Dragon Head Pickaxe in The Forge: Location, Requirements, and Stats

The Dragon Head Pickaxe is the current top-end mining tool in Roblox RPG The Forge. It sits behind late-game questlines in Island 3 and a steep gold price, but it also delivers some of the best mining power and luck in the game.

Requirements before you go after Dragon Head Pickaxe

Before you even see the Dragon Head Pickaxe, you need access to late-game content on The Forge Island 3 (Frostspire Expanse). That means:

  • Reaching roughly level 70.
  • Having the portal tool unlocked so you can travel to Island 3.
  • Having decent gear to comfortably clear spiders, yetis, and the Ice Golem boss.

On Island 3, the pickaxe lives inside the Raven Cave, which is itself locked behind the Red Cave Key and then another secret chamber called Corruption’s Heart. The whole path is layered: world access → Raven Cave → Corruption’s Heart → three heart quests → purchase.

How to unlock Raven Cave (Red Cave Key)

The first gate is the Red Cave Key, which opens the Raven Cave door in town on Island 3.

Step 1: From the Island 3 spawn, head toward the spider cave area. On the way, look for a small camp to the side with a raven perched on a box near a campfire. Talk to this Raven NPC to start its first quest.

Step 2: Complete the initial Raven quest in the icy spider cave. You are asked to: kill a handful of crystal spiders, mine a set number of Icy Pebbles, and bring one Ait (also called Aether in some UIs).

Step 3: Farm Ait/Aether by mining the icy rocks in the cave. The drop chance is low but not extreme, so it usually arrives within a short grind. When you have one, return to the Raven at the camp and turn the quest in.

Step 4: After finishing this, go back to town. The Raven relocates to the rock beside the locked Raven Cave door near the main forge. Talk to it again to start the second Raven quest.

Step 5: For the second raven quest, head back into the spider cave and kill 10 Diamond Spiders deeper in the cave, make sure you have at least one Snowite ore, and defeat one Prismarine Spider (the mini-boss in the back tunnel).

Snowite drops from world 3 crystals. If you have been mining at all in Island 3, you may already have some sitting in your inventory.

Step 6: Once those objectives are done, return to the Raven by the cave door. Turning the quest in rewards the Red Cave Key, which permanently opens Raven Cave for your account.

How to reach the Dragon Head Pickaxe inside Raven Cave

With the Red Cave Key, you can finally enter Raven Cave and work toward the Dragon Head Pickaxe.

Step 1: Enter Raven Cave from town. From the entrance, walk straight into the red crystal caverns, then take the first right fork.

Step 2: Keep going until you reach a prominent glowing red orb or “heart” structure in the middle of the room. From that orb, turn right again toward a wall partially covered in red bushes and leaves.

Step 3: Walk straight through the foliage. It hides a pass-through wall that leads into a secret sub-area called Corruption’s Heart.

Step 4: Run to the back of Corruption’s Heart. You will see several hooded cult-like NPCs around a pedestal. The Dragon Head Pickaxe is displayed there but initially greyed out and locked.

To unlock it, you must complete three sequential quests from these NPCs, each demanding a different “heart” item from other parts of Island 3.

All three heart quests needed to unlock Dragon Head Pickaxe

1. Prismatic Heart from spiders

The right-side cultist in Corruption’s Heart is usually the first in line. Talking to them starts a quest to bring one Prismatic Heart (also shown as Prismatic/Prismarine Heart in some menus).

Step 1: Accept the Prismatic Heart quest, then reset or exit back to Island 3 hub and re-enter the standard spider cave, not Raven Cave.

Step 2: Head all the way down to the Prismarine Spider mini-boss. In practice, Prismatic Hearts drop from spiders in this cave, with a notably higher chance from crystal or prismarine spiders than the generic mobs.

Step 3: Farm the crystal and Prismarine spiders until you see a Prismatic Heart drop. The raw index lists a rare drop rate, but in actual runs, it appears much more frequently and often falls within a few kills.

Step 4: Return to Corruption’s Heart and turn the Prismatic Heart in to the first NPC. That completes the first of the three required quests.

2. Yeti Heart from Frostspire yetis

The middle cultist asks for a Yeti Heart.

Step 1: Talk to the middle NPC in Corruption’s Heart and accept the Yeti Heart quest.

