Boss, scrub Vile Lichtor’s remaining backups at an off‑site facility, turn that data into a virus, then break into Lictor’s bunker with Bruce to inject it. The mission unlocks after Angry Mob (which itself follows Mob Mentality and Mob Rules), and it ends with you “Becoming The Boss.”

Walkthrough: The Pit to Lictor’s black site
Start the mission with The Boss in The Pit and grab the external drive from the office console on the left. Your first destination is Lictor’s black site to the east. If you’ve unlocked the Nightcap safehouse, fast travel to shorten the run. Outside the compound, clear the Order patrols, then use the grapple points to traverse the ice wall and slip through the fence cutout.

Inside, expect Creeps — including a named variant, Tim, whose exploding projectiles can strip shields quickly. Shoot the bombs mid‑air when possible. Drop into the red‑lit shaft by the vending machines to reach the “find a way in” room. The door beside a green console needs power: turn around toward the lift you fell past and look under the elevator platform. Use your grapple to pull a battery from the dispenser in the floor gap, carry it to the console, and slot it to open the door.
In the control room, insert the drive at the marked station, then trigger ECHO‑4’s hack on the adjacent terminal. When prompted, remove the drive and head back to The Pit. Place the drive, let the scene play out, then collect the virus chip from the console.

Walkthrough: follow Bruce, enter the rift, inject the virus
Travel to Stoneblood Forest and interact with Bruce to link The Boss. Follow Bruce to the cliff — a rift will appear. Enter it to reach the interior facility. On the other side, immediately help Bruce clear the guards. Keep within range during the “Stick with Bruce” objective so his AI advances, and wipe out the Vile waves that spawn in the deeper rooms.

When the area is secure, head to the lower‑floor console to inject the virus. Return to The Pit for the final beats: take the drive again, upload The Boss to Bruce in the office, then pick up the mask to complete “Become The Boss.” Your grenade reward rolls at Rare/Epic, and you’ll receive cash, XP, Eridium, and the “Criminal Enterprise” head.

Fix Mob Justice bugs: stuck door, missing portal, or Bruce not moving
Several progression stoppers are common in this mission. Use the targeted fixes below before replaying anything substantial.
- “Find a way in” door won’t open or the device is missing: Go back to the landing spot and look beneath the elevator platform. Grapple the battery from the wall/floor gap and slot it into the green console. If the device doesn’t spawn or the door remains locked after placing it, save & quit to the title screen and reload. If needed, fast travel to a nearby hub and return to re‑instantiate the room. Installing the latest update also eliminates many of these blockers.
- Rift/portal gone after a death or crash: Return to the area where you first entered with Bruce and scan for the floating purple orb (the rift can spawn slightly away from the door). If the instance is still broken, fully close the game client, relaunch, and load back in — this respawns the wave and restores the portal for most players.
- “Stick with Bruce” never advances, or Bruce loops between points: Sweep each room for stragglers; a single enemy stuck in geometry will pause Bruce’s script. If nothing remains, perform a full restart of the session (close the app and relaunch). Fast traveling out and back can also reset the AI. Make sure your game is up to date; recent patches target progression blockers and collision issues.

Quick reference: where the mission gates trip players up
Gate | Where it happens | What to do |
---|---|---|
Battery for the door | Black site drop room, under the elevator gap | Grapple the battery and insert into the green console |
Control room hack | Right‑side terminal, then left computer | Insert the drive, then “Have ECHO halt download,” remove drive |
Bruce rift entry | Cliffside spawn in Stoneblood Forest | Enter the purple rift; if missing, return and look for the floating orb |
Virus injection | Lower‑floor console inside the facility | Clear waves first; interact when the area is safe |
Final upload | The Pit, office with Bruce | Take the drive, upload to Bruce, then take the mask |
Mob Justice plays cleaner if you travel light and clear rooms methodically — some steps won’t progress until the space is quiet. Once you’ve injected the virus and donned the mask, you’ve not only wrapped the Augers’ arc but also locked in one of the game’s better cosmetic rewards.
