Duet Night Abyss builds its progression around repeatable tasks with no stamina cap. If you log in daily and follow a simple loop, you’ll steadily stockpile the items needed to unlock characters and weapons for free. If you’re still installing, start from the official site at duetnightabyss.dna-panstudio.com.

Core loop: Secret Letters, Thoughts, and Covert Commissions

Three systems drive nearly everything you’ll earn:

  • Secret Letter Clues ➝ Secret Letters: 10 Secret Letter Clues exchange for 1 Secret Letter in the in-game shop. Daily objectives provide a reliable stream of Clues (15 per day), with more coming from weekly and endgame modes.
  • Covert Commissions (level 40): Use a Secret Letter to run a Covert Commission in one of three categories: Character, Weapon, or Demon Wedge. Objectives rotate hourly, but rewards remain tied to the Letter you chose. On completion, you pick one of three items drawn from that Letter’s loot pool.
  • Thoughts (character unlocks): Character Thoughts drop from Character Letters. Collect 30 Thoughts to unlock that character. Gold-tier bundles of 10 Thoughts can appear among the three end-of-run choices but are rare.

Weapons and Demon Wedges unlock by obtaining their blueprint once from the corresponding Letter; crafting materials needed to forge them also drop from the same pool.

Daily checklist (targets and why they matter)

Task Why it matters Typical outcome
Complete daily objectives Fastest way to seed your Letter economy 15 Secret Letter Clues per day
Advance main story and major side quests Unlocks systems (including Covert Commissions) and yields early Clues Progression gates cleared; more Clues and resources
Run Covert Commissions (once you’re level 40) Converts Letters into real progression items Thoughts (characters), blueprints (weapons/Wedges), crafting mats
Explore and clear rotating objectives Top up currency and materials between Commission runs Coins, EXP, upgrade materials
Tip: If you’re short on time, at least log in to finish daily objectives for the 15 Clues. That daily floor compounds quickly into targeted Letters.

Where weekly progress comes from

Weekly and limited activities are your bigger injections of Secret Letters and Clues, especially for new releases:

  • Nocturnal Echoes (weekly bosses): Drops Secret Letters for specific characters on the weekly rotation.
  • Mystic Maze (roguelike): 30 Secret Letter Clues each week.
  • Immersive Theater (challenge mode): Up to 280 Secret Letter Clues per refresh, and it features the newest character for 28 days at a time.

Plan your week around finishing those modes once they’re unlocked by story progress and team power.

New character cadence and how to target farm

Character access follows a predictable path:

  • For the first 28 days, a new character’s Secret Letters are featured in Immersive Theater.
  • After 28 days, those Letters move into the Nocturnal Echoes weekly boss pool.
  • Later, their Letters are added to the shop for Secret Letter Clues.

At launch, Psyche is featured in Immersive Theater, where you can earn 65 Psyche Letters and 50 Letters for her signature weapon by completing stages with high ratings. During the launch window, Nocturnal Echoes bosses reward Secret Letters tied to Tabethe, Truffle and Filbert, Yale, and Rhythm. As rotations shift, the featured character transitions to Nocturnal Echoes and, eventually, the shop.

Covert Commissions: what to expect from drops

Each Commission completion presents three items pulled from the Letter’s six-item pool, and you take one of the three. A few practical notes:

  • Hourly objective rotation: The task changes every hour within Character, Weapon, and Demon Wedge categories, but your Letter determines the reward pool—not the objective type.
  • Rarity feels stingy by design: Gold-tier bundles of 10 Thoughts have a low drop chance (10%). Expect multiple clears to see consistent progress toward 30 Thoughts.
  • Blueprints are one-and-done: A single blueprint unlocks forging; the grind shifts to crafting materials from the same Letter pool.
Note: All Commissions are tuned to level 40. If you’re not there yet, prioritize story and build upgrades before attempting to farm them.

Sample two-day plan to hit your first Letters

  • Day 1: Clear daily objectives (15 Clues), push main story to unlock more systems, and bank your Clues.
  • Day 2: Finish daily objectives (+15 Clues, 30 total), exchange Clues for three Secret Letters, then run Covert Commissions targeting your chosen character or weapon.

Repeat this cadence while adding weekly content as it unlocks: Mystic Maze for its 30 Clues, Nocturnal Echoes for specific Letters, and Immersive Theater for the featured character’s batch of Letters and Clues.

Quick reference: daily and weekly priorities

When Activity Primary rewards
Daily Daily objectives 15 Secret Letter Clues
Daily Story/side quests System unlocks, Clues, resources
Daily (post‑40) Covert Commissions Thoughts, blueprints, mats
Weekly Mystic Maze 30 Secret Letter Clues
Weekly Nocturnal Echoes Secret Letters for selected characters
Limited (28‑day feature) Immersive Theater Featured character Letters; up to 280 Clues per refresh

Skins and cosmetics run on a separate track

Character and weapon unlocks are free-to-farm; cosmetics are not. Outfits live in the Myriad section with a standard/limited banner setup. Pulls use Hourglasses (Prismatic for limited outfits, Pristine for standard), and pity is banner-specific. Every 10 pulls guarantees a purple-rarity item; hard pity at 90 grants 25 Iridescent Prisms, which can be exchanged for the featured skin. Gold-rarity items have a 0.3% drop rate, including a 25‑Prism bundle and a rarer 50‑Prism bundle. There’s no soft pity, and some seasonal skins are sold directly for cash.

What this looks like week to week

On reset day, clear Nocturnal Echoes and Mystic Maze first to lock in weekly Clues and Letters. Throughout the week, log in for daily objectives to keep your Clue income steady, then spend those on target Letters and run Covert Commissions after you hit level 40. If the newest character is your goal, prioritize Immersive Theater while it’s in its 28‑day window—those featured Letters and Clue payouts are the most direct route.

The result is a consistent, low-friction routine: dailies fund your Letters, weekly modes spike your progress, and Commissions turn those Letters into the Thoughts and blueprints you actually need. Keep the loop going, and the roster—and your arsenal—will fill out without spending.
