Crimson Desert Global Release Times and Pre-Load Schedule

Crimson Desert Global Release Times and Pre-Load Schedule

Crimson Desert, the single-player action-adventure game from Pearl Abyss, launches with a simultaneous global release on March 19, 2026. The game goes live at 10:00 PM UTC across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac — meaning the exact local time depends entirely on where you are in the world. There is no staggered rollout by region or platform.

Quick answer: Crimson Desert unlocks everywhere at the same moment: March 19, 2026, at 10:00 PM UTC. That translates to 3:00 PM PDT / 6:00 PM EDT on the 19th, or 7:00 AM JST / 9:00 AM AEDT on March 20th.

Release time: March 19, 2026 at 10:00 PM UTC

Crimson Desert Release Times by Region

Because this is a global simultaneous launch, the calendar date actually shifts to March 20 for players in parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. The table below covers every major timezone.

Pre-Load Times for Crimson Desert

Players who pre-ordered Crimson Desert digitally through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Microsoft Store, or Steam can begin downloading the game 48 hours before launch. The pre-load window opened on March 17 at the same local times listed above — so 3:00 PM PDT / 6:00 PM EDT on March 17, or 7:00 AM JST / 9:00 AM AEDT on March 18.

The install size is expected to exceed 100 GB. The Xbox Series file size is listed at 113 GB. Given that scale, starting the pre-load early is worth doing if your internet connection is anything less than blazing fast. Pre-order buyers also receive the Khaled Shield as a bonus item.

The New Zealand Trick Won't Work

A common workaround for Xbox players involves switching the console's region to New Zealand, which normally sits in one of the earliest timezones for rolling releases. That trick only works when a game launches region by region at local midnight. Since Crimson Desert uses a single global unlock, changing your console's region or clock does nothing — the game simply will not activate until 10:00 PM UTC regardless of what timezone your system thinks it's in.

Even physical disc copies are locked behind a mandatory day-one update that only becomes available at the global release time. While the disc itself can be inserted and the base game data installed ahead of time, the game reportedly requires a roughly 48 GB patch to actually launch. The PC version also uses Denuvo DRM, which requires an online check at startup, though this does not create any kind of login queue since Crimson Desert is a fully single-player experience with no game servers to connect to.

Console Performance and Review Timing

One lingering question heading into launch involves console performance. Pearl Abyss has shown PS5 Pro footage through Digital Foundry, and the game offers Performance, Balanced, and Quality display modes on consoles. However, base PS5 gameplay footage has been notably absent from official marketing, which has generated some concern among players without the Pro hardware.

Reviews are expected to go live on March 18, 2026 — the day before launch — though Pearl Abyss has not publicly confirmed an exact embargo time. Reports indicate that review access has been limited to PC, with console codes not distributed ahead of release. If you're on the fence about the console experience specifically, waiting for post-launch impressions may be the safer play.

Crimson Desert is a single-player, offline game set on the continent of Pywel. Pearl Abyss originally conceived it as a prequel to Black Desert Online, but it evolved into a standalone action-adventure title over its lengthy development. With the global unlock just hours away, the only real task left is making sure your pre-load is finished and your evening is clear.
