Phantasio is an Umbro-aligned damage dealer who swaps between a shotgun and a greatsword. His kit revolves around building Adagio stacks, entering Bestial Fury to transform both weapon stances, and managing two resources — Sanity and Immersion — to extend his power window. If you’re installing the game or looking to unlock characters, start from the official Duet Night Abyss site, which confirms the “all characters and weapons are free to unlock” model: duetnightabyss.dna-panstudio.com.

Skill kit and mechanics

Recitativo (Skill — damage, stacking)

Fires an Umbro attack in a frontal area and adds 5 stacks of Adagio to enemies hit, up to 10 stacks. Each new stack refreshes the duration. In Bestial Fury, Recitativo becomes Aria.

  • Sanity cost: 20 at Lv. 1 (18 at max).
  • Damage: 164% at Lv. 1 (479% at max), ~6m radius.
  • Adagio lasts 8s and refreshes on new stacks.

Aria (Bestial Fury variant): a short dash that deals Umbro damage along the path and grants Presto.

  • Aria damage: 249% at Lv. 1 (753% at max); Sanity cost mirrors Recitativo.
  • Presto: increases skill range by about 30% and grants hitstun immunity for 5s.

Curtain Up (Ultimate — transformation)

Enters Bestial Fury, continuously draining Sanity. While active:

  • Melee becomes Furious Claws (a four-hit combo). The third hit can trigger Duo; the fourth hit, and the air Plunge, can trigger Fermata.
  • Ranged becomes Mournful Howl (an Umbro beam). Its third-hit trigger also procs Duo.
Curtain Up highlights Lv. 1 Max
Activation cost / drain 10 Sanity / 30 per sec 9 Sanity / 27 per sec
Furious Claws 1–2 hit ~725% each ~2174% each
Furious Claws 3rd hit ~486% ~1449%
Furious Claws 4th hit ~1872% ~5616%
Plunge (air) ~1935% ~5796%
Mournful Howl ~428% beam, ~20m ~1274% beam, ~20m

Duo: on third hits, grants Immersion based on Max Sanity (short internal cooldown). Fermata: on the fourth hit or Plunge, increases damage based on the target’s current Adagio stacks, then consumes all stacks. At 10 stacks, Fermata also restores Sanity and adds a larger burst of Immersion.

On Stage (Passive — scaling and resource loop)

In Bestial Fury, Phantasio’s Attack increases based on his Max Sanity. Using Recitativo/Aria and maintaining Bestial Fury generates Immersion up to a cap equal to Max Sanity. When Immersion reaches its cap during Bestial Fury, he shifts into Bestial Fury: Devotion, which drains Immersion instead of Sanity to sustain the form and further boosts movement, skill speed, and Attack (still scaling off Max Sanity).

  • Immersion gains: a flat amount from Recitativo and Aria, plus a steady trickle each second in Bestial Fury; Duo and Fermata add more.
  • Devotion stops new Immersion gains while active and imposes an Immersion drain per second.

How to play Phantasio (rotation and resource management)

Phantasio’s damage windows are built around controlled setup and payoff. The gameplay loop hinges on reaching 10 Adagio stacks and then timing Fermata to cash them out for amplified damage, Sanity restoration, and Immersion gain.

  • Open with Recitativo to establish Adagio (5 stacks per cast) and refresh its timer. You want to reach 10 stacks quickly, then keep them alive.
  • Activate Curtain Up once you’re positioned to hit multiple targets or a boss consistently. While in Bestial Fury, swap to whichever stance has safer uptime:
    • Furious Claws when you can commit to melee; it frontloads a massive fourth hit and grants Duo on the third.
    • Mournful Howl when you need mid‑range uptime; it still procs Duo on its third damage instance.
  • Use Aria inside Bestial Fury to reposition and gain Presto. Presto’s hitstun immunity helps you finish the Claws chain without getting interrupted.
  • Trigger Fermata with the fourth hit or a Plunge only when your target is at 10 Adagio stacks. This consumes the stacks but refunds Sanity and grants a larger Immersion burst, extending your form.
  • Ride Immersion to push into Bestial Fury: Devotion. Watch your Immersion bar; once capped, you’ll maintain the form from Immersion instead of Sanity and gain extra speed and Attack.
Tip: If you drop stacks early, briefly rebuild with Recitativo/Aria before attempting another Fermata. It’s better to delay the finisher than to cash out fewer than 10 stacks.

Intron (character breakthroughs)

Level Effect
I1 Immersion gained from Duo increases to 1.5% of Max Sanity.
I2 On the third hit of Furious Claws and Mournful Howl: take 25% less damage and guarantee Adagio application via Concerto.
I3 Recitativo +2 levels; On Stage +1 level.
I4 On the fourth hit of Furious Claws and on Plunge: greatly increases damage against targets with 10 Adagio stacks.
I5 Curtain Up +2 levels; On Stage +1 level.
I6 Presto grants a large Morale increase; Duo triggers extend Presto briefly.

These bonuses reinforce his core loop: more reliable stacking at I2, a stronger finisher at I4, and smoother mobility and safety at I6 through longer Presto windows.

Where Phantasio fits

Phantasio rewards deliberate, rhythmic play. If you like a brawler who can pivot to a mid‑range beam for uptime, and you’re comfortable juggling a setup‑and‑cash‑out loop, he brings reliable single‑target and area bursts with strong self‑sustain inside Bestial Fury. Build your windows around 10 Adagio stacks, time Fermata, and you’ll keep the form running long enough to delete priority targets before your resources run dry.
