Contribution Points are one of Crimson Desert's most useful — and most misunderstood — systems. When you first arrive in Hernand and toss a coin to a beggar, a progress bar fills on screen, and it's easy to mistake the whole thing for a simple reputation tracker. It's not. Contribution is a spendable currency tied to each regional faction, and the gear you can buy with it is well worth chasing.
Quick answer: Earn Contribution XP by completing faction quests, notice board requests, bounties, and good deeds like freeing refugees. Each time the XP bar fills, you gain one Contribution Point. Spend those points at the faction's Contribution Shop — in Hernand, that's inside Hernand Castle, through the door to the right of the interior gate leading to the main keep.

How Contribution Points work
Every faction in Crimson Desert maintains its own Contribution meter. Performing tasks that benefit a faction fills that meter with Contribution XP. Once the bar is completely full, it resets, and you receive one Contribution Point. You can check your current point total in the top-right corner of the map screen. Points accumulate without a practical ceiling — players routinely reach 30 or more through normal quest progression, so don't worry if the on-screen display briefly shows a small number like "4/4" early on. That figure climbs as you continue completing quests and side activities.
Every way to earn Contribution
| Activity | Details |
|---|---|
| Notice board requests | Tasks like Turnali's Request (fine timber) or Rhett's Request (mine iron ore) posted on faction notice boards |
| Bounties | Combat-focused missions that unlock starting in Chapter 2 |
| Giving money to beggars | Small, repeatable XP boost whenever you encounter a beggar in faction territory |
| Main quests | Certain story missions tied to the faction award Contribution XP on completion |
| Freeing Pailunese refugees | Rescue refugees held by bandits in the open world |
| Liberating bandit hideouts and strongholds | Clearing enemy camps permanently awards a chunk of Contribution XP |
| Faction-specific journal quests | Open the Journal, go to the Factions tab, and check each faction's quest list for additional objectives |
The fastest way to build up points is to knock out requests and bounties that happen to sit along routes you're already traveling. Liberating strongholds is also efficient because each one gives a sizable XP reward in a single encounter.

Hernand Contribution Shop location
Step 1: Enter Hernadian Territory and make your way to Hernand Castle.
Step 2: Once inside the castle, look for a door to the right of the main path that leads toward the keep. It sits just past the interior gate.
Step 3: Head through that door to find Haldwin, the Contribution vendor. He only accepts Contribution Points — regular currency won't work here.
Each regional faction has its own Contribution Shop in a similar vein, but Hernand's is the one you'll encounter first and use the most during the early chapters.

What to buy with Contribution Points
Haldwin's inventory in Hernand includes faction-themed armor, camp equipment, and horse gear. For players still building out their loadout, a few standout purchases offer strong value relative to their cost.
| Item | Why it's worth buying |
|---|---|
| Bolton Plate Armor | Solid defensive stats for early-to-mid game; a reliable body slot upgrade |
| Bolton Plate Cloak | Complements the plate armor set and fills the cloak slot with good protection |
| Hernand Ceremonial Guard Gloves | Decent hand armor available before most crafted alternatives |
| Hernand Ceremonial Guard Boots | Pairs with the gloves for a well-rounded early defensive setup |
| Camp equipment | Quality-of-life upgrades for your camp |
| Horse equipment | Saddles and gear that improve mounted performance |
One important detail worth knowing: you can sell any item you've purchased from the Contribution Shop back to the same vendor for the exact same point cost you paid. Nothing is lost. This means you can freely recombine your total point value if you change your mind or want to save up for a more expensive piece of equipment later.

Common confusion about the point cap
Early in the game, the Contribution display can show something like "4/4," which understandably makes players think they've hit a hard limit. In practice, the cap continues to rise as you progress through the story and complete more faction activities. Players who stick with side content alongside the main quest regularly accumulate 30 or more points for a single faction. The key is simply to keep doing quests — the number grows naturally over time.
Contribution Points reward you for doing what Crimson Desert already encourages: exploring, helping people, and clearing out threats. Treat the system less like a grind and more like a bonus for engaging with the world, and you'll have plenty of points to outfit Kliff with strong faction gear without going out of your way.
