Poison is one of the trickier crafting materials to track down in Crimson Desert. The game never spells out where to find it, and no merchant sells it directly. Plenty of players have picked up the Poison Arrow Blueprint only to realize they have zero poison to actually use it.
Quick answer: Kill and skin Monitor Lizards found in desert regions — each one drops 4 Poison. The best farming spots are Forebearer's Barrens (Valley of Grief), northeast of Hernand, and the area north of World's Navel, Urdavah, near the Tashkalp River.

Monitor Lizard locations for Poison farming
Monitor Lizards are the confirmed, reliable source of Poison in Crimson Desert. They roam several desert zones, but two clusters stand out for density and accessibility.
| Location | Region | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Forebearer's Barrens (Valley of Grief) | Northeast of Hernand | Large group of lizards; also yields fangs and hides |
| North of World's Navel, Urdavah | Near the Tashkalp River | Decent cluster along the riverbank |
Either spot works. Monitor Lizards are weak enemies — even an under-geared character can clear a full group without much risk. The important part happens after the fight: you need to skin each lizard to collect the materials.
Monitor Lizard loot table
Every Monitor Lizard you skin drops the same set of items.
| Material | Quantity per Lizard |
|---|---|
| Poison | 4 |
| Tough Meat | 4 |
| Sturdy Hide | 2 |
| Large Bone | 1 |
Four Poison per lizard adds up fast. A single group clear can net around 20 Poison, which translates directly into 20 Poison Arrows at a Smithy.

Unlimited Poison farming with the respawn loop
Monitor Lizards respawn once you leave their render range, so you can farm them indefinitely without waiting for a server reset or timer.
Step 1: Kill and skin every Monitor Lizard in the group. Make sure you loot each one before moving on.
Step 2: Walk away from the area until the lizards are completely out of render distance. Pick a landmark like a large rock or tree to mark how far you need to go. You don't need to travel a huge distance — just far enough that the game unloads the creatures.
Step 3: Pause briefly, then head back to the same spot. The group will have respawned. In some cases, even more lizards appear than were there originally.
Step 4: Repeat as many times as you want. Each loop takes only a couple of minutes and yields another batch of Poison, hides, meat, and bones.

Buying the Poison Arrow Blueprint
Before you can turn raw Poison into Poison Arrows, you need the blueprint. Head to the southeast part of Hernand and look for the Livestock Black Market tucked in a back alley. The vendor you want is named Grimrak. Similar black market shops exist in other major towns if Hernand isn't convenient.
Open Grimrak's inventory and purchase the Poison Arrow Blueprint for 10 Silver. Use (read) the book from your inventory to permanently unlock the recipe.

Crafting Poison Arrows at a Smithy
With the blueprint learned, visit any Smithy. In Hernand, the blacksmith Turnali handles this. Open the crafting menu and scroll to Poison Arrows.
| Ingredient | Quantity per Arrow |
|---|---|
| Poison | 1 |
| Arrow | 1 |
The conversion is one-to-one. If you're carrying 20 Poison and 20 Arrows, you'll craft exactly 20 Poison Arrows. Select the maximum amount, confirm, and the batch crafts immediately. On PC, pressing Escape skips the crafting animation if you'd rather not wait.

Alternative Poison Arrow sources
If you need Poison Arrows in a pinch before you've set up a farming route, bandits occasionally drop them as loot. This isn't a dependable supply, but it can tide you over during early-game encounters. Looting every bandit camp you clear is a reasonable habit until you have the Monitor Lizard loop running smoothly.
Once you know that Monitor Lizards are the key, building a Poison stockpile becomes one of the more straightforward farming tasks in Crimson Desert. A few minutes at Forebearer's Barrens or the Tashkalp River, combined with the respawn trick, will keep your quiver full for as long as you need it.
