Unlock Mob Mentality (prerequisites and start)

Mob Mentality becomes available after completing the main mission “Shadow of the Mountain.” When it’s unlocked, start it from an ECHO Log inside Belter’s Bore near the vending machines; look for the log with a dragon hologram on top. Your first stop is The Pit, a club located west of The Low Leys, where the mission threads you toward The Boss’s back room.

Enter The Boss’s office (two routes)

Inside The Pit, Numba One blocks the doorway to The Boss’s office. You have two ways to get past him:

  • Walk to the bar, order Numba One’s drink, and hand it over so he steps aside.
  • Head upstairs, reach the balcony, and glide across to the office entrance.

Either option gets you in to progress the objective chain that ultimately points you to a dead drop.

Find the dead drop at the Gilded Drop (Boss’s mask)

Travel to the Gilded Drop, a point of interest southwest of The Pit. The area is overrun with Creep enemies, and the dead drop won’t reveal its position until the zone is cleared. Expect swarming behavior; shotguns can delete clustered targets, and grenade mods provide reliable crowd control.

When the fighting subsides, move to the central platform. There’s a porta‑potty tucked into a corner of that platform—open it to collect the dead drop, which is the mask The Boss wants.

Tip: If the marker doesn’t appear, one or more Creeps are still alive somewhere in the arena.

Return to The Pit and complete the hand‑in

Head back to The Pit with the mask. You’ll walk into an ambush by Rippers spread across the exterior and interior, so clear both spaces. Numba One will be guarding the entrance again—this time, you need to eliminate him. Once the club is secure, enter The Boss’s office and turn in the mask to finish the mission. There’s no boss fight with The Boss; he simply takes the item.

Note: If you want to wear The Boss’s mask yourself, that cosmetic is tied to continuing his faction questline deeper into the main story within The Pit.

  • Creeps: Prioritize close‑range damage and splash. Shotguns and grenade mods efficiently thin clusters before they overrun you.
  • Rippers: Expect pressure from multiple angles at The Pit. Clear the exterior first to reduce crossfire, then sweep the interior and isolate Numba One.
  • Numba One: A straightforward “meathead” target without unique mechanics—burst him down once the adds are handled.
