Sharpening Potion is a consumable that temporarily increases your weapon’s attack power. One of the most reliable, early ways to stock up is the Sewer Carnival side quest in Icelake. It’s short, combat-light, and adds a useful bundle of materials alongside the potion drops.

Where to start Sewer Carnival (Icelake — Eastern District)

Find the NPC Dutton in the Eastern District of Icelake and speak to him to initiate the quest. After accepting, look to the left of where Dutton stands and interact with the nearby manhole cover to enter the sewers.

Note: On the initial prompt, certain dialogue responses award Impression points (Benefit or Chaos +3). These do not affect your rewards from the quest itself.

Trigger the optional Wisdom Check for bonus rewards

Before heading down, talk to Dutton a second time to trigger a Wisdom Check (Difficulty: 40). Choose the line that asks Dutton to go first. Passing this check convinces him to enter ahead of you and grants an extra payout when the quest is complete:

Tip: Trigger this check before entering the manhole. If you proceed straight into the sewers, you’ll miss the bonus until you repeat the setup.

Sewer Carnival walkthrough

Step What to do
1. Enter the sewers Interact with the manhole cover next to Dutton’s spot in the Eastern District.
2. Follow the marker Move deeper into the tunnels along the quest marker path.
3. Clear the first pack Defeat a small group of Filthoids blocking the route.
4. Cross the walkway Interact with the marker on a sewer bridge. Dutton won’t be there; continue following the marker.
5. Find Dutton, fight again At the final location, more Filthoids spawn. Eliminate them quickly.
6. Turn-in Dutton reappears and hands over the quest rewards. A closing dialogue here can award Morality or Chaos +3, but does not change item rewards.

Why Sewer Carnival is worth a quick detour

This side quest is short, grants five Sharpening Potions in one run, and drops a small package of early progression materials. If you pass the Wisdom Check first, you also walk away with Secret Letter Clues and extra Coin, making it an efficient stop whenever you reach Icelake’s Eastern District.

Once you’ve cleared Sewer Carnival and banked the potions, save them for tougher encounters or damage checks. The temporary attack boost can help push through early spikes without reshuffling builds.
