Voraxis location (Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening, Fadefields)

Voraxis the Quake Thresher lives in Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening, an Abandoned Auger Mine set in the Coastal Bonescape area of the Fadefields. The mine opens as part of story progression, and the fight itself is an optional boss encounter once you can access Abandoned Auger Mines.

Point of interest Details

Voraxis dedicated drops (legendary loot table)

Voraxis has a small dedicated pool of Legendaries. These items can drop elsewhere, but this arena is the targeted farm.

Item Type Legendary effect Manufacturer
Darkbeast Submachine Gun Parley — bullets pierce enemies; hits have a small chance to cause a large explosion Daedalus
Potato Thrower IV Assault Rifle Spud Gun Torgue
Buoy Grenade (Ordnance) Buoyant Ripper

How to beat Voraxis (mechanics and counters)

  • Aim for the eyes: Voraxis’ eyes are its consistent weak points. Staying on those crit spots will peel through health faster than spraying the carapace.
  • Dodge the line charge: The boss occasionally commits to a straight-line rush after a clear wind-up. Strafe or dash laterally as the charge begins; don’t backpedal — you’ll still get clipped.
  • Back off during molten boulder volleys: The thresher launches molten projectiles that burst on impact. Keep mid-to-long distance, keep moving, and let the AoE dissipate before re-engaging.
  • Bring fire: Incendiary damage overperforms in this arena. Slot at least one fire primary or an incendiary alt-fire to exploit the listed weakness.

Fast farm route (post-mission replay)

Once you’ve unlocked Abandoned Auger Mines and cleared Voraxis at least once, you can loop the boss with minimal downtime:

  • Spawn at the Coastal Bonescape fast travel nearest to Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening.
  • Enter the mine and hit Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine by the arena gate to pay for a reset.
  • Burn Voraxis quickly with incendiary weapons, focusing eye crits, and reset again. Repeat until you land the roll you want on Darkbeast, Potato Thrower IV, or Buoy.

Note: Dedicated drops aren’t guaranteed on every kill, but the targeted pool is small here, which makes Voraxis an efficient farm when you need these three items.

At a glance: why farm Voraxis

  • Darkbeast offers piercing SMG fire with on-hit explosions — a strong mobbing and add-clear tool that benefits from multi-target lanes.
  • Potato Thrower IV is a Torgue AR with a distinct firing behavior that can slot into explosive-focused setups.
  • Buoy brings a unique grenade behavior that pairs well with movement-heavy kiting in open arenas.

If you’re building around incendiary and explosive damage in the early Fadefields arc, Voraxis is a short, repeatable run that reliably feeds the right legendaries without a long travel tax.
