Duet Night Abyss Geniemon traits: full list and how to use them

Traits are passive bonuses that you slot into an active Geniemon. They touch everything from raw damage and defense to traversal and utility. Traits come attached to inactive Geniemon you catch in the world (look for a green aura), and you move those traits over to an active Geniemon to keep them permanently.

Trait rarities and upgrading

Each trait rolls in one of three rarities:

  • Blue (lowest value)
  • Purple (mid)
  • Gold (highest value; some traits exist only in gold)

You can raise a trait’s rarity by combining three duplicates of the same trait and rarity. The maximum is gold. You cannot equip duplicate copies of the same trait on a single active Geniemon.

How to add traits to a Geniemon

  • Level the active Geniemon to unlock trait slots. Only active Geniemon have slots.
  • Select the active Geniemon, then choose an inactive Geniemon that carries the trait you want.
  • Unlock the trait to transfer it. This consumes the inactive Geniemon and costs 10,000 Coins.
  • Repeat for remaining slots. Mix values (gold/purple/blue) as you build toward all-gold via raising.
Tip: Use the in-game auto-lock filters to protect newly caught Geniemon with gold traits or high-value utility traits before you do any foddering or EXP feeding.

Which traits to prioritize

  • Damage-focused builds: Fierce (ATK) is the biggest single multiplier; add Keen to cycle support skills faster.
  • Survivability: Beefy (HP), Ironclad (DEF), and Timid (Shield) stabilize squishier setups.
  • Mobility and flow: Chubby, Swift, and Impatient speed up traversal and combat repositioning.
  • Farming and progression: Frugal (drops) and Wise (combat EXP) shorten grind; Gluttonous improves pickup quality-of-life.
  • Safety net: Tenacious adds a revival attempt and only exists at gold.
  • Exploration utility: At peace enables auto reel-in for fishing; Deft unlocks Quick Crack Mechanism for interactables that support it.
Note: At peace, Deft, and Tenacious only appear as gold. Lock them on sight and build around them later if needed.

Smart trait management

  • Protect your pool: Turn on auto-lock for gold traits and high-value utility traits before mass-feeding or raising.
  • Raise before you slot: Consolidate three blues → one purple, three purples → one gold to minimize reslotting later.
  • Spend Coins deliberately: Each unlock costs 10,000 Coins; batch your transfers to avoid drip losses.
  • Use Erudite intentionally: Only feed Erudite-tagged Geniemon as EXP material when you’re actively pushing levels; otherwise keep trait carriers for raising.

Once you’ve filled the slots you need for your build, keep catching and stockpiling duplicates to push remaining traits to gold. That’s the cleanest path to a maxed Geniemon without wasting rare passives.
