Crimson Desert's Master Trainer's Touch — How to Win the Race and Boost Horse XP

Crimson Desert's Master Trainer's Touch — How to Win the Race and Boost Horse XP

The Master Trainer's Touch is a pair of leather gloves in Crimson Desert with a hidden edge: they grant a passive horse XP gain buff and appear to make horse taming significantly easier. You can't buy them from a vendor or farm them from enemies — they're locked behind a specific faction quest in Hernand, and you only get one pair.

Quick answer: Complete the "Race in Hernand" mission (part of the House Serkis questline) by beating a noble in a horseback race from Bloomwood Ranch to the House of Healing. The gloves are awarded immediately upon finishing.

Unlocking the Race in Hernand quest

The Master Trainer's Touch doesn't come from a standalone mission. It sits inside the Hooves Through the Wind quest chain, which belongs to the broader House Serkis faction questline in Hernand. Because Hernand's faction quests are interconnected, you need to work through them in sequence. There's no shortcut to skip ahead — completing earlier quests in the chain is what causes House Serkis to eventually offer the Race in Hernand mission.

If the race hasn't appeared for you yet, focus on clearing every available faction quest in Hernand as they unlock. Progress through them in order, and the race will open up naturally.

Completing the race and earning the gloves

Step 1: Once the quest is active, head to the wooden bridge next to Bloomwood Ranch. A noble NPC will be waiting there on horseback.

Step 2: Call your horse, mount up, and approach the noble to trigger the race. A three-second countdown starts immediately.

Step 3: Follow the waypoints on your minimap toward the House of Healing. The route is clearly marked, so navigation isn't the hard part — stamina management is. Avoid sprinting at full speed from the start. If your horse's stamina drains completely mid-race, you'll lose too much time to recover. Pace yourself, use short bursts of speed, and keep enough stamina in reserve for the final stretch.

Step 4: Cross the finish line. The Master Trainer's Touch gloves are awarded as soon as the race ends.

⚠️
This is a one-time reward. Repeating the race after you've already received the gloves only grants silver. There is currently no confirmed way to reacquire the Master Trainer's Touch if you sell, donate, or lose them.

Equipping the Master Trainer's Touch

Open your character's gear screen and place the Master Trainer's Touch in the gloves slot. The horse XP buff activates passively the moment you equip them — no additional activation step is needed.

To verify the buff is working, check your status screen in the inventory. The gloves should display an active buff labeled Horse XP Gain (1/10).

The combat stats are modest, but the real value is the horse XP buff. For anyone actively training or riding horses, equipping these gloves means reaching higher horse levels noticeably faster than going without them.

Possible horse taming benefit

Beyond the confirmed XP buff, players have observed that wearing the Master Trainer's Touch during horse taming appears to make the process smoother and more consistent. Multiple players have reported successfully taming legendary horses in quick succession while wearing the gloves, turning what is normally a frustrating minigame into something far more manageable.

Whether this is a hidden mechanical effect or a coincidence hasn't been officially confirmed by Pearl Abyss. The pattern is consistent enough across player reports that it's worth equipping the gloves before any taming attempt — especially for legendary mounts.

Can you get the gloves back if lost?

As of early April 2026, there is no confirmed method to reacquire the Master Trainer's Touch once it leaves your inventory. Re-racing the noble at Bloomwood Ranch only rewards silver on subsequent completions. Checking your private storage and buyback options at vendors you've sold to are the only avenues worth trying, but if the gloves were donated to camp by mistake, recovery does not appear to be possible.

Given the one-time nature of this reward and its unique passive buff, treat the Master Trainer's Touch as a permanent keep. Avoid selling or donating it, and consider it essential gear for any horse-focused playstyle in Crimson Desert.