Step 2: Reset back to Island 3 spawn and enter the peak area where the yetis live. They tend to spawn in the deeper, rear section of the peak zone rather than near the entrance.

Step 3: Kill yetis until a Yeti Heart drops. The in-game index suggests a low-probability drop, but practical experience shows it behaves more like an uncommon drop; players often obtain it within a small number of kills.

Step 4: Once you have one Yeti Heart, head back to Corruption’s Heart and hand it over to the same NPC. The second heart quest is now done.

Tip: Solid armor such as Raven armor from earlier quests makes yeti farming significantly safer, as their attacks can otherwise chunk health quickly.

3. Golem Heart from the Ice Golem boss

The final cultist, usually on the left, wants a single Golem Heart. This one is tied to the world 3 boss, not the roaming Crystal Golems.

Step 1: Accept the Golem Heart quest in Corruption’s Heart, then return to the island’s hub and climb to the Ice Golem boss arena entrance at the rear of the peak.

Step 2: Wait for the boss timer to reach zero if necessary, then enter the fight. You can solo the Ice Golem with strong late-game gear, but its health scales with party size, so avoid underpowered helpers that only inflate the HP pool.

Step 3: During the fight, watch for the Golem’s stun jump and slam combos. Using damage and health potions, warrior/vitality totems, and freeze/slow effects from frost runes helps keep the boss under control.

Step 4: When the boss dies, it has a chance to drop a Divine Golem Heart. In practice, this behaves close to a guaranteed or very high-probability drop when you are on the associated quest.

Step 5: Take the Divine Golem Heart back down into Raven Cave and Corruption’s Heart. Turn it in to the third, left-side cultist. With all three heart quests completed, the cult questline for the pickaxe is considered cleared.

How to buy the Dragon Head Pickaxe once it’s unlocked

After handing in the Golem Heart, the Dragon Head Pickaxe on the central pedestal in Corruption’s Heart becomes purchasable.

Step 1: Interact with the pedestal or the pickaxe stand in the middle of Corruption’s Heart. The UI now shows the Dragon Head Pickaxe as available to buy.

Step 2: Pay the full cost of 2,750,000 gold (some UIs round this to 2.7 million). Once the purchase goes through, the pickaxe is added directly to your inventory.

If you are short on gold at this point, you will need to pause and grind high-value ores or follow one of the common money-making routes in World 3. The price tag is intentionally high to mark the pickaxe as a long-term endgame investment.

Dragon Head Pickaxe stats and how it compares

The Dragon Head Pickaxe is built from the skull of a fallen dragon and comes with some of the strongest mining stats currently in The Forge.

Pickaxe Mine Power Mine Speed Luck Boost Rune Slots
Dragon Head Pickaxe 750 +10% +78% 4
Prismatic / Etherealite Pickaxe 650 varies by rolls lower than 78% 4

The jump from 650 to 750 mine power is significant in late-game zones, where crystal HP is high, and any reduction in swing count directly improves income over time. The base +10% mine speed further reduces time-to-break per rock.

The standout stat is the +78% luck boost. Combined with four rune slots, this makes the Dragon Head Pickaxe an excellent platform for a dedicated luck build, especially if you slot high-tier Luck and Mine Power runes and then stack external luck multipliers from potions, races, totems, and seasonal buffs.

Is the Dragon Head Pickaxe worth buying?

For players already on Island 3 and capable of clearing the Raven and cult quests, the Dragon Head Pickaxe is a strong purchase.

Compared with the Prismatic/Etherealite Pickaxe, it offers:

  • Higher raw mine power for faster rock clearing across all islands.
  • Better built-in luck, which pairs well with Raven Cave’s high-end ore table.
  • The same four rune slots, giving room for both damage and luck traits.

It is also clearly tuned with future expansions in mind, where rock HP will likely continue to climb. Treat it less as a small sidegrade and more as a long-term anchor tool for late-game mining and rare-ore hunting.

If you are still progressing through earlier islands, it is more efficient to follow normal pickaxe progression rather than rush Island 3 solely for this item. But once you are comfortable in Frostspire Expanse, clearing the Raven Cave and Corruption’s Heart questline and saving up the 2.75 million gold is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make.
