Crimson Desert's Bringer of Balance — Where to Find It and How to Claim It

Crimson Desert's Bringer of Balance — Where to Find It and How to Claim It

The Bringer of Balance is one of the more powerful weapons tucked away in Crimson Desert. Classified as a two-handed weapon that uses the two-handed sword moveset, it comes with an Abyss Gear effect that increases your damage with consecutive attacks — making it an excellent pick for players who like to stay on the offensive. Despite its strength, it's surprisingly easy to miss because the weapon is hidden underground in an unmarked location.

Quick answer: Travel to the unnamed ruins in the southern part of Forebearer's Barrens, find the trapdoor on the ground, descend underground, jump over two traps, and pull the wall handle to reveal the weapon.

Bringer of Balance location in Forebearer's Barrens

The weapon is stashed beneath a set of unnamed ruins in the Forebearer's Barrens region. There's no quest marker or NPC pointing you toward it, so you'll need to navigate by the map text itself. Open your map and find the word "Barrens" in the Forebearer's Barrens label. Line your crosshair up with the second "R" in "Barrens," then move straight down past the winding roads visible on the map. The ruins you're looking for sit in that general area, south of the main label text.

Once you arrive, you'll recognize the spot as a cluster of crumbling stone structures with no name tag on the map. There are no enemies guarding the entrance — just the ruins themselves and a trapdoor set into the ground somewhere among them. Spend a moment exploring the area if you don't spot the trapdoor immediately; it blends in with the surrounding stonework.

Retrieving the Bringer of Balance underground

Step 1: Interact with the trapdoor to open it and descend the ladder into the underground chamber below the ruins.

Step 2: Immediately after reaching the bottom of the ladder, you'll encounter two floor traps in quick succession. Jump over both of them to avoid taking damage. The timing is forgiving — a standard jump clears each one.

Step 3: Proceed into the room beyond the traps. On one of the walls, you'll see a handle mechanism. Interact with it to pull the handle.

Step 4: Pulling the handle triggers a reveal animation, and the Bringer of Balance appears in the room. Walk up to it and interact with it to add the weapon to your inventory and equip it.

⚠️
The weapon visually resembles a staff or stick rather than a traditional sword, which can be confusing. Don't let the appearance fool you — it functions as a two-handed sword in combat and uses that full moveset.

The Abyss Gear designation is what sets this weapon apart from most other two-handed options available early on. The scaling damage on consecutive hits means it performs best when you can maintain pressure on an enemy without breaking your attack chain. Fights against slower, larger targets are where the effect really pays off, since you can land extended combos without needing to dodge as frequently.

Common confusion about weapon type

There's some disagreement among players about whether the Bringer of Balance is a spear, a staff, or a sword. Its visual design leans toward a staff or polearm, but in practice, it equips into the two-handed sword slot and shares that weapon category's full moveset. If you're expecting spear-style thrusting attacks, you won't find them here. The swings, combos, and charged attacks all mirror what you'd get from any other two-handed sword in the game.

The Bringer of Balance is one of those weapons worth grabbing even if you aren't sure you'll main a two-handed build. The Abyss Gear bonus on consecutive hits gives it a unique damage profile that few other early-access weapons can match, and the underground puzzle to reach it takes only a couple of minutes once you know where to look.
