The Spire of Clockwork is a puzzle tower in the Demeniss region of Crimson Desert, located near Breezeblown Knoll northeast of Demeniss City. Unlike some Spires that open through natural story progression, this one stays firmly locked behind a gate until you have a specific key in your inventory. Once inside, the challenge is entirely platforming — levers, spinning gears, counterweight tubes, and a spinning dial exit that leads to an Abyss Gate at the summit.
Quick answer: Complete Chapter 8's main quest "A Fleeting Dream" (also called "Blood Coronation") to receive the Spire of Clockwork Key, then use the key to enter the tower, pull two yellow levers, climb the gear mechanisms, navigate the weight tubes, exit through the spinning dial, and ride the elevator to the Abyss Gate at the top.

Spire of Clockwork Key — How to Get It
The Spire of Clockwork Key is a direct reward from completing Chapter 8 of the main story. You'll fight the chapter's final boss as Damiane, so make sure her abilities and gear are upgraded before heading into that encounter. Once the chapter wraps up, control returns to Kliff, and the key will be sitting in your shared inventory — Crimson Desert uses a unified inventory across all playable characters, so there's no need to transfer it manually.
Entering the Spire of Clockwork
Head to the tower's location directly east of Demeniss City, near Breezeblown Knoll. Approach the locked gate at the base of the stairs and interact with it. Because the inventory is shared, the key Damiane earned will work automatically when Kliff uses it. The door opens, and you're inside.

First Lever — Activating the Ground Floor Gears
Step 1: Walk straight ahead after entering. You'll see a yellow lever mounted on a structure in front of you. Jump toward it and aim for the center — the grab detection can be a little finicky, so lining up your jump carefully saves you from multiple attempts.

Step 2: Pull the lever down. This activates the first set of gear mechanisms in the room. The large cogs to the left of the lever will begin spinning, and these are your path upward.
Step 3: Climb the spinning gears to reach the second floor. Using Axiom Force (the grappling hook ability) makes this significantly easier than trying to free-jump between platforms. If you haven't unlocked Axiom Force yet, standard climbing and jumping still work, but the margin for error is tighter.

Second Lever — Opening the Upper Gear Path
Step 1: On the second floor, locate the second yellow lever. It works identically to the first — jump toward the center and pull it down to activate another set of gears higher up in the tower.

Step 2: After pulling the lever, move around the central pillar. You'll spot additional gears you can climb to continue ascending. Axiom Force remains the most reliable tool here.
Step 3: Keep climbing until you reach the last spinning gear. At this point, you need to jump off the wall to reach the opposite side. Instead of mounting another gear, look for a ladder adjacent to the gear mechanism and climb it directly.
Weight Tubes — The Counterbalance Section
After the ladder, you'll arrive at a higher platform with two vertical weight tubes. These operate on a counterbalance system: climbing onto one tube causes it to descend under your weight while the other tube rises. The timing here matters.
Step 1: Start climbing one of the weight tubes. As it lowers, watch the opposite tube begin to rise.

Step 2: At the right moment — when the rising tube is near its peak — jump from the descending tube to the ascending one. Use it to reach the top of the interior section of the Spire.
Spinning Dial Exit and Elevator
Step 1: At the top of the interior, you'll see a large spinning dial blocking the way out. Watch its rotation and slip through the gap when it lines up in front of you.

Step 2: Once outside on the catwalk, turn left. Follow the catwalk along the exterior of the building to the left side, where you'll find a button mounted on the wall.
Step 3: Press the button to call the elevator. Ride it to the very top of the Spire of Clockwork.

Abyss Gate at the Summit
At the top of the tower, an Abyss Gate awaits. Interact with it to teleport into the Abyss realm, which contains its own set of puzzles that continue the broader Spire progression chain. Stepping through the gate also registers a fast travel point at the Spire's summit, permanently unlocking quick access for future visits. This is especially useful since Abyss areas are a primary source of high-tier Abyss Artifacts, making them worth revisiting for gear upgrades in the late game.
Completing the Spire of Clockwork counts toward the "Lands Meet the Sky" challenge set. There are eight total Spires across Crimson Desert, and finishing all of them unlocks the Conqueror of Spires trophy and achievement. Several other Spires are gated behind Chapter 9, so most players will wrap up the full set in the late-game or post-story period.

| Exit | Slip through the spinning dial gap, follow the catwalk left, press the wall button |
| Summit | Ride the elevator up, interact with the Abyss Gate to teleport and unlock fast travel |
The Spire of Clockwork is more of a platforming test than a traditional puzzle, and the biggest obstacle for most players is simply not having the key yet. Once Chapter 8 is done and you know the lever-gear-tube sequence, the whole tower can be cleared in a few minutes.
