Duet Night Abyss commissions explained — unlocks, rewards, and the Covert loop
Duet Night AbyssHow Standard, Covert, Noctoyager Manual, and Bounty runs unlock, what each one pays out, and how to progress efficiently.
If you plan to build characters, ascend weapons, and craft Demon Wedges in Duet Night Abyss, commissions are the backbone of the grind. The game splits repeatable dungeons into four lanes — Standard Commissions, Covert Commissions, Noctoyager Manual, and Bounty — each with distinct rewards, unlock conditions, and rules. Here’s how they work and when to prioritize each one.
Install and where to access commissions
Install the game on PC from the Epic Games Store if you haven’t yet: Duet Night Abyss on Epic Games Store.
Once you’re in, commissions live in the Combat menu and can also be started via the commissions board in the Asphodel in Icelake, by speaking to Snow in Sanctuary, or directly from the main menu after you unlock them through the story.

Covert Commissions — the character/weapon/Demon Wedge pipeline
Covert Commissions are the primary path to new characters, weapon and wedge blueprints, and their associated materials. They unlock after the “Go, Geniemons!” side quest and use Secret Letters as keys.
- Level and rotation: Covert missions are set at Lv. 40 with objectives that rotate hourly across categories.
- Choosing rewards: Before you start, select a Secret Letter (character, weapon, or Demon Wedge). After you clear the mission, you pick one reward from three options drawn from that letter’s six-item pool. Higher-rarity drops are less likely to appear.
- Blueprints vs. materials: One blueprint drop unlocks forging for that weapon or wedge; the same letter’s pool also includes the crafting materials you’ll need afterward.
Getting Secret Letters: Exchange Secret Letter Clues for Secret Letters in the Covert shop. You’ll also use Secret Letters to chase character Thoughts; 30 Thoughts unlock a character’s base copy, and further letters power up Introns.

Noctoyager Manual — targeted Demon Wedge farming
Noctoyager Manual adds two wedge-focused nodes — Defence and Expulsion — as soon as you finish “The Art of Survival.” Primanders (highlighted enemies) appear here; the mode is built to let you focus on specific Demon Wedge types without waiting on Covert rotation.

Bounty Commissions — blueprints on a weekly timer
Bounty’s “Chase” missions are longer, spawn more enemy variants, and pay out Demon Wedge blueprints alongside Carmine Globules. You’re limited to only a few clears per week, so slot these when you have time for higher-intensity runs or want to round out a forging plan. Co-op is supported, whether with other players or your own roster.
How to unlock commissions in order
- Finish Noctoyager 1: “The Art of Survival” to unlock Standard basics (Excavation ∞, Hedge, Termination) and Noctoyager Manual.
- Finish Noctoyager 1: “Prey VS Hunter” to unlock Exploration ∞.
- Start “The Secret Behind the Door” to unlock Mediation (weapon ascension), Expulsion (Demon Wedges), and Escort (Carmine Globules).
- Reach Trial Lv. 25 for Capture, Defence ∞, and Relocation.
- Complete the “Go, Geniemons!” side quest to unlock Covert Commissions and the Covert shop for Secret Letters.
- Finish Chapter 1: “A Bouquet for a Maiden” to unlock Bounty Commissions.

Expulsion example — what “clear the commission” actually means
Many commissions, including Expulsion, boil down to clearing enemies until a visible kill counter hits its target. You’ll see the counter at the top left during the run. Bringing a full party helps clear faster, but any sufficiently strong carry can push standard tiers solo once leveled and geared.

Limits, resets, and what isn’t “auto-farm”
- Commissions end when you meet the objective; they don’t loop endlessly. You must manually start another run.
- Covert missions refresh hourly in a pool; plan your letters around the rotations you prefer.
- Bounty is time-gated weekly; the rest can be run any time once unlocked.
What to run when — practical routing
- Leveling and early mats: Hedge, Termination, and Excavation ∞ handle EXP and currency. Slot Exploration ∞ and Mediation when ascension gates appear.
- Demon Wedges and upgrades: Use Expulsion (wedge drops) and Escort (Carmine Globules). If you need a particular wedge type, pivot to Noctoyager Manual’s Defence or Expulsion nodes.
- Characters, weapons, wedges (new unlocks): Spend Secret Letters in Covert Commissions when your team can comfortably clear Lv. 40 objectives. Use Bounty weekly to secure blueprints you’re missing.
With commissions unlocked, your loop is simple: run Standard for day-to-day growth, park on Noctoyager Manual when you need specific wedges, route weekly time into Bounty for blueprints, and feed Secret Letters into Covert for roster and equipment unlocks. Nothing runs itself; you’ll close out each instance and queue the next — but the menu is always open when you are.
