Duet Night Abyss supports online co‑op, but it’s scoped: you party up for combat in commission (dungeon‑style) content, while story progression and most exploration remain solo. You’ll also encounter other players in certain shared areas, but those zones don’t replace the single‑player campaign.

Co‑op scope and limitations

  • Active co‑op applies to commissions, including resource‑farming dungeons.
  • Main story quests and broader world progression are solo‑only.
  • Some shared spaces may show other Phoxhunters nearby, but they aren’t a full open‑world multiplayer layer.
  • Crossplay works across platforms as long as everyone is on the same server.

Unlock co‑op (Friends feature and team play)

Co‑op unlocks as part of the main storyline. You’ll gain the Friends menu and the ability to form parties once you clear a specific chapter.

Unlock step What to complete
Prerequisite rank Reach Trial Rank 19
Prerequisite quests Finish In the Depths of Winter and Dedicated Chef
Unlock quest Complete Black Iron and White Flower (main quest)
What unlocks Friends (friending and teams), co‑op for commissions, plus additional modes/features
Tip: If the Friends menu isn’t visible after the cutscenes and rewards, you haven’t finished Black Iron and White Flower yet.

What unlocks alongside Friends

Feature What it does
Mystic Maze Combat arena activity that rewards items such as Secret Letter Clues and other progression currencies.
Friends Add players by UID, manage requests, and form teams for co‑op commissions.
Ripples of Talk Companion interactions with rewards, including Secret Letter Clues.

Add friends (same server required)

Friending is server‑bound. If you can’t find each other, double‑check you picked the same server at login. Crossplay is supported, but the server must still match.

  • Open the main Menu (top left).
  • Find your UID under your Phoxhunter’s name and copy it.
  • Share your UID with a friend, or ask for theirs.
  • Go to Menu > Friends, enter the UID, and send the request.
  • To accept, open Menu > Friends > Friend Requests and press Accept.

Start a co‑op commission

Once you’re on each other’s Friends lists, you can queue commissions together.

  • Open your commissions, pick an eligible dungeon‑style mission, and start matchmaking as a party leader.
  • Invite your friend directly from the Friends list before entering.
  • Co‑op is optional—every commission can be completed solo.

Known limits and what’s next

  • No open multiplayer outside of commission combat.
  • Story chapters are designed for solo play.
  • Developers have indicated more multiplayer modes are planned post‑launch.

Troubleshooting (friends or co‑op not working)

  • Friends menu missing: Finish Black Iron and White Flower.
  • UID search fails: Confirm both players are on the same server; recheck the UID digits and remove spaces.
  • Can’t join activity: Verify you’re selecting a commission; other activities may be solo‑only.
  • Different platforms: Crossplay is fine, but the server must match for friending and party play.

Once Black Iron and White Flower is complete and you’ve exchanged UIDs, grouping up is simple. Focus co‑op time on commissions for dependable progression and material runs, and watch for additional multiplayer options to roll out after launch.
