Crimson Desert Missing Vegetable Box Quest — Wild Garlic, Not Regular Garlic

Crimson Desert Missing Vegetable Box Quest — Wild Garlic, Not Regular Garlic

The Missing Vegetable Box is a fetch quest in Crimson Desert that belongs to the Tales of the Pailunese Residents quest chain. A farmer near Svinholt Ranch needs you to deliver vegetables to someone in Pailune City, but misleading item names and a couple of NPC bugs make it far more frustrating than it should be.

Quick answer: You need 3 Wild Garlic and 3 Asparagus — regular Garlic will not work, even though the quest objective only says "garlic." Both can be stolen from farm plots in southern Pailune City while wearing a Crime Mask.

Finding the quest giver at Svinholt Ranch

You pick up the Missing Vegetable Box from a notice board in Pailune. The quest marker points to a farmer near Svinholt Ranch, north of the main city. When you arrive, the farmer should be standing in the area, but a common bug prevents her from being interactable. If she won't open a dialogue, try swinging your weapon near her with your Mask off so you don't accidentally attack her. Sprinting into her to nudge her away also works. Once she resets to her original position, you can interact and select "Listen to Request."

After accepting, open your inventory's quest documents tab and read the Produce Order note. The farmer should then hand you 3 Wild Garlic and 3 Asparagus automatically.

What to do if you don't receive the items

Some players report that the farmer never actually gives them the vegetables. If this happens, you can gather them yourself. Equip a Crime Mask and head to the farm fields in the southern part of Pailune City. Both Wild Garlic and Asparagus grow in the plots there and can be stolen.

⚠️
Wild Garlic and regular Garlic are two separate items in Crimson Desert. The quest objective misleadingly says "garlic," but only Wild Garlic will satisfy the delivery requirement. If you already have regular Garlic in your inventory, it will not count.

Delivering the vegetables to the recipient in Pailune

The Produce Order describes the recipient as having "black hair, green clothes, brown leather belt, and a pouch at the west." That description is vague enough to cause confusion. The actual recipient is a woman wearing lime-colored overalls with olive-toned sleeves and a small sling-bag that's easy to miss.

Step 1: Make sure it's daytime in-game. The recipient NPC only appears during the day — roughly between 8 AM and 5 PM. If it's nighttime, rest or wait to advance the clock.

Step 2: Fast travel to the southern Abyss Nexus in Pailune City. This drops you near the central plaza.

Step 3: From the podium at the plaza, look to your left (west). The recipient should be standing near a wooden fence on the western side. Interact with her and hand over the Wild Garlic and Asparagus.

Step 4: Fast travel back to the farmer at Svinholt Ranch and speak with her to confirm the delivery is complete.

The Medium Bag is the standout reward here, since extra inventory space is always valuable in Crimson Desert. You also end up with a net gain of Wild Garlic and Asparagus beyond what you delivered.

Fixing bugged NPCs that won't accept turn-ins

A separate issue can block the final step of the quest. After delivering the vegetables, some players find that the farmer is physically present at Svinholt Ranch but slightly offset from where the quest marker expects her to be, making the turn-in prompt unavailable. Several workarounds have proven effective:

  • Save and reload. Travel to the NPC's expected location, save your game, then reload. The NPC often respawns in the correct spot after a reload.
  • Wait for daytime. Some NPCs in Crimson Desert follow day/night schedules. If you're trying to turn in a quest at night, rest until morning and check again.
  • Nudge the NPC. Sprint into the farmer or swing your weapon nearby (Mask off) to force her to reposition. Once she settles back, the interaction prompt may appear.

This NPC-positioning bug affects other quests in Pailune as well, including Wynstan's Request. The same save-and-reload trick tends to resolve those cases, too.

The Missing Vegetable Box quest is straightforward once you know that "garlic" actually means Wild Garlic and that the delivery recipient stands near the western fence by the southern plaza. The Medium Bag reward makes it worth the trouble, and the farm plots in southern Pailune give you a reliable source of both Wild Garlic and Asparagus for future cooking needs.
